School District No. 69 Qualicum
Qualicum
International Student Programs
The Qualicum School District is centrally situated on east Vancouver Island and serves a
student population of approximately 10,000 students. There are eight elementary schools
(Grades K-7), two secondary schools (Grades 8-12), an alternate school (PASS/Woodwinds)
and a Distributed Learning program to support home-learning families called the
Collaborative Education Alternative Program (CEAP).
School District 69 welcomes international students from grade 8 to 12 into our schools. Parents, seniors, peer and
intergenerational mentors can be found in various programs throughout our district. Our communities support our
schools in a variety of ways. Support for school events, fundraisers, and scholarships for graduating international
students all point to the phenomenal support our students and schools have from businesses, organizations,
service groups and individuals. We welcome your involvement in our efforts.
Greeting Message
I am delighted to welcome students from China pursuing a quality education in Qualicum
School District (SD69). We value the presence of Chinese students and the cross-cultural
interactions between Chinese and Canadian students in our community.
Our school district is committed to providing the very best educational experiences that
will meet the academic needs and expectations of Chinese students and parents. Our
educators are dedicated to facilitating the academic success of students, building strong and trusting studentteacher relationship, and assisting them in enhancing their English proficiency and achieving their goals being
accepted to top ranked universities. Moreover, International students will enjoy a variety of social and recreational
activities in our wonderful natural settings.
For over the past 9 years, our school district has officially partnered with Maple Academy and is currently the
largest international agency that supplies international students to our school district. The academic progress
of Maple Academy students has continuously grown as a result of on-going support of Maple Academy.
Furthermore, the students of Maple Academy have always ranked within the top 5% of the entire student
population including Canadian students in academics. This means that professional and caring staff at Maple
Academy have been effectively and extensively working to ensure students’ academic success.
I would like to invite you to participate in this great opportunity for a lifetime of unforgettable memories in our
school district as well as for your continued academic success.
Sincerely,

The Place You Will Stay
www.maincanada.ca
The city of Parksville is an active and progressive city in the heart of Oceanside, on the sheltered east coast of
Vancouver Island, in British Columbia. Parksville is described as the “mid-island” area because it is proximate to most
of the densely populated cities in Vancouver Island. The mild and temperate climate of Parksville allows people to
enjoy a broad range of outdoor activities all year-round. Parksville is one of the main hubs for major transportation,
which enables it to be a thriving city for being economically active and a popular holiday destination.
Residents, especially families with their children, who have chosen to live in Parksville highly value its spectacular
natural environment and high quality of life. Residents pursue reconciliation rather than confrontation because
they think that maintaining social harmony is a great social value in their community. The city also provides a
broad range of urban facilities, services, and recreational and cultural events to make sure residents have fun! The
harmony among the different sectors of the community (economy, quality education, location, natural sceneries,
recreations, facilities, and services) makes Parkville a great city for people to reside, study, and work.
In the city of Parksville, quality public education has always been community members’ expectation since they
place a high value on the legacy of quality education and lifelong learnings. The dedicated employees and staffs
of the district work together towards achieving quality education in terms of academics, athletics, trades training,
visual and performing arts, social responsibility and leadership by providing all students with a wide variety of
innovative and creative programs.
