Alternate formats are available upon request at 905.683.7575 The City of Pickering, City Development Department compiles information on a monthly basis and updates this booklet quarterly. The Summary of Active Non-Residential Applications lists all non-residential applications that are currently being processed. Once the application receives final planning approvals, it is removed from the "application" section of this booklet and will show up in the "permits issued section" once a Building Permit has been issued for the proposal. City of Pickering City Development Department, Published October 15, 2016 Page 2 Definitions Floor Area Types Commercial Floor Areas are those areas allowing business or professional offices, personal service shops or mercantile and Commercial recreational uses. Examples are restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, exhibition halls, banks, medical offices, dry cleaning establishments, private school, beauty parlours, barber shops,stores, shops, small tool and appliance rental and service establishments, movies theatres and bowling alleys. Industrial Floor Areas are those areas allowing manufacturing and storage/warehousing, wholesale rooms, factories, laboratories, workshops, farm buildings, parking garages, salesrooms, repair garages, processing plants, cold storage, freight depots , electrical substations and power generation plants, self-storage buildings, service stations & wood working shops Institutional Floor Areas are those allowing jails, police stations with detention quarters, hospitals, convalescent homes, childrens' custodial homes, churches and nursing homes. Government Floor Areas are those owned by any government body; including schools, recreation complexes and museums. City of Pickering City Development Department, Published October 15, 2016 Page 3 Application Types A###/## -indicates a rezoning file, the three digit number before the slash is assigned chronologically as the application is received and the two digit number after the slash indicates the year in which the application was received. OPA##-###(PD) - indicates an Offical Plan Amendment, the two digit number before the dash is the year in which the application was received and the three digit number after the dash is assigned chronologically as the application is received. The P indicates it is a Pickering Official Plan Amendment, the D indicates it is a Durham Region Official Plan Amendment, these letters can occur together or separately for any given application. SP####-## - indicates a Plan of Subdivision application. The four digit number before the dash is the year in which the application was received and the two digit number after the dash is assigned chronologically as the application is received. CP####-## - indicates a Plan of Condominium application. The four digit number before the dash is the year in which the application was received and the two digit number after the dash is assigned chronologically as the application is received. S##/## - indicates a site plan application, the two digit number before the slash is assigned chronologically as the application is received and the two digit number after the slash indicates the year in which the application was received. S##/##(R##) - indicates a site plan application revision, the two digit number before the slash and the two digit number after are the application numbers from the original site plan application. The two digit number after the "R" indicates the year in which the revision application was received. S##/##R##-# - indicates a site plan application revision, occassionally we have more than one revision to a site plan in one year, the number following the dash is assigned chronologically and indicates more than one revision to the original site plan in the year following the "R".
