CMCC names campus building to honour Dr. Moss
In a ceremony held on Monday, June 23, the CMCC campus building was named the Jean A.Moss Building. As
president of CMCC, Dr. Moss led CMCC’s move from 1900 Bayview Avenue to the current location at 6100 Leslie St. The
present campus was customized for modern chiropractic study and stands as a symbol of the profession in Canada.
The Jean A. Moss Building will serve as a reminder of the gains made under her capable leadership.

CMCC Homecoming ’14 took place on June 6 and 7 honouring the Classes of ’49, ’54, ’59, ’64, ’69, ’74, ’79, ’84, ’89,
’94, ’99, ’04, ’09 and ‘13. For the first time, a 65th anniversary class was celebrated over the weekend with one
member of the Class of ’49 in attendance.
Homecoming offers alumni a chance to share memories and reconnect over a series of events including the President’s
Welcome Home BBQ, the Anniversary Class Luncheon, the Governors’ Club Luncheon and the Grand Reception.

Global Peace Network, World Spine Care and Doctors for
Doctors come together to help developing nations
Like many after graduation, Andrew Wilson plans to see
the world, though his globetrotting plans revolve around
establishing clinics in rural regions of developing nations.
Over a 10 week period, from mid-July to the end of
September, Wilson will work with Global Peace Network
(GPN) in Tanzania to upgrade an existing clinic that
World Spine Care (WSC) will join and manage after the
fall. Wilson’s tasks include supervising the installation
of electricity and running water, establishing a patient
base and beginning research on the baseline disabilities
present in the population.
While he is excited by the opportunity, he realizes it will
have its share of challenges as well. “I’ve been told if you’re
planning to accomplish three things, you’ll get two of them
done in rural Tanzania,” Wilson says. He is nonetheless
optimistic that he can still accomplish all three.
an aid trip to Tanzania over 10 years ago, with a mandate
to “find a problem and fix it.”
After setting up water purification systems for a series of
clinics, Daniel saw a need to address the inaccessibility of
education and health care for impoverished communities.
Injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents are the
second leading cause of death behind HIV/AIDS in subSaharan Africa, and musculoskeletal problems are the
leading cause of disability. However, there are virtually
no publically funded rehabilitation services in Tanzania.
With Wilson’s help, World Spine Care will be brought into
GPN’s rural clinics to provide musculoskeletal care.
Wilson says the work with GPN will be a rewarding
experience and that it will help him contribute to his own
organizations and their current work in Nicaragua.
Andrew is the founder of two organizations himself:
Doctors for Doctors, and Nurses for Nurses, which help
bring primary medical care and nursing support to rural
areas in Nicaragua. Wilson says he wants to learn how
to establish clinics from the ground up, and GPN has
provided him with that opportunity.
Daniel Budgell, son of CMCC’s Dr. Brian Budgell, Director,
Laboratory of Neurophysiology, founded GPN after taking

Congratulations, Class of ’14!
This past Friday, 171 new graduates crossed the stage at
CMCC’s 69th convocation ceremony, held in the Concert
Hall at The Carlu in downtown Toronto.
Dr. David Wickes gave the Convocation Address and
Katelyn Foster delivered the valedictory address. Dr. Moss
received a Doctor of Chiropractic Humanities honorary
degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University,

presented by Dr. David Peterson, Chair of the University
Board of Trustees and a CMCC graduate (Class of '74).
Congratulations to the new doctors of chiropractic as
they embark on their careers.

Kazemi returns to World Championships
For a third straight year, Dr. Mohsen Kazemi will represent Canada at
the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. Kazemi won gold at
the Canadian National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Toronto
on May 17, 2014. He was awarded most valuable player for the highest
point total among male athletes over 18. Combined with a bronze
medal win at the Canada Open Taekwondo Championships in Montreal
in February he has qualified to represent Canada at the 2014 World
Championships this October in Mexico.
Congratulations to Kazemi on representing Canada on the world stage
and best of luck.
Fresh face at CMCC
Ajit Batra
Ajit brings over nine years of work experience to his role as Institutional Planning & Assessment
Analyst at CMCC. He holds an MBA as well as a Bachelor in Computer Application and an
Advanced Diploma in International Business.
Ajit was interested in the position at CMCC primarily due to CMCC being a niche institution
whose faculty and staff strive for success. He has an interest in meditation and has explored
various techniques as part of his daily routine.
Royce Samuel
Royce fills the role of Applications and Database Analyst at CMCC, bringing with him
a wealth of knowledge in the area. After completing a Master’s degree in Software
Engineering in India, he worked in application development and business intelligence in
Dubai and India for 10 years. After moving to Canada to raise his children, he chose CMCC
because he sees the opportunity to impart his knowledge while developing new skills.
Royce is technologically oriented and likes many aspects of tech culture but he also enjoys
cars and discovering new foods.
