Last issue, we asked our readers to send us letters about why they love Megaworld Lifestyle Malls
and our magazine. The letter we loved came from Allan Reyes, telling us about how his entire
family enjoyed the magazine, from his wife and daughter loving the holiday looks, the gift guide
helping him pick out presents for his friends and co-workers, to the restaurant and nightlife
suggestions that helped make his Christmas an unforgettable experience. Allan will take home a
brand new Nikon D51 SLR camera from Pixelpoint by Photoline, located at the 3rd floor of Lucky Chinatown.
Your thoughts are important to us. Send us your feedback at [email protected] or call us at 0917-8380101.
Write an email to [email protected] and tell us what you liked about our Summer issue and bring home a black Eagle Creek

Cristine
Reyes
Embracing the Bright Side of Life
Colorful is one word you can use to describe Cristine Reyes’ life this past year; a
rollercoaster ride of highs from plum roles to prestigious acting awards and lows like
her recent break-up. But she’s not letting any of this get her down – on the contrary,
she’s vowed to face the future with optimism and positive energy. And as her star
keeps on rising this 2013 with exciting new projects coming her way, we can definitely say that Cristine Reyes has embraced the brighter side of life.
23
23
D
uring her photo shoot with us, she exuded a bubbly energy that was infectious, calling for music to
pump up the mood, and nailing pose after pose
in quick succession. In record time it seemed, we
were finished, and we settled down for a quick chat over a bowl
of salad from Stackers in Eastwood City.
“My goal is to be more healthy,” Cristine confided. “I’m training
for running and I go to the gym almost everyday.”
Work Hard
And it’s really important for her to take good care of herself
as her career continues to take off. She not only has multiple
endorsements such as The BaR and Posh Nails, she is also
working on a teleserye and two movies.
Bukas na lang Kita Mamahalin which she co-stars with Gerald
Anderson, is one of the most anticipated primetime teleseryes of
the Kapamilya Network. Cristine plays Amanda, the childhood
friend of Miguel (Gerald Anderson) who vow to end up together.
However, fate has different plans for them as Amanda leaves to
stay in another country.
When she returns, the two of them become lovers, but their
happiness is short-lived as Miguel is thrown behind bars. This
pushes Amanda to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer, as
she hopes to free the man she loves.
Cristine is happy that their team up continues to improve as they
continue filming. “We help each other especially sa mga heavy
scenes,” she shared.
Her next movie project will unite her with Andi Eigenmann,
along with luminaries like Gabby Concepcion, Alice Dixson and
Dina Bonnevie, in a remake of the 1983 movie Nagalit ang Buwan
sa Haba ng Gabi by director Danny Zialcita. This classic film gave
rise to one of the most remembered lines in movie history via
Laurice Guillen - “Ikaw pala. Ikaw pala ang sinasabi ng asawa ko
na asawa mo na asawa ng bayan!” – making this a can’t-be-missed
flick when it hits the big screen.
“In the movie with Gabby, I’m a young entrepreneur. Husband ko
si Jake Cuenca and then magiging ka-affair ko si Gabby Concepcion.
Medyo palaban yung role ko so different siya,” described Cristine.
Cristine is also very excited to be working with veteran actors in
this movie.
“Parang lahat sila tinitingala ko, lahat sila institusyon na. It’s an
overwhelming feeling but as much as possible, I will try na hindi
mahiya. Un yung challenge sa akin,” she shared.
She will also be starring in a movie with Zanjoe Marudo, which
is still in its early stages.
24
Play Hard
While she’s breaking new ground in her career, Cristine is also
looking forward to more adventures during the summer. Her
summer is packed with goals and projects – from getting fit,
saving for future investments, to going for new and thrilling
experiences.
While she’s breaking new ground in her career, Cristine is also
looking forward to more adventures during the summer. Her
summer is packed with goals and projects – from getting fit,
saving for future investments, to going for new and thrilling
experiences.
“I have so many plans!” Cristine exclaimed. She has a
European trip in the works, as soon as “may time”. Summer
also means sports for Cristine and for this adventure-seeker,
what’s up next is skydiving and an auto racing competition
she is organizing with friends in Subic called the Queen’s Cup
(very fitting for Queen Cristine!).
