Congratulations!
A Message From Our President...
Dear Colleagues,
“Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it.
Action has magic, grace, and power in it.”
This quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe resonates with me and aligns closely with my conference
theme: Vision+Action=Change. As we move closer to the conference in November, it is important
for each of us to take action and make every effort to attend the conference and experience the
magic of quality professional development. Becoming empowered, through the conference, allows
us to achieve great things as educators and physical activity professionals.
I would be remiss if I did not emphasize how essential NYS AHPERD is in terms of advocacy,
resources and the provision of up to date information that helps us all succeed in our
profession. This year’s conference promises exceptional programs that will help us hone our
skills and stay passionate about our work. The conference program includes two keynote
speakers that will inspire and motivate us along with 160+ quality sessions that will provide
us with cutting edge knowledge and skills.
My year as president of NYS AHPERD has been rewarding on both a professional and a personal
level. I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to work with outstanding professionals
who are committed to our profession. In addition, I am grateful for the professional growth I
have experienced as NYS AHPERD President.
I want to take this opportunity to invite each of you to attend the conference in November. In
addition, if you are not a member of NYS AHPERD, please consider joining. The benefits of membership are numerous
and far outweigh the cost. In the end, it is important that all professionals join NYS AHPERD in order to create positive
change in the profession as well as heighten the status of the profession in the eyes of policy makers and the general
public. I look forward to seeing each of you at the NYS AHPERD Conference (November 18-21, 2015) at the Turning
Stone Convention Center in Verona, New York.
Sincerely,
NYSAHPERD
