NOTES FOR WEEK OF: November 3, 2014
McCollum Football
Varsity
Our Cowboys came up a little short in our game against Edison this Saturday, dropping the contest 16 – 14.
After a slow start and down by 16 in the first half our Cowboys made a strong comeback in the second half.
Noe Trevino blocked an Edison punt and it was recovered by John Martinez in the endzone for the TD.
Ralph Vidal added a second score that was set up by some nice running by Mike Ramirez. Ralph Vidal
added the 2 pt conversion to close the gap to what proved to be the eventual final score. Our Cowboys go into
the final game of the season ready to play in the 51st Annual Frontier Bowl. It will be a great game so make
plans to make it and cheer the Cowboys on to a victory.

Coach Rivera’s meet summary:
The McCollum boys and girls cross country team competed this past Friday in the District 28-5A meet at
the State Hospital hosted by San Antonio ISD. The McCollum varsity boys came up a little short, placing
4th, as they missed qualifying for regional by 6 individual places to Harlandale (116 to 122 points). Top
runners for the boys was Jonathan Lopez (15th 19:00.09 5K) and Christian Cuevas (16th 19:00.96
5K). The JV boys also placed 4th overall with top runner Elias Romero (10th 20:28 5K). Although the
varsity girls team was short one runner for team points, they had a great finish by Seleste Cantu (18th
23:01 5K). The JV girls also were also short runners for a team total but had an outstanding performance
