Weekly Update Newsletter
June 8, 2016 Greetings!
June 7th was a special day in many ways. We had our very first Board of Directors meeting
on our new Chamber Conference Room yesterday. This has been a long time coming. It is
also the anniversary of my employment with the Beach Chamber 6 years ago. I have begged
for meeting space since I began here for all of our Executive Committee, Board of Directors,
Special Events Committee meetings and so on. Had it not been for the City of Clearwater and
the kindness of Dan Crider at the Beach Rec Center, our Chamber would not have had any
adequate space to meet. But now we do. I must say, I was very proud to host our first BOD
meeting and show off our new room.
Next week is our Annual Awards Dinner. This is another very special occasion for our
Chamber, where we get to announce the businesses that have been recognized by the
community. The Hilton Clearwater Beach is this year's host property. They have worked very
hard to showcase this event and have planned a very special evening for us. Plus, they get to
show off some of their new amenities too! Yes, there has been some changes taking place at
the Hilton and you will be able to see that next Tuesday. It is going to be a very special
affair.
I want to thank the Board of Directors for their support and hard work that they do for our
Chamber. Each of them have very full time jobs and a great responsibility to their work, yet,
they each find time to commit to the Chamber to make our community a better place to live,
work and play. Our beach is very lucky to have such dedicated individuals who care about
everyone.

expand her highly successful Radiance Medspa business, it

for her interior design expertise. For this project, design work
encompasses space planning and furniture layout, color
scheme, flooring, finishes, lighting, and art to ensure that the
entire med‐spa is not only functional‐ but creates the desired
ambiance for their clientele: a tasteful atmosphere of

The Palm Pavilion Celebrates 90 Years!
Congratulations to the Palm Pavilion for celebrating
90 years on Clearwater Beach!
Yesterday, on May 31st they celebrated their
anniversary. "Incorporated in 1926 by five partners, the Palm
Pavilion's main purpose then was "...to operate a
bathing pavilion..." According to Susan Emmons the
daughter of Jesse Smith one of the founders. In the
early days the Palm Pavilion was open daily and
comprised of a bathhouse with changing rooms and
towel and wool bathing suit rentals, a dance floor
with jukebox music, a skeeball alley, a picnic area on
the sand and a kitchen."
"According to the state of Florida, this is the oldest
operating beach pavilion in the state of Florida."
