safety, acceptance
and well-being.”
Your support in 2014
empowered Wellspring Calgary to:
• Reach more individuals living with cancer through
a pilot of programs in south Calgary, expand rural
outreach, and grow our capacity to serve more people.
• Respond more fully to the diversity of our members’
needs, including launching an exclusive stream of
programs for young adults with cancer, creating a
men’s group, and expanding the Money Matters
program to include a variety of clinics where
professionals share their knowledge pro-bono and in a
personally customized way.
• Create a long-term strategic plan for growth.

President’s Message
Wellspring Calgary was born of a dream. Our three co-founders, Barbara CunningsVersaevel, Rita Egizii and John Stephure, dreamed of a place where anyone living with
cancer, and those who loved them, could freely access vital, evidence-informed programs
and resources; where they could find others who understood, and could support them
on their journey. With your tremendous help, and the great support of so many others,
Wellspring Calgary launched and has flourished, becoming an important resource for our
family members, friends, and neighbours impacted by cancer.
Since our beginning in 2007, Wellspring Calgary has witnessed exponential growth in our
membership numbers and participation. We have been blessed to create and strengthen
partnerships that have had a profound and positive impact on those we serve. Most
significantly, we have heard time and time again from those we have the privilege of
serving, that Wellspring Calgary has had a tremendous impact in their lives … helping
them to pick up the pieces following a cancer diagnosis and to feel empowered and
hopeful as they navigate their way.
As you will see and read,
the impact of your support
is profound and will continue
to be important.
“Wellspring Calgary
enabled me to move on
from being a cancer patient
to someone experiencing great joy
and appreciation
for my current well-being.”
2014 was a pivotal year for
Wellspring Calgary. Thanks
to the significant support of
Cedarglen Homes, the Alberta
Cancer Foundation, and
thanks to all of you, Wellspring
Calgary was able to reach out to more through a pilot program in Auburn Bay, expansion
of programs at Carma House, increased rural outreach, the creation of a new, exclusive
stream of programs for young adults, and much more. Our Board of Directors focused
our attention on growth, beginning to create a long-term strategic plan, mapping our way
forward. We were motivated to consider this plan knowing the impact of our work together,
and knowing the significant need that still exists for southern Albertans unable to access
our current programs. We look forward to sharing this plan with you in the coming year.
Please let me extend my gratitude to you for the truly vital role you play. Thanks to you, no
one has to face cancer alone. Thanks to you, people can navigate the challenging journey
of cancer feeling empowered with information, resources, and the support of others who
“get” it. Please take a moment to read and come to know what you have made possible,
and we invite you to consider joining us as we move forward in our efforts to serve more.
With sincere thanks,
David Harvie
President, Wellspring Calgary Board of Directors

Events 2014
Events are an important source of revenue
that support the programs and resources
offered without charge to Wellspring
To all our event supporters and organizers, thank you for another great
year and for the amazing support of Wellspring Calgary and our members!
Together in 2014 through all events, you raised $332,743.
With the participation of
elementary and postsecondary students, along
with corporate Calgary and
a host of individuals, nearly
1,200 people wore toupees

Calgary members. They provide funds and
build awareness about Wellspring’s resources
and support in the community. We thank the
generosity of our sponsors who invested in our
events so our members can freely partake in the
programs they choose.
Wellspring Calgary is sincerely grateful to those people, groups and
organizations that chose to support us through their own fundraising events.
Events hosted by others for our benefit relieve a portion of the administrative burden Wellspring Calgary would otherwise
bear. Thank you for your bold initiatives, generous hearts and kind spirits! We are successful because of you! Many have
found great and imaginative ways to support us; here are a few we’d like to highlight from 2014.
Tour du Cancervive
Since Wellspring’s inception, Cancervive has raised more than $2 million toward cancer
supportive care for our members. Beginning with a personal bike riding challenge to Austin,
Texas in 2007, and continuing on to 2014 when Wellspring enthusiasts rode the Alberta
Highways, Cancervive has been an incredible journey. Read more about the impact of this year’s
event on page 10.
World Health Golf
For five years World Health (Edgemont Club) has supported Wellspring Calgary through its annual
golf tournament and other supportive events, raising over $75,000 in total. In 2014 a cheque of over
$22,000 was presented at this year’s triWELLathon event. Learn more about World Health and the
impact of its giving in our story on page 11.
Days after the September
snowstorm, Wellspring Calgary
was ablaze with passion and
fitness as 102 participants
challenged themselves to a
marathon of programs, including
Yoga, Zumba and Expressive Arts,
all in support of people living with
cancer. Together they raised over
$23,000 for Wellspring Calgary
programs!
Carson’s Ride
Marking his seventh year of celebrating his birthday bicycle ride in support of Wellspring Calgary,
Carson and friends raised nearly $12,000 for Wellspring programs! In total, Carson and his family
have raised and donated over $60,000 to Wellspring Calgary - a shining example of our youth
torching a trail of goodness in the world.
I always carry a Wellspring
brochure with me everywhere I go.
All of you who invest in and support our events
are making a huge difference in the lives of people living with cancer!
Wellspring has been a blessing in my life
and I want to make sure that anyone else
who needs Wellspring Calgary learns of it.”

