LEARN. GATHER. WORK.
FURNITURE FOR THE
NEW WAY OF LEARNING.
On campuses around the world, educational spaces are
becoming more like everyday spaces. The boundaries
designating where people learn have blurred, and just as much
discussion and collaboration happen in the spaces outside
classrooms as they do in the classrooms themselves. Many
spaces are being used as multi-purpose areas, so instructors
and students expect furniture that’s easy to reconfigure for
different learning styles. They also expect furniture to work
seamlessly with their technology to embrace the ways they learn
and communicate. In terms of style, there’s a shift toward the
casual, creative atmosphere of cafés and other places where
people come together naturally to form a sense of community.
Kimball Learning, has incorporated the needs and expectations
of these ever-evolving education trends into the development
of our product portfolio. You’ll find flexible, collaborative, and
technology-driven furnishings from classrooms to administrative
offices and every secondary learning space in between.

GATHER
What does an effective classroom look like? That all depends on how instructors and students choose to use it. Flexible furniture makes it
easy to alternate from a traditional lecture setting to small groups, supporting a wide range of classroom activities.
Different kinds of conversations are suited for different kinds of environments. Supplying a variety of settings, from informal lounges to booths
and conference tables, lets people choose the setting that supports the size of their group and facilitates positive interactions.

LEARN
An interactive space like this frees instructors and students to move beyond the
passive learning style of conventional classrooms toward a dynamic, interactive
style that teaches the collaborative skills employers value. As the classroom of the
future, our learning model encourages instructors to actively mentor and advise
students during their group collaboration. Sliding whiteboards, writable table
surfaces and multiple monitors create spaces to share ideas and provide optimal
viewing for any position in a classroom configuration.

Thoughtful features give classroom furniture the
flexibility to work with multiple settings and styles of
learning. The flexibility of casters let people rearrange
the room to suit their purposes, morphing easily from
traditional configurations to team groupings. Stacking
chairs and nesting tables make the space even more
versatile, letting you tailor the number of seats to your
needs or configure the room for active learning.

Technology integration makes media part of any lesson, allowing
instructors or students to watch, browse, share information,
or create content together. Choose a freestanding media wall
to provide a natural meeting space that can be equipped with
screens and whiteboards, or a small mobile cart to put technology
wherever you need it. Multiple monitors ensure optimal viewing
for all students and provide flexible room orientation to support
any learning style.

GATHER
There’s a lot of learning happening outside the classroom today, making hallways,
lounges, and other gathering places an even more important part of education.
Equipping these spaces with versatile furnishings gives students and faculty the
freedom to learn where, when, and how they want, without being limited to classroom
time and availability. A mix of furniture makes the space welcoming for individual,
one-on-one, or larger group use. Built-in power and connectivity support a full range
of student activities.
10
11
The ideal gathering space is all about options. Individual work
stations provide space for focused study, while tables and
chairs support students sharing information or working on group
projects. More causal settings with lounge furniture and booths
welcome groups of various sizes, purposes, and privacy needs.

Today’s learning can take the form of collaborative exchanges
or heads-down, individual concentration. Study carrels create
zones where it’s easy to focus, with comfortable seating, ample
workspace, privacy screens to reduce distractions, and a built-in
power supply to keep students connected while they work.

WORK
Administrative settings have become more collaborative, too. Along with casegoods
and seating for traditional offices and conference rooms, there’s a new demand for
casual spaces where team members can interact and share ideas with each other,
instructors, and students. Introducing team spaces doesn’t have to mean crowding
the room. By choosing flexible designs, such as storage areas that double as bench
seating, you can offer multiple functions within the same footprint.
16
17
From seating to tables and storage, you can combine
all of the elements to support your work, your way.
Whether you want open plan furnishings to encourage
teamwork, traditional offices to provide focus and privacy,
or conference settings that welcome everyone to the
table, Kimball Learning has a wide breadth of product
offerings to meet your needs.
