Diocesan Lay Ministry Program
The Pastoral Institute’s Lay Ministry Program is for sponsored
persons who wish to serve in parish ministry. Over a three-year
period, participants are provided academic, pastoral, human and
spiritual formation. If you are open to filling a volunteer ministerial leadership need within the parish, speak with Fr. Ahern
about applying to the Lay Ministry Program for classes that start
in September 2015. Candidates for the program must have parish sponsorship; nominations are now being accepted. Classes:
English Track - Wednesdays: 7:15-9:15 p.m. at St. Teresa of
Avila Rectory, 563 Sterling Place, Brooklyn, NY 11238. Program begins in September. For information, call Fr. Ahern.
The Annual World Communications Day…
hosted
by the Diocese of Brooklyn, will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at
10:00 a.m. at the Marriott in Downtown Brooklyn. Free and open to

Second Collection… next weekend will be for the Catholic Communication Campaign. This collection communicates
the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through podcasts, television, radio and print
media. Half of all proceeds remain in our (arch)diocese and
support local needs, so please be generous in this collection.

Report on the 2015 Parish Social
The 7th annual Parish Social, held on Sunday, April 19th, was
organized by the Haiti Support Group. Thank you to all the
parishioners who made this such a joyful and special event.
Thank you to the talented musicians and DJs; the wonderful
cooks who provided the delicious potluck supper; thank you to
the volunteers who set up, served, and cleaned up and to the
talented creators of the video of St. André Parish. Thank you
to Ms. Beulah Joel who was the guest of honor at the Parish
Social for her years of service to the parish and the community.
The Haiti Support Group is happy to report that the proceeds
from the raffle, entrance tickets at the social, and other donations came to $5372 after expenses. These funds will be used
to support our next project with our twinning partner, St.
André Parish in Dufort, Haiti.
Congratulations to the winners of the raffle who were:
1st Prize: Raffle Ticket Number 3366, bought by Mr. Jean
Guerrier 2nd Prize: Raffle Ticket Number 1463, bought by Mr.
Robert Murphy 3rd Prize: Raffle Ticket Number 3443, bought
by Mr. Marc Chen.

guidelines.
