MDaemon Messaging Server | How To Quick Start Guide
WorldClient Instant Messenger
WorldClient Instant Messenger is a Closed Instant Messenger included free
with MDaemon. It can be used inside the WorldClient web-based client or
as a stand-alone desktop client. It provides highly secure Instant Messaging
(IM), logging, file sharing, group chat, address book synchronization, and
an email notification tray applet to provide quick access to MDaemon’s
WorldClient features. This guide covers both versions.
WorldClient Instant Messenger
- Desktop Version
This section covers the stand-alone desktop client version.
Enable WorldClient Instant Messenger in MDaemon
1. Select Setup | Web & IM Services.
2. Select WCIM in the left-hand navigation menu. [Figure 1-1]

3. Make sure Enable WorldClient Instant Messenger and Enable IM
component of WCIM are checked. [Figure 1-1]
Download the WorldClient Instant Messenger Installer File
1. Log into WorldClient to download the WorldClient Instant Messenger
desktop installer file.
Note: In most cases, the WorldClient address will be mail.example.
com or mail.example.com:3000 (where ‘example.com’ is your domain
name). See your MDaemon adminstrator if you are unsure which URL
to use.
2. Click on the Options icon (
) in the upper right-hand corner (when
using the WorldClient theme) or under the Options menu (in the
WorldClient navigation menu when the Lookout theme is used).

3. Select WorldClient Instant Messenger in the drop-down menu.

4. Click on Download the WorldClient Instant Messenger Installer.

Launch the WorldClient Instant Messenger Installer
Double-click on the WorldClient Instant Messenger install file and follow
the on-screen instuctions.

Configuring WorldClient Instant Messenger
1. Open WorldClient Instant Messenger and in the window, select File |
Manage Connections. [Figure 2-1]
2. Highlight the connection you wish to access, then click Edit. [Figure 2-2]

Adding Buddies to Your Buddy List
1. In the WorldClient Instant Messenger window, select File | Manage
Connections. [Figure 2-1]
2. Select Edit. If more than one connection is listed, highlight the
connection you wish to access, then click Edit. [Figure 2-2]
3. Select the Buddy List tab. [Figure 2-3]
4. Check the box next to each user you wish to add to your buddy list,
then click Ok. [Figure 2-3]

Sending an Instant Message
1. Double-click on a user in your buddy list to send an instant message.

2. Under the Action menu, you can customize the text color, check
spelling, send a file, or insert an emoticon. [Figure 2-5]
3. Enter your message, then press Enter or click Send. [Figure 2-6]

This section covers the Chat feature available in WorldClient (web-based
email client for MDaemon).
Enabling Instant Messenger in WorldClient
1. Log into WorldClient to enable the Instant Messaging Feature. [Figure 2-7]
Note: In most cases, the WorldClient address will be mail.example.
com or mail.example.com:3000 (where ‘example.com’ is your domain
name). See your MDaemon adminstrator if you are unsure which URL
to use.

2. Select Options and click on Personalize. [Figure 3-1]
3. Scroll down to the WorldClient Instant Messenger section, then
check the box Enable WorldClient’s Instant Messaging feature in
browser. [Figure 2-6]
4. Click on Save.

Adding Users to Your Buddy List
1. Click on the Instant Messenger Icon on the right-hand side of the
WorldClient window to expand it.
2. Click on the icon that looks like a person in the lower right-hand corner.
Note: If you hover your mouse over it for a moment, the tooltip will say
Manage Buddies. [Figure 3-3]

3. Check the box for each person you want to add to your buddy list, then
click on Save.
Chatting with a Singe Buddy
1. Double-click on a name in your buddy list to chat with that user.
2. Begin typing your message in the space provided, then hit Enter on
your keyboard to send the message. [Figure 3-4]
3. Click on the X at the bottom of the window to close out of the chat
session.

Chatting with a Group
1. Single-click on each name you wish to include in the group chat. The
names will be highlighted.
2. Then click on Group Chat at the top of the list. [Figure 3-5]
