WELCOME FROM THE COMMITTEE
The team is proud to welcome you to the 16th Kelvedon Community Festival to enjoy
an afternoon of superb musical talent from young aspiring performers and more
experienced artists – there truly is something for everyone.
This free event is organised and run by volunteers with the support of Kelvedon
Parish Council and Braintree District Council. The event is underpinned by commercial
sponsorship. This ranges from placing adverts in the programme to large scale
contributions. Many local businesses also give their time and equipment free of charge.
All of our sponsors are included on the website www.kelvedonfest.co.uk and we are
very grateful for their continued support.
The main stage, sponsored by Hairways hair and beauty supplies, will be opened
by St. Mary’s School Choir at noon. We are also delighted to welcome The Bull of
Colchester as our sponsors and organisers of the acoustic stage. Both stages have
a fantastic line up – more details in this programme. This year we are introducing
a Silent Disco tent hosted by local DJs and sponsored by Hayward and Barrett civil
engineering.
The KIDZ ZONE is being run by Kelvedon Youth Forum and Kelvedon Dance Studio.
Huge thanks to their team of volunteers. There will be lots of activities for all the family
but please remember children must be accompanied at all times as a childminding
service is NOT on offer.
SOME KEY MESSAGES TO HELP YOU ENJOY A GREAT DAY OUT:
NO ALCOHOLIC DRINKS can be brought into the festival. The beer tent will be
selling a good range of real ales, bottled beers, draught lagers, and wine for
sale at reasonable prices so you will not go thirsty.
• ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS IS ALLOWED. This is due to both health and safety
and for licensing reasons. We have to be strict about this so please don’t be
offended if our stewards ask to check your bag.
• PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING GAZEBOS, FOLDING CHAIRS AND BLANKETS and
make yourselves comfortable. There will be signs and stewards to show you
where these can be placed.
• BBQS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME
• KEEP THE SITE TIDY Rubbish bags are freely available and there are plenty of
bins on site.
The Festival Committee is always seeking volunteers who can give up just an hour or
two to help out at the event, or to get more involved in event organisation. If you’d like
to get involved, please contact the committee through the website or facebook.

Meet the Bands – The Hairway’s Main Stage
DR. ZERO AND THE HOT HEADS are a 5
piece Rhythm and Blues band from Essex,
playing head rocking, foot tapping, high
adrenaline R&B, just the way you like it.
Inspired by the great R&B bands that still
continue to rock such as Dr Feelgood,
Nine Below Zero, Eddie and the Hotrods
and The Strypes.
The band gained nationwide exposure
when lead singer, Ian Leigh found himself
featured in the line up for Never Mind The
Buzzcocks. So, if you’re ready for a shot of
R&B, the Dr will see you now.....

LOOSE JOINTS, A quadruplet of renegade
musicians from Coggeshall surfing a tidal
wave of sound. With the standard rock formation and a healthy dose of humour they
made their way from the misty depths of
Essex to the gold paved streets of London...
What fools.
Their music is best described as a funk
rock pie with a side helping of reggae, all
washed down with a nice pint of blues.
Acoustic stage headliners in 2014 and now
they are back to grace our Main Stage.

Meet the Bands – The Hairway’s Main Stage
SONS OF BOUDICCA our 2015 covers
band. Well known in Kelvedon and is
made up of Kevin Lay - lead singer. Greg
Kench - lead guitar. Robert Pinder - rhythm
guitar. Ian Jones - bass guitar and backing
vocals. Paul Mayes - drums.
Having been gigging for over 3 years the
band members have played for numerous
other groups over the years and are now
establishing an enthusiastic and loyal
following which is growing by the day.
They pride ourselves in covering songs
which most people wouldn’t expect

JOHNNY B GOODE return in 2015 after
putting on a great show on the Acoustic
Stage last year. They originally set up as
an acoustic duo but has quickly turned
into a lively two piece band. JBG have
been performing for four years. With
the combination of 2 Vocals, Guitar, 3
Keyboards, Bass Drum, Cajon, Harmonica
and percussion it is quite easy to see how
the word ‘DUO’ can be misinterpreted.

BAKERSIDE
This superb rock band, all from the
Chelmsford area were founded in 2013.
They are influenced by a very wide range of
artists and bands from all over ranging from
Eddy Vedder(Pearl Jam) to the Small Faces,

THE 45 MEN are a 5 piece vocal harmony
Doo Wop band with guitar, bass, sax and
drum accompaniment. Playing unusual
and quirky Doo Wop rarities from mainly
between 1952 and 1957. The 45 Men will
make you smile and dance!
The band’s set pays homage to some 50s
doo-wop greats, artists such as The Four
Top Hatters, The Five Keys, The Cadillacs,
The Crew Cuts, Drifters... you get the idea it’s all about the harmonies!

KELVEDON DANCE STUDIO Kelvedon
Dance Studio is a well established dance
school based in the heart of the community
of Kelvedon, in Essex.
We aim to promote a love of dance and
believe it should be open to all ages and
abilities. Therefore, we offer dance classes
in Ballet, Modern Dance, Tap Dance and
Jazz, starting at approximately age 4 years
and with no upper limit on our adult classes.

Meet the Bands – The Bull Acoustic Stage
TALL TREE TALES are an acoustic quartet
based in Chelmsford, Essex. Playing
original material with the odd obfuscated
cover, the band is starting to create a
storm wherever they play. Being purely
acoustic, the band has been seen busking
in the street to gigging and supporting
artists all over Essex.
The band consists of Matt, Miki, Marc
and Carl. With powerful songs and spine
tingling melodies The Trees are definitely
