within the United States. Many of the homes and buildings
of this period remain today and can be viewed on the Historic
Homes Walking/Driving Tour. Brochures available upon request
by calling the CVB at 888-309-6591.

SIKESTON
AREA TOURS
The Sikeston Convention &
Visitors Bureau has designed
eight unique self-guided tours
for visitors to our region. Tour itineraries can be customized to fit
your interests and schedule, and most are downloadable from www.
visitsikeston.com. Contact the CVB at 888-309-6591 for additional
information.
SELF-GUIDED ITINERARIES:
Historic Homes Walking/Driving Tour: During the 1920’s
Sikeston was home to more millionaires than any city of its size in the
US. Many of the homes and buildings constructed during that period
remain today and can be viewed on this tour. Free brochures available
upon request.
Art & Antique Lovers Tour: Enjoy the works of local and visiting
artists along Downtown Sikeston’s gallery walk. You’ll find shops in
and around Sikeston offering antiques and unique collectibles. Online
itinerary.
Southeast Missouri Wine Trail: The rolling hills surrounding
Sikeston host outstanding local vineyards and wineries. Enjoy great
wine and food in a relaxing atmosphere. Online itinerary.
Nature Lovers Trail: Whether it’s hiking, bird watching or photog-
raphy you love, you can enjoy it all at the seven wildlife refuges/conservation areas featured on this itinerary. Locations offer interpretative
centers, trails and boardwalks (through cypress-tupelo swamps). Native
to this area are bald and golden eagles, 17 different birds of prey, snowy
egrets, night herons, trumpeter swans and cranes. Online itinerary.
Southeast Missouri Fishing Trail: Our trail offers anglers 17
unique locations to experience river, lake and stream fishing for bass,
crappie, blue gill, buffalo and carp. Online itinerary.
Veterans Memorial Driving Tour: Visit a Civil War cemetery,
learn the history of Harvey Parks Air Base, visit the Stars & Stripes Museum/Library and view a M-60 battle tank, 1955 Sioux helicopter, and
F4 Phantom Jet on this tour dedicated to our military. Online itinerary.
Agricultural Driving Tours (Seasonal): Sikeston and Missouri’s
Bootheel has some of the most fertile soil in the world, and is home to
numerous farming operations. Due to our climate, the Sikeston area is
the northern most point in the US for the growing of cotton. Rice, soybeans, corn, and wheat are also grown, along with a variety of fruits and
vegetables. (You may wish to call the CVB to determine what is being
harvested at the time of your visit. 888-309-6591.) Driving itineraries
online.
Spring/Summer Itinerary: See the soil prepped and planted
for row crops – corn, soybeans, and cotton. View various irrigation
methods. Crops harvested during this period include melons, fruit,
vegetables, and wheat.
Fall Itinerary: In addition to the beautiful fall foliage, view the
harvesting of cotton, rice, corn and soybeans. Local cotton gins begin
operation in early to mid-October. Other crops include apples, pumpkins, and mums.
