Highlights Rural Touring Scheme
presents Hollows
Hollows is a remarkable new play written
by a rising Cumbrian star, 18 year old Alex
Mullarky. In a remote ruined church in
West Cumbria, 4 teenagers meet up to
drink lager, mess about and talk about the
future. Avery plans to be an artist, Laurie
needs a job, Adam hopes to join the army
and Chris just wants to fit in.
Then 2 things happen which change their
world, something right there in the ruins
and something 3,567 miles away.
The play powerfully and movingly
discusses a very live issue for Cumbrian
Youth. ’Should I stay, or should I go now’.

Funny Way To Be Comedy Club
Top Comedy on the road to Edinburgh, Nick
Doody, Andrew Ryan & Tiernan Douieb
Two top acts will be performing their new
Edinburgh Festival shows in full. The show is
hosted by another top Edinburgh Festival
Veteran. One of the performers
is Nick Doody. Nick is one of
brightest talents on the
comedy circuit. Sharp and
topical – he’s not afraid to say
what he thinks; his brand of
political comedy and satire has won him fans
all over the country in fact all over Twitter as
well, where he’s polled as one of the
influential names in British comedy. The
Metro said, “Excellent hour of stand-up,
handled with intelligence, originality and
some cracking gags to boot.” Andrew Ryan
is one of the North of
England’s most popular MCs.
In 2010 Andrew produced a
dual Edinburgh Festival show
with Joe Lycett which garnered
packed houses and rave
reviews throughout the month, including a
'Must See' award from The Stage. He will be
taking his first solo show to the Edinburgh
festival in 2012. "A top compere who is more
than capable of thinking on his feet, adlibbing well and never relying upon his Irish
charm to see him through" –
Gigglebeats.co.uk. Host for the evening will
be Tiernan Douieb. His 2010 and 2009
Edinburgh shows ‘Littlest Things’ and ’28
Years Later’, received several sell out crowds

Patrick Monahan is a
firm favorite on the
stand-up circuit where
he developed his warm,
friendly, lively story
telling style. He has
appeared on numerous
television shows.
Monahan's humor travels well. He not only
engages the audience with charming
banter about local affairs and universal
issues, but also combines animated story
telling style that draws on his own
experiences of growing up in Teesside, of
Irish and Iranian Parentage! Patrick is a
comedian with truly global appeal. In
August 2011, Patrick won the ITV stand-up
comedy contest “Show Me The Funny”
which resulted in the release of his hugely
popular DVD “Patrick Monahan Live.” After
making his modest debut in a pub in
Gateshead in February 1993 Gavin
Webster has done about three thousand
gigs from Aberdeen to Abu Dhabi,
Manchester to Melbourne and Hartlepool
to Hong Kong. Famed and respected by his
peers for his uncompromising and unusual
approach and distinctly original routines,
he now boasts a large cult following round
the country and particularly on his native
Tyneside where he sells out theatres. Hard
edged routines, quick-fire pastiche pieces,
moronic jokes and sardonic songs, his
unique style has brought him massive
praise and attention. This is your chance to
see top comedy from two of the North
East’s greatest ever comedians at a

Funny Way To Be Comedy Club
Nathan Caton and
support including
Anthony J Brown
and Ray Bradshaw
Nathan Caton has
been active on the
UK comedy circuit
since the tender
age of 19. He
excels in
combining both personal, confessional
material with up-to-date social and
political anecdotes. This has won him
numerous credits and plaudits over the
years and has made him one of the hottest
rising young stars on the circuit. He
started comedy while studying at
University and within his first full year of
gigging he had built up a solid reputation
having performed at the Edinburgh
Festival, finishing as a runner-up in the
Amused Moose Comedy Search and
winning the award for Chortle Student
Comic of the Year. Caton’s first Edinburgh
show in 2009 got him rave reviews from
critics including The Guardian, EdFest and
Three Weeks and earned him guest writing
spots with BBC Radio. A year later he took
his second show to the festival Nathan
now continues to gig around the country
and is also working on his own BBC Radio
4 series based on his successful debut
Edinburgh show. Support will come from
three other comedians including Anthony
J Brown. Anthony is hypnotic and wholly
original, leaving the audience zealously
hanging on to every syllable like turncoat
lemmings on a rockface. Anthony has
supported both Justin Moorhouse and
Alan Carr on their UK tours. MC for the
evening will be Ray Bradshaw. Having
made his comedy debut in September
2008, Ray has quickly established himself
as one of the most exciting new acts on
the comedy circuit. A two time Scottish
Comedian of The Year finalist, Ray has
travelled the lengths and breadths of the
country telling jokes to anyone that will
listen, making his name as an MC for
various promoters.

North Country Theatre
presents ‘The Lighthouse on
shivering sands’
Adapted from the short story by J S
Fletcher. “strange tales were told of
shivering sands, of keepers gone mad,
mermaids and sea monsters,
disappearances and hauntings. None of
that scared Mordechai Chiddock, but had
he known that Jezreel Cornish was one of
the keepers he’d never have set foot on
that cursed rock! And now the supply boat
would not be back for a month and
Chiddock knew that either he or Cornish
would be dead long before then...”
Suspicion, suspense and strangled
laughter by the sea!
