First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare
on Exhibit at the Lake County Discovery Musuem February 3–29
Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Twelfth Night. These famous plays and 15 others by Shakespeare
would probably have been lost to us without the First Folio. Published in 1623, the First Folio is
the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays, and only 233 copies are known today.
In February 2016, to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, the Folger Shakespeare
Library is sending a First Folio to every state in the United States, and the Lake County Discovery
Museum in Wauconda was selected for Illinois.
Visit the Museum in February to celebrate the greatest playwright of the English language
with this exhibit from the world’s largest Shakespeare collection. The Lake County Discovery
Museum is located in Lakewood Forest Preserve in southwest Lake County. The entrance and
parking area are located on Route 176 west of Fairfield Road in Wauconda. Follow signs to the
Museum.
Registration for most programs begins Monday, December 14 at 9 a.m.

Friends of the Library Looking for Social Media, Sorting
Volunteers
Are you familiar with Facebook, Twitter and other social
media? Have a couple hours a week you can spare to
help out the Friends? The Friends could use someone
with these skills to help keep their social media presence
current. They also need people monthly to help sort
for upcoming book sales. If interested, please email the Friends at
[email protected] or call 815-385-0036, the main library
number, and ask for Assistant Director Bill Edminster, the Friends
liaison.
