Kathleen Hamrick - Art Teacher
Ben Shurr - Theatre Director
Kathleen Hamrick was born in Houston and grew up in
Plano, Texas. She graduated from Plano Senior High School
in 2004, then moved to Baltimore to attend the Maryland
Institute College of Art. While at MICA, Kat decided to
become an art teacher, and finished her degree at the
University of North Texas in 2008.
Ben hails from the small rural town of Birmingham Ohio,
where he was a Firelands HS Falcon until graduating in 1996.
From there he attended the local community college earning
his Associate in Arts degree and soon after moved to
Columbus, Ohio to attend The Ohio State University. He
graduated with a BA in Theatre, focusing on Technical
Theatre, specifically set, make-up and sound design. Upon
graduating, he worked as a professional make-up artist and
roadie. As a roadie for Proton Productions, he worked with
over 100 shows ranging from Ozzfest to the Montreux Jazz
Festival.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Kat began
teaching at Gunstream Elementary in Frisco ISD. She taught
elementary art for two years before opening Maus Middle
School in 2010. While at Maus, Kathleen taught Art 1, Art 2,
Art 3 & yearbook; she currently teaches the latter three.
She began writing curriculum for Fine Arts last year, and
continues to help the FISD Visual Arts department develop
their curriculum.
She also enjoys traveling and has taken students on
international trips to Paris, London, Venice, Florence, and
Rome. She plans to take students to Costa Rica this June.
In her spare time, Kat enjoys painting, drawing, cooking,
and watching shows on Netflix. She also enjoys going to
concerts and trying new restaurants around town. She and
her boyfriend Jeff have one "child" in the form of a feisty 8
year old mini Schnauzer named Lupe.
Upon moving to Texas he received his teaching certificate
and began teaching at Lancaster High School in 2003 and
joined the Frisco High School faculty in 2005, teaching
Technical Theatre I-IV and Theatre Arts I. Throughout his
tenure at FHS he has Technically Directed over 50 shows and
events, Directed 6 main stage productions, gone to State
with the UIL OAP once and had at least one State Qualifier in
the UIL Technical Design competition for the past five years
In his spare time he is watching football (Go Buckeyes!),
playing/writing music, organizing music concerts, grilling or
just relaxing on his patio with his wife, Liz, and his two dogs,
Beasley and Byron.
He is thrilled to be a Reedy Lion and looks forward to
establishing a great theatre department at RHS, as well as
building the school as a whole, in unified greatness!

Steven Hare–Spanish Teacher
Steve has been married to his wonderful wife Janie for 37
years and describes their lives together as an adventure.
They have raised two incredible children, Andrea and
Randal, who spent their early childhood in Texas and their
teen years living in Venezuela. The Hares’ mostly Texan
and partly Venezuelan family culture became truly
multicultural with the addition their daughter-in-law,
Ayako, who is from Japan. The family has expanded to
include three grandchildren who are with their proud
grandpa in the picture. Luna (7) and Taiyo (5), have lived
in both Japan and Texas and speak three languages. Baby
Maisie is the family’s Little Valentine as she was born on
February 14th this year and is, of course, totally amazing!
In addition to spending time with their family, Steve and
Janie enjoy traveling and have had the opportunity to see
many wonderful places. Two of the Hares’ most
memorable travel experiences were visiting Angel Falls
(the world’s tallest) and watching the sun rise from the
top of Mt. Fuji.
James Neve -English Teacher
James grew up in Dallas, attending Skyline and Dallas
Christian. He earned his bachelor's at Oklahoma Christian,
and his master's at University of Dallas. James taught
American Literature for 25 years at the Winston School of
Dallas before coming to Frisco High School, where he
taught 9th and 12th grade English. He is glad to have the
once-ever chance to help open a school!!
James loves working with kids, and has taught all ages. He
has run an after-school program, an outdoor education
program, developed a bicycling team, chaperoned a Dead
Poet's Club, taught guitar, and hosted an evening
woodworking class. He loves camping, cooking, gardening,
working on his own cars, disc golf, and playing guitar/
mandolin with his friends.
James and Kim are empty-nesters who raised their four
children in Frisco since '92. They garden, enjoy the BBC,
and like remodeling their home. Kim volunteers at Frisco
elementary schools and the Frisco Heritage Museum, and
enjoys book restoration. They think their marriage may
work out, after all. Go LIONS!
Tabitha Still - Testing/504 Coordinator
Tabitha was born and raised in Del City, Oklahoma. She is currently the Testing and 504 Coordinator at Cobb Middle School,
where she also taught Skills for Independent Living for 4 years. Tabitha earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University
of Central Oklahoma in 2008. Upon graduating she moved to McKinney, Texas.
She later earned a Masters of Education-Administration from Emporia State
University in 2012.
Tabitha enjoys interior design, antiquing, quilting and sewing in her free time.
She has been married to her husband, Kendall Still, for 15 years. Together they
have one adorable English Bulldog, Ellie.
Daniel Vargas - Spanish Teacher
Kelly Munro - CTE Dept. Chair/Teacher
Señor Vargas was born in Mexico and came to the United
States to go to college at The University of Texas at El Paso.
After graduating in 2006 with a degree in Spanish he
moved to Dallas to work at Thomas Jefferson High School.
While at Thomas Jefferson, Señor Vargas taught upper
level Spanish to native speakers for 8 years. He was also a
soccer coach for 7 seasons. He is currently teaching
Spanish at Hunt MS in Frisco.
Kelly Munro comes to Reedy High School from Frisco High
School where she has taught for the past 12 years in the CTE
department. She has been the CTE department chair at FHS
as well as the Business Professionals of America Advisor.
She has been involved in BPA for many years and has been
the Regional Co-Advisor for BPA for the past 6 years, and
served on the Texas BPA State Board for the past two years.
Señor Vargas loves teaching Spanish and he is passionate
about Spanish and Latin-American literature. He takes
pride in his culture and in teaching his native language to
his students.
Señor Vargas has been married to Karla for 12 years and
has two sons, Pablo (11), Santiago (5) and a daughter
Rebeka (3).
Kelly graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a
Business Degree and a Concentration in Management
Information Systems. She went back to school to get her
Master’s in Secondary Education from Texas A&M at
Commerce, after changing career paths to become a
teacher.
Kelly is married to Mike and has a first grade daughter
Caitlyn and a second grade son Connor who both attend
Hosp Elementary. Both children are very involved in sports;
Caitlyn does tumbling and plays soccer for the Frisco Soccer
Association while Connor plays soccer with FC Dallas and
hockey with the Dallas Stars Metro
Hockey League.
Amina Chaghani - Spanish Teacher
Ms. Chaghani is a native north Texan. She comes from Cobb Middle School where she currently teaches Spanish 1 and
Introduction to Spanish. She graduated from Bonham High School and then attended The University of Texas at Austin.
While at UT, Ms. Chaghani was a part of the UTeach program and graduated with a
bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language Teaching.
Before joining the Frisco ISD family Ms. Chaghani taught Spanish 1-4 at Van Alstyne High
School. While at Van Alstyne, she coached UIL spelling and reestablished the Spanish Club.
Ms. Chaghani is so excited to be a part of the Reedy Family!
In her free time, Ms. Chaghani loves to travel, try new foods, and spend time with family.

If you’ve already lettered at your current campus you will be able
to order your Reedy HS letter jacket in May, during lunch periods.
