FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, RED CARPET EVENT
Make your first day debut in style! Capture all the first
day memories on Midtown’s red carpet. Strike a pose
for the professional “paparazzi”, with options to

DROP OFF AND PICK UP
▸ How does morning drop off work?
▸ You can walk your child into the building, sign him/her in (see binders on lobby
tables), and escort your child to the before school location (determined by arrival
time) or straight to class at 8:10. On the first day, classrooms will be open at 8:00.
All other days are 8:10.
▸ You can use our drop off system by pulling up to the unloading zone and checking
your child in with the adult on staff for drop off duty. If using this option, you may
not exit your car to help your child. Students should be ready to exit with their
book bag and other belongings in the car (not in the trunk!).
▸ How does afternoon pick up work?
▸ All students must be picked up inside the building (please do not call your child on
a cell phone for dismissal).
▸ A schedule is posted at the sign-in/sign-out tables to help you find your child
during our after school program.
▸ Please remember to sign your child out!

during the school day. The office phones are available if
parents need to be called or students may call from their cell

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
When do after school sports & classes begin?
▸ The course catalog lists most dates, with most classes
beginning between the 2nd and 4th week of school.
Is it too late to sign up?
▸ No, we have lots of classes still open.
Who do we contact with questions?
▸ Please contact our Director of Student Services,
Quanee Ross, at [email protected].
2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR
BUS TRANSPORTATION
If we signed up for the bus, do we have to ride daily?
▸ No, but please notify the front desk if your child is not riding the bus home
in the afternoon. We will put ALL bus riders on the bus in the afternoon if we
are not notified otherwise. You may call the front desk or email Michelle at
[email protected] or Chloe Schilling at
[email protected] by 2:00 each day.
• What if we miss the bus?
▸ In the morning, you will need to drive your child to school. If your child
misses boarding the bus in the afternoon, parents must pick up at Midtown.
We dismiss students and make two additional announcements. The bus will
not wait beyond that 2nd announcement. Please remind your child to go
directly to the bus line when called in order to get everyone home on time.

CONNECTING WITH THE STAFF
How do we contact teachers and other staff?
▸ Email is a great way to first contact staff with questions, etc.
▸ Webpages are also great sources of information. You can access email and
webpages by visiting our website at www.merryhillmidtown.com and
following the Parent tab and links to Our Faculty.
▸ If you would like to speak with a teacher directly, schedule a time that is
convenient for both parties. Just before school starts and dismissal time
are very busy for teachers as they need to remain focused on their
students and are unable to give you their complete attention.
2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR
HOW DO I STAY CONNECTED WITH THE SCHOOL?
Staying connected to the school is very simple for our busy families:
▸ Read the weekly newsletter, teacher Friday email & our website
▸ Join the PTSO & be an active member of our school community
▸ Attend open house events & performances throughout the year
▸ Stay in contact with your child’s teacher
▸ Follow us on Twitter for regular classroom happenings (@MHSMidtown)
2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR
FACILITIES
Over the fall and winter, the exterior of our building is getting a
facelift! This will be a multi-year project with phase one beginning in
early fall. While most of the work will not impact students, we want
you to be aware of the changes. We will be taking necessary
precautions to ensure student safety, and we are scheduling the
repairs in such a way to minimize the impact on students and the
school as a whole.
Part one will include replacement of the roof in the center section of
the building along with replacement of all windows on the eastern
wing of the building. We will also be doing work on the boiler.
We are excited about the facility improvements and appreciate the
flexibility and understanding of our Midtown community.
