Medium Speed, Four Stroke Diesel Engines
Beloit, Wisconsin, USA
Fairbanks Morse manufacturing facilities, totaling some 70 acres, are located in Beloit, WI.
Fairbanks Morse Engine was formed
in 1885 by the merger of the Eclipse
Windmill Company and the Williams
Steam Engine Works. Since that
time, Fairbanks Morse Engine has
manufactured a wide variety of
products, with the greatest success
being the manufacture of diesel
engines.
In 1995, FME furthered its global
partnership by acquiring the
exclusive U.S. license to market,
sell, and manufacture MAN B&W
engines for U.S. government
programs, allowing access to a wide
range of technologically advanced
diesel engines that are also “made
in the U.S.A.” FME is currently
manufacturing FM-MAN B&W 48/60
In 1968, FME acquired the exclusive engines for the new integrated
diesel electric-drive T-AKE Lewis
U.S. license to market, sell, and

Emission Control
All engines can be delivered to
comply with the IMO speed
dependent NOx limit, measured
according to the ISO 8178 test
cycles E2/E3 for Heavy Duty Diesel
Engines. The NOx emissions from a
given engine will vary according to
the engine load and the optimizing
power.
100 103 110
Speed (%)
SFOC and NOx are interrelated
parameters, and an engine offered
with both a guaranteed SFOC and
the IMO NOx limitation will be
subject to a tolerance of 5% on the
specific fuel oil consumption.

Fuel consumption rates provided upon request.
Fuel consumption rates are based on ISO reference conditions (25°C ambient
temperature, 25°C cooling water temperature upstream of charge air cooler,
1 bar barometric pressure) and a lower calorific value of the fuel of
42,000 kJ/kg.

MCR = Maximum Continuous Rating
Fuel Stop Power = Blocking the output of the engines at 110% of the rated
output. Overload > 100% may only be run for a short time for recovery and to
prevent a frequency drop in case of sudden load application.
