Indiana high school basketball
gather during the week prior
to the boys’ state finals to
honor the newest members of
the Indiana Basketball Hall of
Fame.
A reception from 5:00 p.m. to
6:00 p.m. offers the chance to
rub elbows with the honorees.
Dinner is served at 6:00 p.m.,
and the program gets underway
at 7:00 p.m.

from the Indiana High School

members of schools that won
state championships, the 1991

DAMON BAILEY, Bedford North Lawrence 1990
1990 Indiana Mr. Basketball, National High School
Player of the Year, & National High School Player of
the Decade, McDonald’s All-American, all-time leading
scorer in Indiana high school basketball history (3,134),
led BNL to three state finals and 1990 state title, 1994
All-American at Indiana University, graduated having
won more games in an IU jersey than any other player
(108), graduated #5 in career scoring (1,741) and #2 in
assists (474) 1994 NBA draft pick
TOM BOWMAN, Martinsville 1959
Three-year starter led Martinsville to two sectional
titles, led Butler University to first-ever NCAA
tournament appearance and upset win over #9
Bowling Green, tallied 1,334 points to graduate
as Butler’s all-time leading scorer, three-time allconference selection and 1962 Conference MVP,
1963 NBA draft pick and 1964 Olympic team alternate
CALBERT CHEANEY, Evansville Harrison 1989
1989 Indiana All-Star holds single-game (47) scoring
record at Evansville Harrison, led teams to two city
and conference championships, only player in Harrison
history to have jersey retired, his 2,613 career points
remains IU and Big Ten Conference career scoring
records, 1993 consensus National Player of the Year,
selected #6 in 1993 NBA Draft, tallied 7,826 points and
2,610 rebounds in 13 NBA seasons
HANK CLASON, Goshen 1938
Three-time all-conference, all-county and leading scorer,
led Goshen to 1936 sectional championship, led NIHSC
Conference in scoring and captained all-county team,
leading scorer at Northwestern University and an all-Big
Ten selection, a noted member of Wildcats’ 1940 Big Ten
baseball champions (deceased)
JIM FISHER, Lebanon 1979
1,317 career points, among school leaders in career
scoring average (22.6), single-season scoring average
(28.5) and single-season point total (656). All-sectional,
all-regional, Bloomington Herald, AP and UPI all-state
player led Lebanon to two sectional titles, academic alldistrict honors at Newberry College, member of all-Navy
team during U.S. military service
RUSS GRIEGER, Evansville Bosse 1960
Set Evansville Bosse’s single-game scoring record (38),
23.4 ppg senior year, MVP of 1960 all-city team and allconference team and named all-state, starting guard on
Evansville College’s 1965 29-0 NCAA College Division
National Championship squad
BILL HAHN, Michigan City Elston 1959
Led Michigan City Elston to two sectional and
conference titles, three-year starter for Drake University,
named to Drake’s 1960’s all-decade team, 246 wins,
five sectionals and one regional championship as HS
head coach, coached two Indiana Mr. Basketballs at
Michigan City Rogers, also coached at Eastern Greene,
Mississinewa, Muncie South and a Ball State University
assistant coach
WILLIE HUMES, Madison 1967
Four-year starter on four sectional title teams, Madison’s
2nd all-time leading scorer (1,876) and holds single
game scoring record (53), All-American at Vincennes
University, 1,218 points in two seasons, holds 8 of top 11
single-game scoring records at Idaho State University,
amassed 1,510 points in two seasons, 1971 NBA and
ABA draft pick
BRAD MILEY, Rushville 1976
1976 Indiana All-Star, member of Rushville’s 1976 State
Runner-Up squad, remains school’s single season
rebounding leader (394), holds state finals record of
50 rebounds in two games, starter on Indiana State
University’s 1979 NCAA National Runner-Up team,
graduated as Sycamores’ 6th leading rebounder (627)
and 2nd in games played (120), played four seasons
professionally overseas
TERRY STILLABOWER, Lafayette Jefferson 1964
Leading scorer of 1964 Indiana All-Stars, led Lafayette
Jeff to back-to-back state finals and1964 state
championship, two-time leading scorer for Tyler Junior
College and led team to National Tournament, finished
career at Ball State University, where he holds record for
most field goals made in a game (20)
JOE TODRANK, Holland 1956
Three-year starter led Holland to 50-16 record, named
Little All-American at Oakland City College, led Oaks to
1960 NAIA National Finals and graduated as school’s 2nd
all-time leading scorer (1,079), 295 wins as head coach
at Monroe City, Barr-Reeve, Holland and Southridge
high schools, led Monroe City to runner-up finish in 83team 1963 Wabash Valley Tourney
CHARLES BUTCH WADE, Columbus 1963
Captain and co-MVP of Columbus’ #1 ranked undefeated
regional championship team in 1963, averaged doubledouble (19.1 ppg, 10.5 rpg), three-time All-American at
Indiana State, graduated as Sycamores’ all-time leading
scorer (1,672), two NCAA tourney appearances, named
to ISU’s all-century team, 1967 NBA and ABA draft pick

MIKE BLAKE, Evansville Broadcaster
On air with 14WFIE-TV since 1970, won numerous
awards for his coverage and support of high school
sports including 1989 IIAAA Distinguished Media Service
Award, 1998 IHSAA Distinguished Media Service Award
and was inducted in 2006 into National Television
Academy of Arts and Sciences Silver Circle, hosted
multiple telethons and fundraisers for charities including
Muscular Dystrophy, United Way, March of Dimes,
Ronald McDonald House and Little Sisters of the Poor
Centennial Award
BILL DIDDEL, Indianapolis Manual 1904
Led 1904 Indianapolis Manual team to “eminently
qualified to be high school champion of Indiana and
Ohio”, according to school yearbook seven years before
an organized state tourney was instituted, two-time allstate player at Wabash College, named best basketball
player in the U.S. in a poll by sportswriters in 1908
