Recently we carried out our Training of Trainers workshop in Wisma Belia, KL. During the
3-days workshop which was attended by 23 persons, we spoke about issues like feminism,
sexuality, sex and gender and human rights and also did training on facilitation. Not to
forget—we had a lot of fun together visiting other organisations or watching a movie ! All
in all we spent a good time and hope that the participants could take a lot of “food for
thoughts” back home !

E-mail to Abby: [email protected]
Past events:
The workshop on Women, Gender & Islam on May 7, was attended by 24 persons, half of
whom were young women! Some of the feedback received :

The „aku siapa‟ video was an eye-opener and provided good information about the
hijab and its historical origins in Malaysia.

Gives alternative views on the hijab.

A better understanding of aspects of the Quran pertaining to women. It‟s people who
discriminate and not the Quran.

There‟s a need to portray the gentler face of Islam especially (regarding
compassion, care & concern of others) and the need to understand it in its context.
