Model History
In 1940 the German Army Weapons Department instructed the NSU-Werke AG in Neckarsulm
to develop an all-terrain towing vehicle for a small trailer or a small gun (2 cm or 3.7 cm FLAK
PAK). A few months later the first prototypes were finished. The engine in the middle of the
Kettenkrad is from the Opel Olympia and is able to pull a load of 450kg. With three seats and a
maximum speed of 70km/h the Kettenkrad today gets a street legal motorcycle registration.
Description
Special: restored true-to-detail
This small Kettenkrad HK101 was in built in 1944. After it "survived" the war, it was in civilian
use. Bought as a restoration project, the former owner restored it true-to-details until 2009.
Since 2010 it is in possession of a collector.
Many details, such as Tarnlicht and towbar are still in an original condition, with patina finsih.
While restoration, the clutch has been replaced. The engine, gearbox and axles have been
overhauled. All wear parts (chain needle-bearings, fork bushings) on the drive train have been
replaced also.
