& accessories from India through
organization of this important show.
This show should be of immense help
to producers and exporters to explore
new markets and new buyers.
Fashion jewellery and accessories from
India have great potential for exports
to the world market. The best feature
of fashion / imitation jewellery is that
manufacturers can work wonders in
styling and designing. This show would
be another step in increasing exports.
I extend my compliments to EPCH in
its journey and wish the show a grand
success.

IFJAS 2015
brings in Regional Treasures
This edition of IFJAS brings in a regional flavour
with participation from primary producers, i.e.
artisans and crafts persons from six regions of
India - North comprising J&K, Himachal Pradesh,
Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan;
Central covering Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh;
West with Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh
and Chattisgarh; North East with Assam,
Nagaland, Arunchal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura; East with
Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa and Bihar; and South
India with Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka,
Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Pondicherry and Goa.
A group of four artisans represent the beautiful
Kashmir valley with enticing collections in shawls,
bags and textile crafts with the traditional
embroidery kashidakari. From North Eastern
Region there are eleven participants specialising
in crafts like cane & bamboo jewellery, jewellery
and jewellery accessories made from paper, paddy
and egg trays, silver and gold ornaments,
jewellery made from stone, plastic & bone beads,
handloom products like wool cotton, cotton
bags, shawls, Naga jewellery craft forms in
necklaces, earrings, bracelets belts, etc.
A total of sixteen exhibitors define the Eastern
region's display at IFJAS with metal and Victorian
jewellery, clay, dhokra, wood, terracota, paper,
fish scales and jute jewellery, bamboo crafts,
wooden jewellery, fashion bags made from jute
& cotton, scarves & stoles. Besides, there is a
selection in copper and brass jewellery.
The Western region with thirteen exhibitors have
brought in brass jewellery from Madhya Pradesh
that forms pride of place alongside stone
jewellery, meenakari, glass and kundan jewellery,
glass beadsed jewellery, adornments made from
copper, white oxide and German silver, leaher
bags and wallets, embroidery and crochetted
goods from Raipur and some exquisite kalamkari
craft manifestations from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
South India is represented by artians from Tamil
Nadu, Kerala and karnataka. Products showcased
include Toda shawls made by a pastoral tribe in
the Nilgiris. The embroidery, worked on cotton
fabric has typical red and black stripes at a gap
of six inches each. Motifs are worked by counting
the threads. The shawls adorned with toda
embroidery are called Poothkuli and the styple
of embroidery is locally Pugur, which means
flower. Also on display by the Southern region
are terracotta and fashion jewellery.
India prides in being the only treasure house of
its kind with abundant variety in jewellery and
textile crafts that continue to inspire generation
after generations of designers and connoisseurs
of craft. While designs in solid gold jewellery of
Tamil Nadu and Kerala are inspired by nature,
Meenakari and Kundan styles of jewellery making
have been influenced by the Mughal dynasty.
Then there is a huge range of silver beads found
all over India, especially in Rajasthan, Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Their
availability leads to the development of the bead
jewellery, popular till date. While Assamese
jewellery is influenced by local flora and fauna,
Manipuri jewellery-makers make use of items like
shells, animal claws, teeth and precious and
semi-precious stones.
Primary Producers & Exporters Meet
a connect programme to source new products from
unexplored producers
11th July: 1:00pm onwards and 12th July: 11:00am onwards
Hall 8, IInd Floor, Central Function Building, India Expo Centre & Mart
With the rising demand for new and innovative
handicraft products in the global market and
overseas buyers always seeking new product
lines, it has become imperative for Indian
exporters to explore options in order to offer novel
assortments on a continuous basis and maintain
their niche. On the other hand, artisans located
in far flung corners of the country and practicing
their local crafts, now desire to reach out to
platforms where they can perceive more demand
for their products. They are keen to fine tune
their craft skills and see their finished products
reach a more diverse clientele so that their
livelihood improves and their future generations
don't abandon their heritage of craft making. So,
there is a gap here and so is an urgent need to
bridge this gap.
In this direction, EPCH has taken an initiative to
organize a Buyer Seller Meet where primary
producers & exporters would meet and interact
This Connect Programme
would be inaugurated by
Secretary Textiles, Mr. S K
Panda on 11th July, 2015, in
the presence of Mr. Samir K
Biswas, Development
Commissioner (Handicrafts),
who would be the Guest of
Honour.
directly. This is an opportunity for both sides and
is expected to see a gathering of exporters,
artisans, NGOs, SHGs & Cooperative Societies.
The product range expected to be showcased
here comprise handicrafts, gifts, fashion jewellery
and fashion accessories, decoratives, home
textiles, imitation jewellery, bags, footwear,
scarves stoles & shawls, pottery, bell metal
products, mud mirror wall hangings, etc. Among
participants would be primary producers from
clusters in Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Bareilly, Bhuj,
Lucknow and Srinagar as well as NGOs/artisans
from North East, Eastern, Western, Central,
Southern and Northern regions of India. This meet
on 11th July, would be followed by a networking
dinner.
The Connect Programme would take place again
on 12th July, 2015, from 11:00am onwards at
Hall 8, Second Floor, Central Function Building,
India Expo Centre & Mart.

