BULK TRASH PICK UP
Dear Residents,
On behalf of the Township Committee, it is my pleasure to present you
with the 2015 Township calendar. It is filled with a wide variety of useful
information designed to educate and provide insights into our vibrant community.
One of this administration’s goals is to keep our residents well informed, and this
calendar does just that. In this calendar, you will find information about public
works services and how the Township can assist with your residential needs.
Whether you are unsure of when a Bulk trash week is or you need to confirm the
time for the Annual Tree Lighting, this calendar will be a handy resource for all
your questions.
I would like to thank our friends at the Mantua Township School District, especially the art teachers, Ms. D’Alessandro and Mrs. Jordan for helping us with
the cover of this year’s calendar. We asked the students at all three elementary
schools to design a poster that captured “What Mantua Mean Means to Me”.
Congratulations, to the wining poster created by 6th grader, Ishareet Sohal from
JMT School. Please enjoy the other finalist’s posters that are displayed throughout
the calendar.
I wish all of you a safe and Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you
around the Township.
Sincerely,
Pete Scirrotto, Mayor

OUR PARKS
CHESTNUT BRANCH PARK
545 Main Street, Mantua
Named for the Chestnut Branch of the Mantua Creek, Chestnut
Branch Park is more than 109 acres and includes athletic fields
and facilities and two wooded areas of rolling hills with scenic
trails and diverse wildlife. Along the edge of the fields, there are
some wetlands that attract grassland birds as well as woodland
species. A paved path circles the athletic fields, and bicyclists and
walkers make use of this pathway. Follow the path to the right
from the parking lot to get to the Butterfly Garden. The best time
for viewing is mid-day in the summer. Continue on the path and
you arrive at the 9/11 Memorial Place of Reflection with benches
within a landscaped grove.
Summertime at the Park:
Summer means lots of activities and family events to enjoy. The
Mantua Township Recreation Committee hosts a variety of different
events at Chestnut Branch Park ranging from our annual “Bark in
the Park”, Movies at dusk, “School’s Out Camp Out” and various
kid’s programs sponsored by the Gloucester County Board of
Chosen Freeholders. For more information, please visit our website
at www.mantuatownship.com
Pavilion Reservations:
If you are interested in using the Chestnut Branch Park Pavilion,
please contact Park Director, Bill Pine at 856-415-9999.
CERES PARK
403 Pitman Rd, Mantua
Schools Out Camp Out
Ceres Park is a beautiful landscape of natural growth, hosting a thriving community of animal life that includes mammals,
reptiles, amphibians, and many bird species. With an extensive trail system through upland and wetland forests, the
preserve can seem much bigger than 52 acres. From the parking lot, a mile-long path through the forest is criss-crossed
by many less-defined trails. The trails lead through a diverse selection of plant life to beautiful views of Emerald and
Cedar Lakes. Walking/jogging/biking trails lead to the Chestnut Branch of Mantua Creek and through adjacent countyowned lands, allowing visitors to explore beyond the boundaries of the park. To view a trail map of the park, please
visit the Township’s website.

express our gratitude to our Township staff and the many people who
both volunteer and work for our community. I hope that over the next
couple weeks those of you who are consumed with hustling around the

Snow Reminder
Nathan Lenggenhager - 3rd Grade
The Mantua Township Police Department would like to remind all residents that as per L.O. 143-22 there is no parking on ANY Township street during snow emergencies,
or any snowstorm in which snow removal equipment is in use. We ask that all vehicles, portable basketball nets, boats and RVs be removed from all highways, streets and cul-de-sacs to
prevent damage and allow our Public Works Department and other government agencies to effectively plow and clear all highways, streets and cul-de-sacs within the Township safely and
timely. Please keep your vehicles clear of the road until the snow has stopped, AND plows have cleared your street.
L.O. 350-28 prohibits the depositing of snow on any roadway within the Township either by shovel, snow blower, plow or any other means from any driveway, sidewalk or other private
property onto any street within the Township.
To ensure the safety and welfare of all residents, and to assist in the prompt clearing of snow from the roadways, the Mantua Police Department asks that all residents be mindful of these
ordinances to assist in the prompt, safe and effective removal of snow from all Township Roadways.
