2. Acceptability – All inserts are subject to review by the advertising director for copy and mechanical acceptability prior to insertion.
3. Holiday Insertions – The Sunday preprint prices shall apply for insertion on the following holidays: New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday;
Memorial Day; 4th of July; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day.
4. Page Counts – Preprints containing a gatefold, flap, envelope or blown-in card, add two Pages to total Page count.
5. Quantities – A minimum of 10,000 preprints is required. Delivered quantity requirements are based on circulation ordered plus provisions for unsold
copies of the newspaper, estimated shipment and machine damage and margin to provide for unpredictable circulation increases. Circulation is variable;
therefore, it is recommended that the advertiser confirm delivered quantity requirements with their Lexington Herald-Leader account executive prior to
reserving. Any disputes in billing quantities must be communicated and resolved within 90 days of insertion.
All Preprint insert prices are quoted as net cost per thousand. Annual contracts are required to receive discounted prices.
The Herald-Leader does not insert on Mondays.
PACKING AND SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS
Reservation Deadlines – Preprint insertion reservations are to be scheduled by written order from the advertiser stating the date of insertion, size,
quantity and the title/description of the preprint to the Lexington Herald-Leader 30 days in advance of publication date. Verbal or telephone orders will be
accepted but should be confirmed by an insertion order.
Shipment Deadlines – Preprinted inserts must arrive at the Lexington Herald-Leader no later than 10 days prior to the insertion date. Preprints arriving
after deadline may be omitted.
Shipment Specifications – Preprints should be delivered pre-paid on 42” x 48” skids to: Lexington Herald-Leader Packaging Center, 2375 Fortune
Drive, Lexington, KY 40509. Preprint deliveries are accepted Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. (Saturday, Sunday or holiday deliveries are not accepted.) The bill of lading should note delivery hours, total quantity of preprints, date of insertion and advertiser’s name.
Billing – If a greater than ordered amount of inserts is received, inserts will be distributed appropriately and advertiser will be billed for the total quantity
distributed. Failure to ship total order is the liability of the advertiser or printer. No credit will be issued for short delivery after the 10-day window. When
machine inserting cannot be accomplished, it may be possible to hand insert a preprint section at an additional cost of $25 per thousand. Pre-approval
for hand insertion is required.