IFJAS 2015
set to present the best of India
on an exclusive platform
Focus on handcrafted
aesthetics
Rajesh Kumar Jain
Vice Chairman,
EPCH
The value of a beautiful handmade
jewellery piece lies not simply in its
aesthetic appeal. In fact, it is the skill of
the accomplished craftsman that shines
through the jewel in the form of myriad
designs, which is most admirable. India
has carved a niche in the international
fashion jewellery industry with its sheer
diversity and an ever evolving nature.
Indian fashion jewellery & accessories
with an enviable variety have their
grounding in rich traditional crafts.
IFJAS has been drawing quality buyers
dealing exclusively in fashion jewellery
and accessories from various importing
nations. Buyers appreciate Indian
designs and share their comfort with the
prices. Many regular buyers have
demanded to see more of silver jewellery,
natural materials, coloured stones, textile
based products, glass, beads,
sustainable crafts and those with a strong
regional/cultural backing. Textile based
accessories; especially bags have gained
popularity even among Asian buyers.
Jewellery manufacturers in India are rapidly
adjusting to the fast changing retail landscape
and learning how to serve today's buyers who
continue to have a desire to find new and exciting
products, and will spend when they feel it is
right.
Be it shimmering silver artfully combined with
semi-precious stones or delicately set lac or
kundanware, be it folk &
tribal reproductions in metal
or just mesh bracelets or
intriguingly shaped stone
embedded rings, be it
beaded jewellery in
cheerful

combinations or semiprecious stones shaped
into drops & danglers
for the ear lobes,
buyers have been
looking for more
Indian
semiprecious
and
imitation jewellery
to fulfill their
s o u r c i n g
requirements.
S h i n i n g
sensations in
metals and
stones; timeless

inspiring
contemporary
innovations….. some of
the collections are totally
handmade, instilling them with a unique energy
that is a synthesis of the designers' talent and
the skills of craftsmen. Unveiling the latest
inspiring collections, contemporary and classic,
IFJAS is a unique environment for jewellery buyers
to come and look for new ideas & inspirations
and build business relationships.
Manufacturers in India have observed that buyers
look for niche elements season after season and
this has led them to also offer personalisable and/
or customisable jewellery.
A story-telling aspect of designs is another area
of focus for Indian exporters. The cultural richness
inspires them to bring out storytelling designs
that represent geography or topography of a
region, the imagery of Hindu mythology that
buyers find ever enchanting, stories about signs
and symbols, etc. Offering designs with a local
& ethnic touch draws buyer interest as the
products in this segment are unique and unusual.
Keeping in tune with contemporary tastes,
manufacturers in India are also coming up with
options in statement jewellery too. And then,
there are producers catering to fast fashion too
as well. Fast fashion is not just influencing
jewellery design, but also pricing: with
consumers buying jewellery more often in order
to be fashionable, the product quality offered
here is versatile as well as affordable.
Trade visitors to India have patronized Indian
fashion jewellery, showing interest in India's
design elements anchored on trends interpreting
various inspirations & tendencies and use of an
assortment of materials. The top importing
nations for fashion jewellery are USA, Germany,
UK, France, Japan, Switzerland, Netherlands,
Canada, Belgium, Hong Kong, Australia, Italy and
Latin American countries and India is already
exporting to these markets. IFJAS is a unique
platform to meet the manufacturers, view the
collections and source the very best in fashion
jewellery and accessories that India has to offer,
right from elegant and subtle adornments, to
eye-popping statement accessories that are truly
individualistic. So, on offer are attractive
propositions in terms of variety, value, price and
service.
The array on display is all encompassing with
beaded jewellery in cheerful colourful
combinations, elegant textile based neckwear,
metal mesh bracelets, intriguely shaped stone
embedded finger rings, threaded bangles, semiprecious stones shaped into drops and danglers,
folk & tribal reproductions, elegant pearl sets and
standalone pieces, carved mother of pearl, rustic
fare in bamboo, jute and wood, and much more.
In the scarves division, there are prints in cotton,
silk and wool depicting tribal craft, flora and
fauna, geometric flowing patterns. The scarves
and stoles are available in various pleasing shades,
like the ones murmuring moods of ocean and
the sky, of the flaming sun, or shades of seasons,
etc. Adding to the selection are scarves with tone
on tone, block print and bloom effect to jibe
with different styles of clothing. Men's wallets,
neck ties, bracelets, cuff links, ear studs and neck

and bindies for women.
A selection in hand stitched and hand
embellished footwear like slippers, Indian mojris
(slip ons), handcrafted leather slingback/
crisscross/ rowel sandals, embroidered slippers,
digitally printed shoes with popular icons on
