FROM THE PRINCIPAL…..
Hello Willowbrook Families!
The 2014-2015 academic year is off to an awesome start. Academic courses
are humming, student council officers and class representatives are planning,
volleyball and soccer seasons are rapidly concluding, boys’ basketball tryouts
are next week, many school clubs and activities are already taking place, the
Tees for Technology golf outing was a great success, and our WMS students
ran a record number of miles during the annual Jog-A-Thon.
Even though it’s only early October I’d like to thank all the great volunteers who
have already made an important impact on so many of our students. Thank
you to those who have assisted with the Back to School Picnic, Jog-A-Thon, 5th
Grade Creek Walk, Tees for Technology, Booster Club, Music Advocates, the
concession stand at athletic events and at any other WMS event. Your time,
energy, and commitment is what makes this community great – thank you!

CONFERENCES
Believe it or not, the November Conferences are just around the corner. Our
conferences are scheduled through the Pick-A-Time scheduling program.
Please refer to the last page in this newsletter for instructions on how to
schedule your student.
BLUE AND WHITE GAME
Our first home game is Tuesday, October 28th beginning @ 4:30. This is a special one as we call it our “Blue/White Game”. We’ve been holding it for decades now! First we will be having the JV boys mixing it up and playing different
combinations of players each quarter. Afterwards the Varsity will take on the
Hononegah Freshman (last year's team). It’s a great chance to “get all the
bugs out” before the actual season gets underway. In addition, all of our admissions (season passes won't be used), concessions and donations that evening go towards a Hononegah scholarship for Seniors going on into college on
behalf of the Willowbrook Booster Club. Last year we presented our "Greg
Thorpe – Athletic Scholarships" to HHS seniors Amy DalSanto (who went to
Kansas State University) Please come watch our teams Tuesday evening and
support this great scholarship at the same time.

FROM THE PRAIRIE HILL ART DEPARTMENT
Parents don’t forget to register at our online art gallery at Artsonia.com, where you can not only view your student’s
artwork, but also leave comments, register to receive emails to alert you when new artwork is posted, and best of
all order merchandise from Artsonia imprinted with your student’s masterpiece. Items such as mugs, necklaces,
mouse pads, totes, hot pads, jewelry and such make unique personalized gifts for Christmas, Mother’s Day, and
the like. Also, if you have grandparents or relatives living elsewhere, they can register to receive emails and are
able to leave comments. A portion of the order proceeds is returned to the PHS Art Department so we can continue
to offer your students outstanding art opportunities.
Also, we welcome any material donations from your workplace or other art-friendly materials we can reuse or recycle.
Lastly, we welcome back former PHS student Kelcy Ainsworth, who is student teaching with Mrs. Williams this semester. Sadly, Mrs. Williams will be retiring at the end of the year, leaving a rich legacy of art here in the PHS/WMS
district.
Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Swanson, and Miss Ainsworth
Greetings PHS Families,
My name is Ms. Ainsworth and I am very excited to be student teaching this Fall! I currently attend Rockford University and will graduate soon with my Master of Arts in Teaching with a K - 12 license to teach art. I am very grateful
for the opportunity to be working alongside Mrs. Williams in the art classroom and the rest of the PHS team.
I will be student teaching all 3rd-8th graders in the art classroom through December. I will gradually be taking responsibility but always in consult with Mrs. Williams. By the beginning of October I will be teaching most of the 3rd8th grade art classes.
I am very excited to get to know your student(s) in the next few months. I love school and hope to pass on my passion to learn. I was born and raised locally. I am proud to be a PHS alum! When I am not studying or teaching I enjoy reading, doing anything creative, playing with my two dogs, and spending time with my dear friends and family.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Email: [email protected]
Phone: (815) 389-1930
Sincerely,
Ms. Kelcy Ainsworth