“I’ve taken many Wellspring classes that have led to
amazing self-discovery… I am profoundly changed.”
In 2014, thanks to the extraordinary generosity and creativity
of Cedarglen Homes, and with support from its trades,
suppliers and Brookfield Residential, new doors to
In 2013, the Alberta Cancer
Foundation and Wellspring Calgary
began discussing ways to bring
cancer supportive care to more people
throughout rural Alberta.
resources literally opened up in south Calgary for people living
with cancer.
On February 13, a beautiful showhome in Auburn Bay became
“Wellspring Calgary South,” the temporary site of scheduled
programs three days a week through May. During off-program
times, it remained a showhome for prospective buyers.
And to make this gift even more
remarkable, the home was auctioned
off in June with Cedarglen Homes
donating full proceeds of $525,000
as a multi-year gift to Wellspring
Calgary.
Using the funds, in part, to develop a plan
to address more permanent growth in other
parts of the city over time, Wellspring is fulfilling
its vision that no one has to face cancer alone.
This unprecedented donation, combined with support
from the Alberta Cancer Foundation, has made it possible for
Wellspring to reach out and deliver a select offering of programs
in south Calgary and to fortify cancer supportive care in rural
Alberta.
“This was a very personal decision for us,” says Cedarglen
Homes President Howard Tse, explaining how cancer touched
close to home when one of the company’s key tradespeople was
diagnosed with cancer, and who received invaluable support from
Wellspring Calgary. “We know how important the organization
is, and also that cancer is indiscriminate,” Tse notes. “Everyone
knows someone who has been impacted by it — so this really
struck a chord for us.”

Barb Schultz, a Wellspring Calgary member who
resides in the far south end of Calgary, echoes
this sentiment. “I was enjoying retirement
and travel with my husband in 2012
when an abnormal mammogram
and subsequent biopsy led to a
diagnosis of breast cancer on
Valentine’s Day.”
As Barb browsed through a
Wellspring Calgary brochure at
the Tom Baker Cancer Centre,
she saw programs such as Tai Chi
and Expressive Arts that were on her
‘someday’ list of things to do, and there she
says she began her journey to wellness.
“I found a warm, welcoming atmosphere of joy,
friendship, and laughter at Wellspring,” says
Barb, adding, “I’ve taken many Wellspring classes
that have led to amazing self-discovery… I am
profoundly changed.”
Barb is especially grateful to have been able to
access classes such as Brain Fog, iRest Yoga
Nidra and Creative Journaling at the various
south Wellspring Calgary locations offered by
homebuilders Cedarglen, Cardel and Albi. “I was
able to conserve energy during difficult treatments
and save hours of travel time,” she says.
“Wellspring has helped heal my mind, body and
spirit. I have made new friendships with deep
connections, shared laughter and gained valuable
insights.”
Thanks to their generous funding in
2014, Wellspring has been able
to maximize capacity at
Carma House, expand
programs, develop new
programs to respond
to member demand,
pilot programs in
south Calgary, identify
critical elements that
will be necessary
components of growth,
seek the feedback of key
stakeholders to inform longrange plans, and much more.
At this juncture, better prepared for
growth and with a stronger sense of
strategic direction to guide next steps,
Wellspring looks forward to how the
Alberta Cancer Foundation will continue
to play a vital role with us in supporting
our community more fully.

