In 1990, Denny Hancock founded Mamma’s Hands, and, in 1995,
the HOUSE of HOPE. Our Mission: To help those in crisis regain their selfrespect, and to help them become productive members of our community.
We now have 3 HOUSES of HOPE in operation, and are helping
more families than ever. With the help of countless volunteers and
financial donors, Mamma’s Hands has grown into a recognized and
powerful force for good in the greater-Seattle area.
The financial challenges are always great, but the pure joy of helping
those deserving Moms recover from crisis, and realize a self-reliant
future, is immeasurable.

evening as our auctioneer, the ironman of
auctions, John Curley. According to his 8
year-old daughter, Charlie, he was “once
famous.” The Emmy-award-winning host
of Evening Magazine is now the most
sought-after auctioneer in the Northwest.
John will do 100 auctions this year and
help to raise 2.1 million dollars a month.
When not on stage, John is doing one of
the following: on Kiro radio, serving on
the Sammamish City Council, training
for an Ironman race, coaching his boy’s
flag football team or working on a project
around the house for his wife.

Dessert Dash
Tonight you and your guests will have the opportunity to bid
for your dessert. We have received many wonderful desserts for you
to choose from, but exactly which dessert will be up to you and your
table guests and how high you all bid!
On your table you will find a sheet where you and your table guests
can each place a bid using your bidder number. Simply write in your
bidder number and your bid amount. All of the bids from your table
will be tallied. The total will be compared with the total from the
other tables in the room.
When the dash begins, the highest bidding table will be called to
come and make their dessert selection first, then the next highest
bidding table will be called to make their selection and so on…
Beware! Tables will be called rapidly. Your competition will
physically dash for their dessert and may steal your favorite choice
from under you. So listen carefully for your table number and
make your selection quickly -your table is counting on you!

PHONE HOME PROGRAM
He is somebody’s father, brother, son . . .
In 1990, a chance encounter with a homeless father and son forever
changed the life of Denny Hancock. Determined to make a meaningful
difference in the lives of those living on the streets, Denny founded
Mamma’s Hands and the Phone Home Program.
The Phone Home Program provides an innovative opportunity for
the homeless to contact their families. Every Wednesday evening,
volunteers go to the Seattle streets to offer the homeless a cell call to
connect with family, and perhaps arrange to return home.
Mamma’s Hands uses local-area youth to staff the truck, manage the
cell phones, and to provide food, blankets, and a listening ear. The
relationship between those who serve and those being served becomes
one of mutual trust and hope. These activities give young people an
understanding of the needs of the community, and a joy that comes
only through helping others.
Our ultimate goal is to get the homeless off the streets and back into
the arms of supportive loved ones – rekindling their hope to live a
more productive life. To date, Mamma’s Hands has reunited hundreds
of homeless men, women, and teens with their families.

For every child, a home. For every mother, hope.
In 1995, with the help of family and friends, Denny & Leslie
Hancock opened the HOUSE of HOPE, to provide a safe and
secure living environment for women and their children in crisis.
Patterned after the nationally-recognized St. Martin de Porres
shelter in Chicago, and operating under “tough love” principles,
our program offers and connects with countless services to
provide counseling, training, and education to our residents.
Most of the women we assist have left everything behind; they are
homeless, running out of options, and losing sight of ever having
a safe and stable life. Many are domestic violence victims fleeing an
abuser. The HOUSE of HOPE helps them at no charge.
Our program enables the women to break away from the cycle of
dependency, regain hope, dignity, and self-esteem, and to move
toward a positive and self-reliant future. Those mothers who commit
to a new and better pattern of life are helped in the transition to
independent living.
In 2004, HOUSE of HOPE-2 was built
to meet the ever-increasing and dire need.
In 2012, HOUSE of HOPE-3 became
operational.
Since 1995, our program has given

Auction Rules
1. Bidders will be given a bid number to use during the auction.
2. A signature or an oral bid constitutes a legal contract to purchase the item.
3. Illegible signatures or bid numbers on Silent Auction sheets will not be honored. Next highest bid will be declared the winner.
4.Minimum bid increments are specified on the Silent Auction bid sheets. If a bid does not meet the minimum increment, it will be disregarded.
5. During the Live Auction, bidders must hold up their bidding number to signify their bids. The auctioneer will determine the highest acceptable bid.
6. Successful bidders for the Live Auction must sign a receipt. At that time they should verify that the bid number, the amount bid, and the item are correct.
7. Successful bidders may make payment at the cashier following the Live Auction. Payment must be made in full and can be paid by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
8.Certificates for redeemable items or merchandise will be given to the successful bidder at the time of payment. Certificate will indicate who to contact for redemption.
9. All sales are final. There are no exchanges or refunds on items except when specified.
10. All auction items must be removed this evening.
11. Values set for some items being auctioned are estimates only and are not warranted by Mamma’s Hands for tax purposes or for general value.
12. Reservations for all trips, parties, dinners and like items must be mutually arranged with the donor unless otherwise specified.
13. Restaurant certificates do not include liquor, tax or gratuities unless
otherwise specified.
14. All gift certificates for goods or services will expire one year from auction date, unless otherwise specified.

but all items are sold “as is.” Mamma’s Hands neither warrants nor represents,
and in no case shall be responsible for the correctness of description, genuineness, authorship or condition of the property. No statement contained in the
