BACHELOR OF INTERIOR DESIGN

Professional Accreditation
Small Classes
The Bachelor of Interior Design at RCCIT is recognized by the
Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO)
and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC). With the Bachelor of
Interior Design, you will also be qualified to write the National
Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) professional
licensing examination, to practice as an interior designer across
Canada and the U.S.
In-class and online courses are limited to 20 students per class,
for personal one-on-one instruction to succeed in the program.
Industry Professionals and Networks
Since 1983, the Academy of Design has developed an industry-wide reputation for preparing students to
become successful design professionals with creative, technical, and entrepreneurial skills and invaluable
industry networks. As the design faculty at RCC Institute of Technology, the Academy of Design offers a
leading in-class and online Bachelor of Interior Design.
You will learn from instructors who are experienced, practicing
professionals with active connections to the design industry and
professional networks.
In-class and Online Delivery
The Bachelor of Interior Design is offered both in-class and
online to accommodate your schedule and lifestyle. You can
complete your degree in-class, online, or choose a combination
of in-class and online courses.
Start Dates: October 2014, January, April, July 2015
Work Placement
In your final year, you will work in a professional design
environment, for one full day per week over 25 weeks.
Mentored by practicing design experts, you will have the
opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills.
CAREER OUTCOMES
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Interior Design, you
will have developed the ability to think critically, looking at
design solutions through global human perspectives, work
proactively and manage complex design projects, from an
initial concept through to a successful, detailed resolution.
You will be in high demand for a variety of rewarding career
opportunities including:
• Hospitality Design (hotels, restaurants and retail)

If you are creative with a passion for aesthetics and function,
the Bachelor of Interior Design will give you the foundation and
skills to create beautiful, practical, healthy and safe environments.
You will apply critical, analytical, and technical skills to develop
high level design solutions. You will gain experience in the
latest technical and digital media. You will develop creative
and collaborative problem solving skills, visual literacy, cultural,
ecological and sustainable awareness. And you will grow a real
understanding of the design industry’s business side and how to
market yourself as a professional.