For Lillian Bouclin, mother of three young adults and a social worker
employed in the non-profit sector, “Wellspring Calgary has been a Godsend.”
When news that she had breast cancer took her down a new a path,
she first spent time proving to herself and her kids that she was
okay, and then she chose to fortify her journey with Wellspring
Calgary programs.
“It’s incredible to think that in my 60s I’m learning things
like mindfulness, meditation and even just how to really
breathe,” says Lillian underscoring her favourite Wellspring
yoga class, where the facilitator has impressed upon her
the importance of honouring your body.
On the ski trip to Lake Louise, Lillian took to heart the
philosophy that people are more than their cancer when the
facilitator encouraged participants to talk with each other about
three or four non-cancer things they had in common. “It was great
that we could just get out there and be skiers!”
In the Mindful Mountain Hiking program, she says she finds
nature soothing and she marvels at the patience of the facilitators and the warmth and camaraderie of the hiking group. “I
call it ‘no-jock’ mountain hiking and ‘no-jock’ yoga, because at
Wellspring there is absolutely no competition, no judgement, no comparison of abilities; people just accept you
exactly as you are, where you are.”
Perhaps the greatest homage Lillian pays to Wellspring is
when she pauses and sums it up as her refuge. “I don’t have
family in Calgary, my daughters are all scattered throughout Canada
and the United States. But Wellspring Calgary is my sanctuary – it gives
me constant unwavering support.”
At Wellspring people just accept you
exactly as you are,
where you are.”

Cancervive was the brainchild of cancer survivor and one of the
early Wellspring Calgary board members, Brian McGregor, who
wanted to support those living with a cancer diagnosis. In 2005 he
led a group of cyclists from Calgary to Austin, Texas. Since then,
Cancervive has grown and been rerouted to various destinations,
and now includes cancer survivors, warriors, riders, challenge riders,
volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and you, people who together have
raised over $2 million in support of Wellspring programs for anyone living
with cancer and their loved ones.
Since 2009, World Health (Edgemont club) has been supporting Wellspring
Calgary through its annual golf tournament. It has evolved this connection by
becoming involved in our events and directing its annual fundraising throughout the
year to Wellspring. As Wellspring gratefully accepts the support of this generous
organization, we are mindful of the compatibility of our missions: World Health aims
to enrich people’s lives by inspiring health and fitness, while Wellspring’s mission is to
improve the quality of life for those living with cancer. Wellspring is fortunate
to have such a great community partner supporting us so faithfully year
after year.
In 2014, this group rode from Edmonton to Calgary through rural Alberta. This four-day,
400 kilometer trip raised nearly $120,000 thanks to the dedicated riders and volunteers
who made their journey a benefit to those facing their own cancer challenges.
Moira Lemke was at the finish line of this year’s ride to welcome the
group, including her 24-year-old son Rory who had signed up to do the
ride in tribute to his mom.
“I was so touched that he did that for me,” said the mother of three,
who was still undergoing treatment for breast cancer at the time of
the Cancervive ride. “It wasn’t easy but he did it. Wearing bright green
runners and riding a borrowed bike, he made it and I was proud!”
After her cancer diagnosis early in 2014, Moira found that many roads
led her to Wellspring Calgary. “I’ve been a career consultant at the
Haskayne School of Business for many years and my friend and
co-worker Rita Egizii is one of the three co-founders of Wellspring
Calgary,” says Moira, adding that both the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and
the Breast Cancer Supportive Care Foundation also provided referrals to
Wellspring.
I wish there
was a Wellspring
for everyone,
cancer or no
cancer! It has
such a positive
influence on
your life.”
Moira participated in a variety of Wellspring programs and experienced
deep personal fulfillment and astonishing revelations in the yoga and art
classes. In yoga she learned to celebrate her body rather than curse it
for being weary and unwell. In watercolour she found deeper meaning
in being guided to just let the paint form its own picture. “To me that
speaks of life. Let it unfold, don’t try to control everything,” she said.
But most of all, at Wellspring she just felt at home.
“You get to go there and feel normal. It doesn’t matter if you have hair
or you don’t have hair, or whether you can execute a yoga pose or you’re
just giving it your best shot. If you just need to put your head down and
stop that’s okay. There’s no judgement. You’re accepted.”
Moira shares her realization that cancer doesn’t define you and says
you can live your best possible life with cancer and beyond. “I wish
there was a Wellspring for everyone, cancer or no cancer! It has such a
positive influence on your life.”
Thomas is one such
member who enjoys
participating in programs with a focus on fitness and health.
In 2014, World Health participated in Wellspring’s two signature
events. At triWELLathon, instructors from World Health ran
fitness sessions for our members. For our annual Toupee for
a Day event, World Health staff enthusiastically donned the
colourful Toupees to show their support and raise funds and
awareness for people living with cancer. World Health is one of
our outstanding community partners bringing health and wellness
to the community and our members.
“I was a relatively healthy 22-year-old university student, when a series of doctors’ appointments
revealed that I had a rare type of leukemia,” says Thomas. “The diagnosis forced me to take a year off
school and focus on the things that are most important to me: my health and family.”
While receiving treatment, Thomas relied heavily on his family for support but struggled to find
other young adults who could relate to the challenges and suffering he was experiencing.
Eventually he discovered a support group for young adult (YA) survivors, and through that he
made the connections that led him to Wellspring Calgary.
“Since joining the Wellspring family, I have participated in cooking classes, fitness and yoga
programs, outdoor adventures like skiing and hiking, and a variety of social events,” says
Thomas. “Each of these programs has had a positive impact, motivating me to change
my life for the better via diet, exercise, and recreational activities.”
As he highlights the joys of hiking and skiing, the calming effects of yoga, and
the rejuvenation of exercise, Thomas notes his enjoyment of Wellspring Calgary
programs that are specifically designed just for young adults who have been
diagnosed with cancer. “I find it easiest to relate to people my own age and these
programs have helped me to connect with a great group of young adults who have
undergone life experiences similar to my own,” he says.
Overall, Thomas says Wellspring Calgary has done wonders for his physical and psychological
health. “And for all of this, I am extremely grateful!”
Each of these programs has had a positive impact,
motivating me to change my life for the better via
diet, exercise, and recreational activities.”

