WELCOME
The Organizing Committee of the CROATIAN FALCON – UNION FOR DISCIPLINES OF POWER (in short: HS-SDS),
City of Zadar and Boris and Vedran Presečki take this opportunity to welcome all National Federations to
participate in the GPA European championship 2016, wich will take place on 27th, 28th & 29th of May
2016 in city Zadar, Croatia, under the supervision of Global Powerlifitng Aliance and President of GPA Mr. L.B.
Baker.
LOCATION
CITY OF ZADAR
Zadar is an ancient Mediterranean port city. The old town, surrounded by walls and towers on a
peninsula, with a new, urban part is connected by a bridge, a symbol of the city.
Zadar (Croatian pronunciation: [zâdar];Italian: Zara) is a city in Croatia, situated on the Adriatic Sea. It is the
centre of Zadar County and the wider northern Dalmatian region. In the last official census of 2011 the
population of Zadar was 75,082, making it the fifth largest city in the country. Zadar is a historical centre
of Dalmatia as well as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zadar: it has a rich history dating
from prehistoric times.
Built on Roman urban principles, where there are several major longitudinal streets traversed by a greater
number of latitudinal streets, give the city a rectangular shape. The old town is a treasure trove of
archaeological treasures and monuments to the ancient, medieval and Renaissance periods. This is visible
by a number of sacral and architectural monuments – the church of sv. Donat [St. Donatus] where every
summer the sounds of Zadar's musical evenings echo, the Roman Forum near the main square, Kalelarga the longest and widest street, the Cathedral of sv. Stošije [St. Anastasia], an Archaeological Museum with
its exceptional treasures and many other monuments of cultural and historical heritage (town gate,
Arsenal, churches, museums...).
In a city with the most beautiful sunset, in a maritime archipelago facing a multitude of islands and islets,
which protect the city from the strong winds, enjoy the symphony of the Sea Organ and magical urban
light installation Pozdrav suncu [Greeting the Sun] near the new harbour for cruise ships.
Zadar is a powerful cultural and economic city whose life is comfortable all year round, but shows all its
splendour in the summer. Visit the traditional events or contemporary events like the full moon nights,
Zadar dreams, Millennium jump, Kalelarga art... Enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine, taste the sweet
Maraschino cherry liqueur, and take a swim from one of the sandy beaches in the Zadar area!
The city of Zadar is an easily reached destination by land, sea and air. It has a good traffic infrastructure
through which it is directly connected to other bigger cities of the Republic of Croatia and Europe, with
extraordinary accommodation and contemporary service of numerous marinas. Whichever way you want
to reach Zadar, the natural beauty of the landscape will not leave you equanimous.

The ferry port as well as the new tourist port for cruisers are located on the new and spacious Gaženica
port, some 3 km away from the center of the town.
Air transport, even though the airport is small it is contemporary (9 km distance from the center), and
connects Zadar with bigger cities of the Republic of Croatia and many European capitals and other
destinations.
Situated in the heart of the Adriatic, Zadar is the urban center of northern Dalmatia as administrative,
economic, cultural and political center of the region. The coast is particularly indented, the islands and
the untouched nature allures many boaters to this regions. The archipelago counts 24 bigger and about
300 smaller islets and rocks, 3 nature parks - Telašćica, Velebit and Vransko jezero and 5 national parks Paklenica, Plitvice lakes, Kornati Islands, Krka and Sjeverni Velebit classifying Zadar and its surroundings at
the very top of the Croatian tourist offer.
The beautiful Croatian city of Zadar has beaten off the likes of Paris, London and Rome to win the title
of ‘European Best Destination 2016’…
Organised by portal European Best Destinations, Zadar and 19 other destinations in Europe, including
Athens, Prague, London, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, Milan and Rome, were
nominated for ‘European Best Destination 2016′. Voting ended on 10 February, and after more than
288,000 votes it was the gorgeous Dalmatian city which won.
Some big names had got behind Zadar tourist board’s #birajzadar (Choose Zadar) campaign to help secure
the title, including Real Madrid star and Zadar’s own Luka Modrić who asked his fans on social media to
support his hometown.

The GPA European Powerlifting Championship 2016 will take place in the CONGRESS HALL "DONAT I":
357 seats, cinema schedule at three star Falkensteiner Donat Hotel wich is part of the Falkensteiner Hotel
complex located by the Adriatic sea, about 3 km from the old city of Zadar.