“We’re going to invite artists with sports cars. Mahilig kasi ako
sa cars, sa adrenaline. Mahilig ako sa thrill,” she said. “And
there’s a range in Subic, so after, we’ll train in shooting. My
sister and brother-in-law, that’s what they like, and it’s okay
with me also. I’m the type of girl that’s competitive, I like these
things.” She also loves rides so she’s looking forward to trying
the hair-raising 7 Flags rollercoaster.
Her adventurous spirit can also be seen in her fashion style
and beauty regimen, which she likes to keep simple and
comfortable. We can see her feistiness from the tattoos on
her left and right wrist (the right has the image of a crucifix
attached to a rosary) and she pairs this with a classic look. “I’m
okay with a white shirt, pants and slippers,” she shared.
As for her beauty regimen, she just makes sure to take off
her make-up at the end of the day, wash her face and then
moisturize. For her top five beauty must-haves, she lists an
eyebrow pencil, lip tint, heels, a white shirt and shorts. That’s
ready to-go style!
Cristine also shared that she wanted to live a healthier lifestyle.
Aside from gym and running, she’s also watching what she eats.
“Right now I’m watching what I eat kasi before talaga akala
ko basta todo work, you can burn everything But right now,
kailangan kong magbawas. So less carbs and less sweets,” she
said.
Of course, what’s summer without a trip to the beach with
friends? One of her favorite summer memories was shooting
ASAP in Boracay. “The bonding with the ASAP people, from
the production to the people in the show, it was super fun.
From the taping of the show and then after, we went to sing at
the KTV,” Cristine said.
25
Summer Fun in the City
For summer fun in the metro, Cristine loves going to malls,
where she can shop, watch movies and just hang out with her
friends. Among her favorites are Megaworld Lifestyle Mall’s
Eastwood City and Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila.
“I grew up in Eastwood City,” Cristine shared. “Even when
I was still studying at Bridget’s, my friends and I go there
already. We go bowling, and then Starbucks, Coffee Bean &
Tea Leaf, we’re always there.”
Among her favorite restaurants
in Eastwood are Stackers,
Johnny Rockets, My Thai and
Red Mango. She also loves
watching movies at Eastwood
Mall, especially in the luxurious
Ultra 7 Cinema, which feature
the country’s first fully reclining
twin seats and where refillable
popcorn and bottomless drinks
are served by butlers.
Megaworld Lifestyle Malls are
also known for being pet-friendly
as it was recently inducted into
the Order of the Platinum Paw
by the Philippine Animal Welfare
Society (PAWS). Eastwood Mall
is also the first pet-friendly mall
in the country - pet owners need
only to secure a pet pass for their
pets to roam freely inside the
malls, and they can also dine with
them at restaurants with al-fresco
areas. This is perfect for Cristine,
who loves to hang out with her
three dogs.
‘‘
When she’s hanging out with her friends, she’s the perfect
hostess - she likes to cook (usually Filipino food) and serve
drinks like Emperador’s The BaR
Margarita, which she serves over
ice.
I want to have my
own happy family,
that’s my dream.
Right now I’m happy; I’m
content with what I have.
Eventually, I want to win
another award, another
box office queen award
and have another block
buster film. Right now,
habang bata, asikasuhin
muna ang career. Pero a
happy family, yun talaga
ang gusto ko.
”
Cristine also frequents Newport
Mall in Resorts World Manila,
to watch movies, eat at one of
her favorite dining spots Krazy
Garlik, and then going out with her friends to Opus and
Republiq, establishments considered as one of the metro’s
hottest nightlife destinations.
But surprisingly, aside from having an active social life, Cristine
admits she also needs her alone time, and would like to on a
nature trip if she could fit it in her busy schedule.
“I also want to go trekking. I haven’t done this for a long time,
the last time was when I was a kid but I really want to do it
again. I just can’t find time for it yet,” she added.
26
She says she always finds time to meet with her pastor and
attend her bible study. She also revealed that sometimes, she
would even stay in her room for one or two days, just reading
and playing with her three puppies – a Pomeranian named
Kobe Bryant, a beagle named Peter Parker, and a golden
retriever she just recently adopted. She also likes to do the
groceries and clean and organize her place!