Did you know?
An astounding 163 volunteers
collectively provided 9,163 hours
of support to
Wellspring Calgary in 2014
Wellspring Calgary thanks each and every one
of these talented people who, individually and together,
enriched our workforce and enhanced our ability
to make a positive impact in the lives of all those
we have the privilege of serving.
Anonymous Foundation
Foundations provide vital support to non-profit
organizations in our community. Both private family
foundations and public corporate foundations make our
communities better, ensuring support for those who need
services. For the past several years, including 2014, one
particular foundation (which chooses to remain anonymous)
has generously supported our Caregiving and Self-Care
program pillars.
Some partnerships are just meant to be.
When Nu-Way Floor Fashions (whose many
products include carpets) became Wellspring
Calgary’s toupee sponsor for the first Toupee
for a Day event in 2012, the connection was
obvious. And a slightly-cheeky slogan was
born… “the best rugs in town.”
“Wellspring Calgary is an
organization we really believe
in,” says Fred Gifford,
President and CEO of the
family-run company and
presenting sponsor of
Toupee for a Day. “You don’t
have to be a big company
to make a big difference in
people’s lives; you just have to
care,” he said, underscoring the fact
that every $100 raised gives one Wellspring
Calgary member a month of free programs. “An
event like Toupee for a Day can help hundreds of
people.”
Having lost his own wife to cancer, Gifford
understands the toll the disease can take
on families. “You may not think your
sponsorship has an impact, but when
someone living with cancer comes up to
you and says ‘thank you’, the reward is
immeasurable.”
You don’t have to be a big
company to make a big
difference in people’s lives;
you just have to care.”
For Lori Healy, the Toupee event resonates.
“Lots of people say the hair is silly or wearing
it is embarrassing, but I tell them to me it
represents all the different colours of cancer
and wearing it gives me an opportunity to speak
about it and bring awareness to Wellspring
programs,” she explains.
Diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2007, Lori overcame
great odds when she recovered from surgery and lived well
beyond the three year life expectancy doctors gave her. Although she
has endured major paralysis to her left side, she has managed to
continue to enjoy a relatively full and active life.
In 2008 she became a Wellspring Calgary member and she and
her husband Len, who had quit his job to care for her, began taking
classes. “We took Tai Chi together and found it very beneficial,” she
said.
Lori went on to try various other Wellspring classes and events and
today she continues to participate in Healthy Steps™, Tai Chi and
Moves in Rhythm, on a weekly basis. “These classes have helped
me regain a lot of my strength, mobility, balance, co-ordination and
brain function,” said Lori.
Nowadays, what’s equally important to Lori is to get the message
out to others about the benefits of Wellspring Calgary. The first year
of the Toupee event, she raised funds by wearing her toupee. In year
two, she jumped in wholeheartedly, donning the toupee (even at the
dog park), dancing in the flash mob, and doing all she could to raise
awareness about Wellspring.
Applicable to many people living with cancer
and their caregivers, programs in this
pillar reflect an array of topics including:
grief; living well with cancer; emotional
and spiritual issues; influence of
physical issues on the mind and spirit;
managing thoughts through stress
reduction techniques; and, a search for
purpose and meaning in life. Workshops

