METHODIST CIRCUIT INTRODUCTION In 1817, Raunds was p a r t o f t h e Higham F e r r e r s v/esleyan c i r c u i t , w h i c h i n c l u d e d A d d i n g t o n , Dean, Higham F e r r e r s , I r t h l i n g
borough, K i n b o l t o n , Raunds, R i n g s t e a d , Rushden, S t a n w i c k , Swines
head, T h r a p s t o n and Y e l d o n . In 1885, t h e Higham F e r r e r s c i r c u i t d i v i d e d and t h e Raunds 7/eslcyan c i r c u i t was formed, c o n s i s t i n g o f t h e c h a p e l s a t C a t w o r t h , Dean, D e n f o r d , H a r g r a v e , K i m b o l t o n , L e i g h t o n Bromswold, Raunds, R i n g s t e a d , T h r a p s t o n , T i l b r o o k , Old V/eston and Woodford. T i t c h
marsh j o i n e d t h e c i r c u i t i n 1886 and K i m b o l t o n l e f t t h e c i r c u i t i n 1896. The c i r c u i t remained unchanged u n t i l t h e M e t h o d i s t U n i o n of
1 9 3 2 , when t h e P r i m i t i v e M e t h o d i s t c h a p e l a t M a r s h a l l s Road, Raunds
joined the c i r c u i t .
In 1959, T i l b r o o k c h a p e l c l o s e d and t h i s was f o l l o w e d by
D e n f o r d ( 1 9 6 5 ) , M a r s h a l l s Road, Raunds (1966), Hargrave (1968) and
V/oodford ( 1 9 7 0 ) . S e r v i c e s a t l e i g h t o n Bromswold c h a p e l were
t e m p o r a r i l y suspended i n 1972 and t h e c h a p e l e v e n t u a l l y c l o s e d
t h i s year (1977).
The Raunds c i r c u i t i n 1977 c o n s i s t s of C a t w o r t h , Dean, Raunds, R i n g s t e a d , T h r a p s t o n , T i t c h m a r s h and C l d Weston. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. RECORD