Looking forward
to the Good Life
Cristine, a domestic diva? Not
surprising because this is actually
her ultimate dream.
“You won’t believe it but I want to
have my own happy family, that’s
my dream. Right now I’m happy;
I’m content with what I have.
Eventually, I want to win another
award, another box office queen
award and have another block
buster film. But this isn’t forever.
Right now, habang bata, asikasuhin
muna ang career. Pero a happy
family, yun talaga ang gusto ko,”
she explained.
For her, living the good life means
sharing it with her loved ones, her
family and friends.
“It’s about sharing with them your
blessings. Syempre pagblessed ka
di ba dapat shineshare mo? And
living your dreams, doing what
you want. Basically, things are not that important to me,” she said.
Her advice to other women her age on how to live the Good
Life? “Do what makes you happy. Live like there’s no tomorrow.
Always be positive about life and don’t let the negativity get in,”
she advised.
From what we’ve seen, she’s definitely already practicing what she
preaches. And a sunny outlook is definitely the perfect complement
for Cristine’s bright summer ahead!

This summer, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls invites gourmands to
experience la dolce far niente (the sweet art of idleness) at its latest
dining destination - Tuscany at McKinley Hill, Fort Bonifacio, a
scenic restaurant row filled with quiet charm.
Regal arches, stone details, vibrant hues, and wrought iron
grillwork provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation and
romance. Diners can imbibe the Italian passion for good food
at unique dining establishments serving European and other
international cuisines.
At Trattoria Poggio Antico, diners
can get a taste of authentic Tuscan
cooking, which focuses on the
beauty of simplicity, letting the true
flavors of local ingredients shine.
Hearty soups, fresh bread, simple
cuts of meat and seafood, and of
course, the native olive oil, feature
heavily on the menu.
Among the delicious dishes you can
try are Carpaccio di Manzo, thinly
sliced tenderloin in olive oil, aragula,
parmesan and button mushroom, and Anti pasto piatto dello Chef,
chef’s choice of assorted italian cold cuts in truffle oil, for antipasti.
For a light salad, order the Insalata di Stagione, a mixed green
salad and for a filling soup, the Minestone Genevese al Pomodoro.
A variety of pastas, pizzas and risottos are also available, and for
steak lovers, the Bistecca alla Fiorentina, a USDA ribeye steak with
baked potato and asparagus, is a can’t miss dish.
Diners can also enjoy other European food experiences at
Tuscany
Tuscany Estates. For a rollicking good time, they can stop by
Wursty Wursty, a German beer garden that serves up imported
beer and delicious wursts. This place is a great introduction to
German cuisine with schnitzel
(a breaded cutlet dish), spaetzle
(homemade pasta with cheese,
garnished with chives and
served with bread) and Black
Forest ham on the menu.
Then there are the different
kinds of wursts from
the spicy Curry Wurst, to varieties of Bratwursts like with
Bavarian Smokey, Spiced Creole, Kielbasa and Hungarian. The
Schweinshaxe, German Oktoberfest Pork Knuckle served with
marble potatoes and apple sauce, is another item to try. Turkish
cuisine is also available, like shish kebabs and doner (which
is similar to shawarma). Wash this all down with a Carlsberg,
Paulaner or their other imported beer and enjoy a great summer
evening.
Foodies will have even more to look forward to this summer as
restaurants featuring artisanal cooking, Spanish cuisine, delis
and coffee shops, among others, will also be making their way
to Tuscany Estates. Other dining establishments opening soon
include Banapple, Serenitea, B&T Mexican Kitchen, Milky
Way, Sophie’s Mom, Planet Grapes, Sauceria, T.A.K.A. Japanese
Restaurant, Blaecker St., Marciano’s, Terry Selection, Coffee Bean
& Tea Leaf, Black Canyon Coffee and International Thai Cuisine,
BBQ Chicken & Beer and Ukokkei Ramen Ron.
Get a taste of Tuscan cuisine and other European dishes this
summer at Tuscany at McKinley Hill.