Bob Glasgow is one of many esteemed Wellspring
Calgary facilitators. Bob has been a pastor, a
chaplain and a counsellor throughout his
notable career, and perhaps is best
known for being the founder of the
Bob Glasgow Grief Support Program
offered by Alberta Health Services.
Now in retirement, he divides his time
between counselling first responders
at STARS Air Ambulance, and
providing group and individual sessions
at Wellspring Calgary.
“It’s a community that is very centred
in its aim to give people the space, the
framework and the pathways to process and
reflect on the human experience.”
In Bob’s Thursday drop-in sessions at Wellspring, he finds
that the group format helps members overcome feelings of
isolation that often accompany cancer. “The group setting
can be very powerful; it connects people to others who
share similar suffering,” he says. In individual sessions
with Bob, members receive a private space to explore their
emotions. “These sessions often ground them and can
help them find meaning and direction in the chaos of their
emotions.”
Having spent many years running the grief support
program at the Rockyview Hospital, Bob is glad to continue
to play a role in a healing model that so aptly complements
the medical community. “My work at Wellspring reminds
me of my favourite quote by Sulmassy: ‘True healing will
involve three very simple human elements: compassion,
touch and conversation.’”
“Wellspring has been a Godsend to me and my family,” she said. “It
gives me a good feeling to know I’m doing something to give back.”

Brookfield Residential marked its indelible commitment to
supporting people in our community back in 2008 when this
tremendously generous company presented Wellspring Calgary with
the gift of Carma House. Together with a team of over 300 employees,
tradesman and contractors, Wellspring’s wondrous home-like centre
was lovingly resurrected in just one day, and within 12 months it was
filled with members, volunteers and staff – a community of profound
sustenance.

“Financial concerns add another layer of
complexity for people dealing with cancer,”
says Cindy Railton, a Nurse Practitioner at the Tom
Baker Cancer Centre (TBCC) who is also a member
of Wellspring Calgary’s Program Committee.
“Often people are already overwhelmed
physically and emotionally, and
money becomes another significant
stressor for them and their
families. Money Matters helps
patients start dealing with
financial issues early on. If
we can help people with their
financial issues, we can help
improve their quality of life during
and after treatment — wherever they

Affordable drug coverage is an area frequently accessed
through the Money Matters program. In February
2015, a Wellspring Calgary member contacted
Money Matters. Due to her cancer diagnosis and
complicated health concerns, she was not able
to return to work post-treatment and lost
her employer-based health benefits. She
was advised that a private health benefit
plan would cost her $500 per month, which
she could not afford. Instead, she turned to
Alberta Blue Cross for health coverage. After
spending hours talking to a representative,
completing and submitting forms, she was told
that she did not qualify because she had cancer.
She would have to wait until she was cancer free for five
years before she was eligible for coverage.
After a one-on-one consult with Wellspring’s Money
Matters program coordinator, she learned about two
accessible coverage options: Non-Group Coverage or Health
Plus. Neither of these programs requires medical information to
qualify for coverage. She also learned other beneficial information,
like how she could reduce her prescription drug costs by asking
her doctor for generic forms of her medications. For seven
months, this member had been paying for her medications out of
pocket, putting her in debt of more than $2,000 a month without
ever knowing that another solution might be possible or available
to her. Money Matters was there for her, and so many others like
her.
Sincere thanks are extended to Calgary Foundation, RBC
Foundation and a host of individual and anonymous donors who
support this program to ensure our members receive the help they
need during their cancer journey.

