Kid club presents a unique program
for children in the sixth, seventh and
eighth grades. This program is designed
for the participant to work with staff
and learn the job duties related to Kid
club. The objective of this program is

weekday through the year. any child
eighteen (18) and under may eat
for free at this state funded food
program. Snack is served from 3:15
PM until 4:15 PM. you do not have
to be part of any Lathrop Parks &
recreation Program to participate
in the program. The program is open
to the entire community. Snacks are
not served on weekends or holidays.

2009/2010 Youth Scholarship Program
eligiBility reQuirements:
applicant must be a Lathrop resident. Families
receiving Public assistance Grant (aDFc or General
assistance) will automatically qualify for financial
assistance. current income verification from your
case worker must accompany the application.
Families not receiving public assistance must
show proof that the family income is at or below
the current huD guidelines. Proof of yearly
income can be verified in one or a combination
of the following methods: 3 current paycheck
stubs, 3 unemployment check stubs, workers
compensation payment verification, social
security income verification, last year’s Form
1040 tax return, or state disability verification.

maximum award of $500 per family per
fiscal year (July 1-June 30) to be used to
pay 50% of program fees (Kid Club, sports,
and classes with some exceptions) as long
as funds are available.

that do not provide verification of family
income will not be accepted. applicants will
be notified of approval or disapproval within
two weeks of the date the application is
received.
c. applications must be renewed annually.

a free county-wide program,
is one way that the library
is trying to eradicate this
problem. The program
matches english-speaking
adults with volunteer tutors
for confidential, one-onone tutoring. Tutors and
learners commit to meet

This new class will introduce children
ages 6 to 16 to aikido Martial arts. aikido
is a Japanese martial art developed by
Morihei ueshiba as a synthesis of his
martial studies, philosophy, and religious
beliefs. aikido is often translated as “the
Way of harmonious spirit.”
aikido is a fun and exciting yet nonviolent self defense art from Japan. it
utilizes turns. Take-downs and pins in
place of kicking or punching. Training in
aikido is a deeply fulfilling experience

our tennis program is managed by
Lance Turner and Future Stars 2000’s.
Future Stars 2000’s began as a small
tennis program founded by Lance
Turner in just three cities: Stockton,
Lodi and Manteca. In 1995, Future
Stars incorporated as a non-profit
public service 501c3 organization. The
mission of Future Stars 2000’s is to
promote and grow the game of tennis
in Northern california.
in partnership with the uSTa and the
Department of Parks & recreation,
Future Stars 2000’s provides affordable
tennis programs in 19 cities – making
them the largest grassroots tennis
organization in the country! Since the
beginning of 2008, 6 new cities have
been added to the program, including
Sacramento and Lathrop! Future
Stars 2000’s has Junior Wilson Tennis
Racquets for sale - $15 -$20 each.

at Valverde Park. We will have field
games such as sack races, tug o’ war,
parachute games and an egg toss!
after the games there will be a Giant
candy egg hunt. The Spring bunny
will start the egg hunt and stay for
pictures so make sure to bring your

The Senior center is hosting a Spaghetti
Feed Fundraiser on March 26th from
6-8 PM at the Senior center. This dinner
will feature homemade spaghetti, salad,

proceeds will be used to help fund future
senior bus trips. Tickets are available
at the Senior center and all ages are
