First Communicants
Please keep our second graders in your prayers as
they prepare to receive Jesus for the very first time
in Holy Eucharist in the upcoming weekends. On
May 14 KCSS First Communicants will be
celebrated at the 8:20 a.m liturgy and will be
leading the school in our annual May Crowning of
Mary. Please plan on attending this beautiful
celebration.
A HUGE THANK YOU!
KCSS sends a HUGE “THANK YOU” to the
Kaukauna Catholic School Athletic Association for
the recent check in the amount of $25,000! Thank
you to all the volunteers who volunteered
throughout the year to help raise funds for the
KCSSAA. God bless you all for helping Catholic
education to continue and grow in Kaukauna.
Tornado & Severe Weather Awareness Week
Today, Thursday, April 16, 2015, a statewide
tornado drill was held. This drill was an ideal
opportunity for school staff and students to practice
their safety procedures for severe weather. Today
is a great opportunity for you and your family to
practice your home plan in case of severe weather.
Art & Technology Fair / Open House
Thursday, April 23, KCSS will be having an Art &
Technology Fair and Open House Please mark
your calendars and plan on attending this event,
which allows our students to share with you their
talents through various art and technology projects.
If you know of anyone who is thinking about joining
our KCSS family, this would be a great opportunity
for them to come and see what we are all about.
See posted flyer for more details.

Week of April 20th ~ 24th
Monday
This week we continue to look at the Cardinal Virtue of Temperance. Part
of the Virtue of Temperance is Fear of the Lord. The gift of fear of the Lord
is the foundation on which the other gifts are built. This is a good fear, the
kind of fear you would have about going against your parents will.
Tuesday
Fear of the Lord fills us with respect for God who is so great. Fear of the
Lord makes us feel bad when we offend God through sin. Therefore we
avoid any occasion to offend God our Father.
Wednesday
The beatitude related to the Gift of Fear of the Lord is, “Blessed are the
poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3
Thursday
The Gift of Fear of the Lord enables us to seek God Himself as our only
treasure. By living the beatitude “poor in spirit” we are free from greed and
pride. Greed makes us think only of ourselves and not the other person,
which keeps us from being close to God. Being prideful means we have too
much self-esteem or self-love. This means we desire more attention, up
and above what we should be given.
Friday
The Gift of Fear of the Lord only brings us closer to Him. Mary had the Gift
of Fear when the angel Gabriel appeared to her and asked her to be the
Mother of Jesus. Mary’s response is “I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be
done to me as you say.” Mary gives herself as a servant, to fulfill His will, to
avoid whatever might offend Him, and to grow closer to God in love and
devotion. Pray to Mary our Mother when you feel you need help to grow
closer to God. Let us pray together Hail Mary...

TEAM KCSS 2015
The 8th Graders of KCSS have been busy planning a fundraising Walk-A-Thon to help raise money for
Catholic Relief Services (CRS). For more than 70 years, CRS has been providing expertise and
compassion to the very poorest of our brothers and sisters in 93 countries on 5 continents. They reach
almost 100 million people without regard to race, religion or nationality.
The Walk-A-Thon is May 1. We are asking for your support to help us reach our goal of $250 to help
CRS feed hungry families, provide health care and clean water, protect orphans, and help farmers raise
crops. 100% of monies raised will go to CRS.
Ways to donate: Make a pledge donation to one of our students, drop off a donation at school or go
online to the TEAM KCSS 2015 donation page to give by credit card at:

MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW!
Scrip credits for this school year have been submitted – for the families that take advantage of this great FUNdraising
option, they have seen some amazing discounts on their tuition. One family received close to $500 in scrip credit this
school year, another received over $800! This is basically FREE money for using scrip for every-day purchases. How
great is that?! The opportunities to save money on your tuition by using scrip cards are pretty incredible, and it is truly
easy and convenient once you start.
Don’t take my word for it though; here are some testimonials from school families who use scrip:
"We have been longtime users of Scrip because it's a great way to support our parish and school without any cost to
us. We use it at businesses that we would shop at regardless of Scrip. The program was great but Shop with Scrip made
it even more convenient. Now we place our order and make our payment online, the order is waiting for us when we pick
it up in the church office. Another nice feature of Shop with Scrip is it shows the dollar amount that is being contributed to
the parish or school designee when the order is placed. That's a nice confirmation that Scrip pays!"
Myron Geiser
Using Holy Cross Scrip is a great way for me to reduce my children’s tuition costs. With having 3 children in private
schools, it can get expensive, but there is no way I wouldn’t send them so using scrip cards as much as possible makes it
affordable. It is such an easy program to use and now that I can order it on-line and have it ready for pickup makes life
easier. Also a great new concept is the ‘scrip now’ where I can download the gift card right to my phone and have it
when I need it. That is the best thing ever!!!
Get out and buy your scrip today!!
Lisa Natrop
I use ‘shop with scrip’ and the ‘my scrip wallet’ app because it’s so easy, and I don’t have to be super organized to use
it. With the app on my phone, I can be physically in the store (Sam’s Club, American Eagle, etc.) order my scrip, and
within a few minutes the order is processed. I get a notification and the checker is able to scan the barcode on my phone
and away I go. I received all the benefits of scrip, I didn’t have to guess how much to buy nor stop into the scrip office to
pick it up.
Or, it’s Saturday, I need to go shopping. I can order scrip from my computer via the ‘shop with scrip’ website, at home. I
print off the ‘bar code’, take the paper with me and use it at the checkout. I never have to worry the office is closed. It’s
right at my fingertips.