ACCOMMODATION/ RECOMMENDED HOTELS
All the costs for travelling, hotel accommodations and meals are the responsibilities of the athletes and
delegates themselves.
Organizing Committee of the GPA European championships 2016 will help all the National teams with the
hotel reservations and will also help them to organize transport from/to the airport, bus station or train
station.
Organizing Committee has arranged accommodation by discount prices for all competitors, delegates and
every other accompanying staff in national teams in 2 good and not expensive hotels in Falkensteiner
Hotels complex where is also and venue site of event. The discount prices for accommodation in Hotel
Donat and Hotel Funimation apply only for competitors, delegates and every other accompanying staff in
national teams till April 29th 2016, after that date all participants of GPA European championships 2016
will pay accomodation by regular prices of hotela.
HOTEL „DONAT“- Hotel Donat is located in the Borik Resort Complex, 3.5 km from the historical city
center of Zadar. The Hotel has direct access to the beach, surrounded by fragrant pine trees. In front of
the hotel a beautiful sand and pebble beach stretches 1,7 km. The ideal choice for relaxing vacations and
families who enjoy Mediterranean climate, clean water and an assorted culinary offer. Hotel Donat is also
ideal for conducting business meetings and conferences in Zadar.

can be found on site.

Fitness facilities can be found in Falkensteiner Club Funimation Borik's spa center, surrounded by lush,

The Borik Marina is less than half a kilometer from the property. The Zadar Ferry Port, with lines leading
to the nearby islands, is 3.2 km away. Zadar Airport is located at a distance of 13.7 km.

ARRIVALS
All national federation arrivals are day before the competition, or on day of the competition. The most
suitable arrival day is Thursday, May 26th. You can fly in airport Zadar, wich is only 9 km from centar of
Zadar, or you can fly in airport Zagreb (Airport Pleso) from where there are daily flights to Zadar (Airport
Zemunik) at 14:15 and 21:15, also you can fly in airport Split from where there are daily flights to Zadar at
06:15 and 19:45. If you come with a plane the Organizing Comittee will help you to arrange transport for
all the National teams from/to the airport.

VISAS
A valid passport is required to entry into Republic Croatia. Please consult the Croatian Embassy in your
country to determine if you need a visa.The Organizing Committee of GPA European championships 2016
will help to arrange the visas for all athletes and officials.
CURRENCY
The national currency in Republic Croatia is the KUNA (abbreviated KN). One Euro is approximately 7,6
Kuna. All major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and most of the shops.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
The official language is Croatian, but English is widely used in hotels, shopping and sports centers, tourist
areas.
TIME DIFFERENCE
The time in Zadar is in CET (Central European Time) UTC/GMT +1 hour
CLIMATE
During the months of May and June, the temperature is about 25°C
WEIGHT-IN AND MEASUREMENT OF ATHLETES
Weigh-in will take place in the official hotel Hotel Donat, DONAT „I“ – congress hall, Falkensteiner Hotel
complex, Majstora Radovana 7, Zadar, Croatia May 26th from 09:00 PM – 11:00 PM, and also on the
first day of competition May 27th from 07:00 AM – 09:00 AM It is the responsibility of the chief
delegate or team leader to make sure that the athletes are on time. Any athletes who are late will not be
accepted to participate.
NATIONAL TEAM
All national team federations are free to send as many competitors as they have, ready to compete, who
are not on any sanction what so ever.

Each athletes participating GPA European championship 2016 will be obligated to pay registration fee
in raw and equipped division: Powerlifting 65 Euro - Pushpull Meet 65,00 Euro - Bench Press 65,00 Euro
- Dead lift Meet 65,00 Euro. Team entry fee 55,00 Euro. Any combination of 2 or more meets will be
20,00 Euro less than the total. Registration fee in GPA drug free division: Powerlifting 95,00 Euro Pushpull Meet 95,00 Euro - Bench Press 95,00 Euro - Dead lift Meet 95,00 Euro. Team entry fee 55,00

Late entry 20,00 Euro additional fee. Registration fee after April 29th, 2016 is payable to the Organizing
Committee during registration, upon arrival in Zadar or on bank account (payment must be received on
bank account). Each country may enter not limited number of athletes.
The Organize Committee will allowe a SPECIAL DISCOUNT on all total registration fees to each participiant
of GPA European championship 2016 if he or she take accommodation during competition in:

BACKSTAGE/DRESSING ROOM ACCES
Access to the backstage area and dressing room area shall be strictly limited to essential personnel ONLY.

AWARDS
Trophies, medals and diplomas will be presented for all competitors.

Competitors must provide their PASSPORT during the registration.
