President’s Patter
Exhibit Aug 3-27
I love plein air painting! That is what you’ll
hear Diane say as she
talks about her work.
With a fine arts degree from Indiana University South Bend, Diane has been painting for
nearly 35 years. She’s also studied with other
well-known artists over the years and has
taught various fine art and painting classes or
workshops since 2004.
Diane’s work is held in over 150 private collections including those of President and
Michelle Obama, Randy and Deb Brown, Tim
and Meg Shelly, Paul and Diane Walker, Indiana Medical Center, Parkview Medical Center, George and Peggy Rapp, Larry Bell, Greg
and Sarah Russell, Dr Walter and Maura
Hallaran, The Nappanee Public Library, The
Franklin Public Library and more.
Her work is currently being sold in five different fine art galleries around the state of Indiana. Stop by the Lakeland Art Center & Gallery to view her exhibit.

Your board of directors has been busy this
summer getting the word out about the
Lakeland Art Center & Gallery. This includes the Kid’s Tent at Village at Winona, radio advertising on Willie 103.5, our Art in Action articles in the
Warsaw Times Union, and participating in Warsaw’s
First Friday events. Thanks to
our newest member Claudia
Carson for helping with the August First Friday. We were able
to hand out newsletters, membership forms, and class flyers to
several interested parties. It was
a fun evening with some beautiful classic cars and motorcycles
Claudia Carson &
lining the streets around the court Melodie Koher at First
house square.
LAA member, Gabrielle Stephenson, also participated
with a tent filled with her beautiful water color paintings.
The next First Friday event the LAA will participate in
is Oct 7th. This event is titled “Art-ober” and is geared
toward the arts. If you are interested in volunteering to
help at the LAA table please contact the Art Center at
574-267-5568.
Claudia Carson, who volunteered for this months First
Friday, is a new member of the LAA and creates beautiful greeting cards. When you visit the gallery you will
see we now have several artists selling beautiful, one of
a kind greeting cards. Those artists are Claudia, Trina
Hoy, Bev Garner, Linda Hudson, John Streeter, Pat
Thompson, Bonnie Gore and others. Their cards are
miniature works of art and the prices are actually less
than the cost of many of the mass produced cards you’ll
find elsewhere.
Visit us at 302 E. Winona Ave, or our face book page,
Lakeland Art Association, or our web site, lakelandartassociation.org, to keep up with what’s going on
at the Lakeland Art Center & Gallery. Feel free to like
and share our face book page with your friends and
family.
See you at the gallery,
Melodie

Following is a letter the LAA received from Beacon Credit Union.
Every so often Beacon CU has a “project spotlight” charitable donation program that allows the
community to vote on local charities they feel deserve support. The charity with the most votes
wins $1000 – second place winner gets $500 and 3rd place gets $250.
Congratulations! My name is Chandra Fase, and I am the Marketing Coordinator for Beacon Credit
Union. I’m very excited to inform you that you’ve been nominated for our community support
program “Project Spotlight”. Project Spotlight is a charitable giving campaign that allows the
community to vote on the local charities they feel deserve financial support.
We will continue accepting Project Spotlight nominations until June 30, 2016. Then, we will open
up the voting process and have each community vote to support their favorite local organization.
2016 voting is scheduled to run August 1st through September 30th and will take place both online
and in our branches.
We will be rewarding the TOP 3 charitable organizations in EACH of our 11 communities in which
we have a physical branch location. At the end of the voting process, the project in EACH community receiving the most votes will win $1,000 of funding from Beacon Credit Union. The second
place winners in each community will receive $500 of funding, and the third place winners in each
community will receive $250 of funding.
Now that you have been nominated, spread the word!!! Ask your friends, neighbors, colleagues,
extended family, EVERYONE you know to visit our website at www.beaconcu.org/projectspotlight (or stop into your local Beacon Credit Union branch) and vote for you, beginning August
1st. Put the word out on your Facebook page, in a newsletter, on your website: whatever you want
to do to inform people about the contest. After all, their vote determines if you win!
Sincerely,
Chandra Fase
Beacon Credit Union
The board of directors for the LAA is encouraging you to vote and feel free to follow some of the
other recommendations contained in the letter above. We would benefit greatly with the $1,000
win.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support.