“That build day was certainly a pivotal point for many of us at
Brookfield (then called Carma), but it was just one of many days in a
rich history we now share with Wellspring Calgary,” said Alan Norris,
CEO and President, Brookfield Residential.
This brand of altruism is precisely what Brookfield Residential is
known for and according to Norris, it’s a standard he hopes to inspire
others to adopt. “Companies should be engaged in the communities
where they do business,” continues Norris. “This is how you
give back, how you communicate your values and how your own
employees embrace what you stand for.”
In the case of Wellspring Calgary, hundreds of
Brookfield employees demonstrated that they
stand for people helping people, and our
members can attest to the difference this has
made in their lives.
One such
member is Barry Blick.
When Barry was diagnosed
with prostate cancer in 2013,
he was haunted by the memory
of his father’s death years earlier
following unsuccessful cancer surgery.
“My fear of all the potential things that could go wrong put me
into a place of total procrastination,” said Barry. “The dread was so
great that I put off facing surgery for almost a year.”
It was during that year that Barry’s wife introduced him to Wellspring Calgary. She
had a sense that he would benefit from some of the expressive arts programs.
Barry, a busy commercial photographer, had some doubts, but at her urging he
became a Wellspring member and signed up for some art classes.
“I got right into it!” said Barry, adding, “Art put me firmly in the moment; my fears
of cancer were quieted and I even came up with a few nice art pieces!”
Barry also managed to overcome his reservations about treatment and after
successful surgery, he is now considered cancer free.
“Wellspring Calgary offers many worthwhile programs, seminars and events that
really can bring relief during the challenges of cancer,” said Barry. “Take a deep
breath of fresh air… exhale slowly… feel good? That’s Wellspring Calgary!”

Individuals are the mainstay of our success.
People give in traditional ways, participate in events,

If a picture can say a thousand words, imagine what
about 75 works of art can say about one family’s
generous spirit. In January 2014, Wellspring
Calgary thanked the family of Mary and the
late Lloyd Mjolsness for their generous
donation of $57,050, the proceeds from an art
auction held in late 2013 — part of their lifetime
collection of Western paintings and bronzes.
“My parents had a wonderful collection,” says daughter
Marilyn Will, a retired nursing instructor with an emphasis on
oncology, and a volunteer at Wellspring Calgary since its inception.
“Our family members all have some pieces from the collection and
when it came time for my mom to downsize, she was happy to sell
the rest and donate the funds, knowing it would support a great
organization. My dad would have been quite pleased to know their
collection is helping people.”
“It’s hard to think that the collection has been broken up — but great
to know that it will help Wellspring Calgary programs,” said Mary.
She hopes, too, that other families will see their own
opportunity to do something similar when it comes time to
downsize.

For the past four years, Gary Boucher has given Wellspring Calgary
members something that seems to be in increasingly short supply in
today’s busy world: time. He spends plenty of it practicing the simple
yet powerful act of listening. “People like and need to talk about things,
and sometimes it’s easier to talk to a stranger than someone who is well
known and close to you,” says Boucher, one of Wellspring Calgary’s Peer
Support volunteers.
These trained volunteers are not counsellors, but play a vital
role in warmly welcoming new members to Wellspring
Calgary and giving all members someone to talk to
whenever they feel the need.
“You’d think that a guy like me, in my mid-60s,
wouldn’t have much in common with a woman who
has breast or ovarian cancer,” he notes, “but we don’t
have medical kinds of discussions. We talk about the
cancer process, about issues with family or friends,
anything on their minds. When someone wants to talk,
I’m here to listen. It may be for an hour or two. It may
be only once. It’s whatever someone wants to talk about,
whenever they want to talk about it.” It’s important, he says, to
just “be there” when someone is talking, and to let members drive the
conversation.
While Boucher has had cancer and understands much of what people
are going through, he shares his own experience only when asked. “It’s
not about me,” he explains. Sometimes those conversations are sad,
occasionally they are happy and most of the time they are somewhere
between the two. All are confidential. And at the end of every one,
Boucher offers one more gift. He asks a question that could easily be a
Wellspring Calgary motto: “Is there anything else we can do for you?”
We sincerely thank the individuals and foundations who have
donated to all Wellspring Calgary programs including Peer Support.

An Invitation
I have had the remarkable privilege of
knowing Jack Anderson and his wife,
Dr. Wendy Ovaris, for some time. They
are the kind of people you want to
be, the kind of people you want your
children to become. They are warmhearted, community-minded and deeply
committed to our western heritage. I have
learned a great deal from both of them.
When we were planning to open
Wellspring Calgary, we reached out
to people who might understand the
need and asked them to consider
investing. Jack and Wendy responded
wholeheartedly.
Over the years, we have been proud to
report to them on what they have made
possible. This year, they surprised
us with an incredibly generous and
well-timed gift. As I said, they are the
kind of people you want to become…
