Sustainability and costs
ID Chair Concept is both exceptionally easy
to maintain and sustainable. An aboveaverage lifespan is achieved through its
technical, material and aesthetic quality.
With the Green User Agreement, Vitra also
makes it possible for project customers to use
the chairs for up to 15 years - with their subsequent return free of cost. Two service calls
will be made after 5 and after 10 years under
predetermined conditions.

Health and biomechanics
The patented technology behind the ID Chair
caters to healthy, comfortable seating.
The synchronous mechanism "FlowMotion"
supports users according to their personal
weight – but not just when they are leaning
back in their chair: the so-called negative
tilt feature straightens the spine when sitting
forward on the edge of the seat, thereby
taking the strain off of it. The ID Chair
enables a dynamic range of motion and
provides support with individual resistance
when tilting both backwards and forwards.
The Institute of Biomechanics at the ETH in Zurich – one of the world’s leading universities – has used MRI and EMG measurements to prove that using the synchronised forward tilt of the patented “FlowMotion”
mechanism leads to increased muscle activity and sets all segments of the lower spine in motion, which has a particularly positive effect on promoting healthy seating
