Flass Hall is a substantial Grade II listed stone built period
residence of immense charm and character.
It provides a spacious individual family residence which has
over the years been tastefully and sympathetically updated
and improved. It is a visually appealing property which has in
recent times been divided into two separate more
manageable homes.
Understood to date back to the 1500's, considerable
restoration and improvement works were carried out in the
late 1960's and early 1970's and have continued since. More
recently since our clients purchase of the property in 2005,
the property has been substantially renovated and improved
throughout with a tasteful blend of contemporary and
traditional features. It has also been extended to provide a
most pleasant garden room. It is thought that Flass Hall was
originally the home of an agent who looked after the ancient
Esh Estate and according to rumour Oliver Cromwell, Lord
Protector, once visited Flass Hall and had tea under an oak
tree outside the house.

Occupying a private and secluded site of approximately three
and a half acres, it overlooks surrounding picturesque open
countryside and parts of the Deerness Valley, providing a
peaceful and tranquil setting and a semi rural environment.
It provides exceptionally well appointed and spacious
accommodation with gas fired central heating, numerous
period features and briefly comprises on the ground floor:
reception hall, drawing room 22'7" x 18' with French doors
leading through to a garden room, dining room 18' x 17'3",
morning room 18'9" x 12'10", fabulous modern kitchen 15'9" x
14'3" which leads to a most useful good sized utility room,
along with a gym and ground floor shower room. On the first
floor there are four good sized bedrooms, all having en suite
facilities which have been refitted and tastefully refurbished by
our clients. The second floor has been converted into a self
contained apartment and could be used for additional
bedroom accommodation and currently comprises: landing,
lounge/dining room 26'9" x 19'2", kitchen, two bedrooms and
a refurbished bathroom/wc. There is a substantial garage
block with garaging for three cars and staircase to the first
floor where there are two rooms suitable for workshop,
storage etc. As previously mentioned, the total site area
extends to approximately three and a half acres where there
are extensive formal lawned areas and paddocks, along with
an abundance of mature plants, trees and shrubs.
Access to Flass Hall and the adjoining Flass House, as well
as a nearby property called The Stables, is via a long
sweeping tree lined drive. On approaching Flass Hall the
stone facade and extensive grounds will not fail to impress.
Whilst being a grand and imposing country home, Flass Hall
affords good access to Durham City Centre and other
regional
centres
including
Sunderland,
Newcastle,
Gateshead, Darlington etc via a good road network including
the A(167) Highway and A1(M) Motorway.
All in all, a superior property which must be viewed to be fully
appreciated.
