new generation of CORONIS® grayscale
displays provides more precision
and increased performance while
maintaining a reputation for the
highest brightness and contrast. The
advanced 10-bit architecture ensures
accurate image representations with
1024 simultaneous shades of gray out
of a palette of 4096.
CORONIS® introduces an innovative
softcopy QA concept that brings a new
degree of transparency to your QA
routine. Together with the intelligent
I-GUARD® sensor, MEDICAL QAWEB provides
an easy-to-use tool for calibration and
QA, ensuring continuous diagnostic
quality and maximum uptime of
your workstation. Running in the
background, MEDICAL QAWEB allows you
to continue diagnoses while automated
QA checks are being executed.Å
MEDICAL QAWEB also includes an online
web service for remote, centralized
image quality management. A secured
network connection guarantees HIPAA
compliance.
Asset management tools provide
a comprehensive overview of all
workstations connected to MEDICAL

MEDICAL QAWEB is available in three
different service levels. The use of an

As image data sets become larger with
every new generation of acquisition
devices, patient throughput becomes an
ever increasing concern. In view of this
evolution, Barco has signed a unique
technology cooperation agreement
with ATI. Under the agreement, Barco
brings a new generation of PCI Express®
based display controllers, featuring ATI’s
powerful FireGL graphics processing
unit, to the medical market.
With a license to adapt ATI’s 2D and
3D technology, Barco has the ability
to optimize the performance of the
graphics accelerators for a variety of
medical imaging applications, including
3D enabled medical imaging. Image
loading, roaming and manipulation
have never been faster and smoother.
CORONIS® display systems feature Barco’s
unique I-GUARD® sensor technology
which continually guards and adjusts
the luminance output of the diagnostic
viewing area. Combined with the
MEDICAL QAWEB software, the patented
I-GUARD® brings fast and easy
calibrations,
automatic
Quality
Assurance
testing
and
remote
diagnoses of the display. The latest
version of I-GUARD® has been further
improved with increased read-out
speed and enhanced sensitivity down
to the lowest luminance levels.
While traditional LCD display systems
typically suffer from luminance nonuniformities up to 30%, the new
CORONIS® displays deliver perfectly
balanced luminance over the entire
screen. Based on an individual
characterization of the image down
to pixel level, the proprietary Uniform
Luminance Technology (ULT) corrects
non-uniformities caused by the LCD
as well as the backlight. Thanks to
this technology, diagnostic images are
DICOM-conform not just in the center
but everywhere on the screen.É
An
intelligent
Ambient
Light
Compensation (ALC) system assures
that CORONIS® systems remain DICOMcompliant under all lighting conditions
by adapting their brightness relative
to the ambient light conditions. If
the level of ambient light no longer
corresponds to the predefined range,
users will automatically be notified.Ç

Featuring an integrated pedestal
concept, CORONIS® enables customized
multi-head configurations. Color and
grayscale, portrait and landscape, 2D
and 3D can be combined as specified
by the user. Thanks to the patent
pending ‘virtual’ hinge system, the
individual heads will move and track
as one integrated system when they
are being adjusted. The very thin bezel
design ensures enhanced reading
comfort in a multi-head setup.
From the start, the new CORONIS® has
been designed for convenience. The
system is easy to set up and the
handy, solid pedestal makes precise,
user-specific adjustments, such as
lifting, tilting and swiveling very easy
to perform. All cables can be neatly
tucked away thanks to an integrated
cable management system.
To counteract eye fatigue, the screen
has been treated with a special,
non-reflective coating. A protective
front cover will also protect the
valuable LCD against damage from
intensive use in clinical rooms.
Moreover, the new CORONIS® display
system can be fitted with an optional
keyboard illumination device. Installed
underneath the display, the dimmable
LED light avoids reflections due to
ambient light and creates the ideal
lighting conditions for every individual
workstation.

CORONIS® 2MP
CORONIS® 2MP is a cost-effective grayscale display system with a resolution of
1600x1200. The system provides a dedicated imaging solution for PACS, CT, MRI,
angiography, ultrasound and orthopedic applications. It can be combined with
either a grayscale display controller or an ATI powered FireGL 3D display controller
that supports dual-head 2MP resolutions.
CORONIS® 3MP
CORONIS® 3MP is the preferred display system for grayscale radiology imaging.
Featuring a resolution of 1536x2048, it provides optimum diagnostic precision
and workflow efficiency in high-resolution PACS imaging, CT, MRI, chest radiology,
angiography, etc. CORONIS® 3MP can be combined with a grayscale display controller
or an ATI powered FireGL 3D display controller that supports dual-head 3MP
resolutions.
CORONIS® COLOR 2MP
CORONIS® COLOR 2MP is a flexible color display system with a resolution of 1600x1200
for accurate diagnosis in a variety of medical applications. Typical application areas
include PACS imaging, color ultrasound, 3D visualization, orthopedic imaging,
cardiology, nuclear medicine, PET-CT fusion, etc. The system comes with an ATI
powered FireGL 3D display controller that supports dual-head 2MP resolutions.

CORONIS® COLOR 3MP DL is a versatile, multi-modality color display system with a
resolution of 1536x2048 and diagnostic luminance backlight technology for
exceptional brightness. It brings optimal workflow productivity to a broad range
of grayscale and color enhanced modalities such as high-resolution PACS imaging,
color ultrasound, color Doppler, pathology imaging, CT, MRI, CAD, chest radiology,
PET-CT fusion, etc. The CORONIS® COLOR 3MP DL display system includes an ATI powered
