The last couple of years have seen big changes in the sport and these have impacted on the planning the region has to carry out, and we thank

MESSAGE AND REPORT FROM THE HON. SECRETARY
As we approach a new season, it is relevant to reflect on what has been achieved and how best we can move forward whilst making further
progress. I am pleased that London ABA as part of our drive to move the sports profile upwards and wider this year, accrued Television
coverage for our London Elite Championships, London v South of England Women’s Challenge Event and the Haringey Boxcup, all of which were
broadcast live and recorded by London Live TV.
The growth of the sport has been driven by London ABA/ Powerday Development Partnership which has been driven by the generosity of Mick
Crossan (Chairman Powerday), and has ensured the sport’s growth and benefit’s have been directed to clubs through resource, capital funding
and partnerships. Our commitment to partnership working has also been increased with local authority commissioned partnerships being
agreed and developed, and these will need to be built upon in the near future, to ensure our sport is pro-active in terms of continued
Developmental Support by the Region and Powerday as our main partners.
Whilst recognising growth, we are also proud to celebrate success and our praise needs to be recorded to Joe Joyce (Earlsfield ABC) and Nicola
Adams (Haringey Police ABC) and John Johnson (Repton ABC) and their clubs on all winning Gold Medals at the recent European
Championships 2015.
May I close by thanking the other four Divisional Secretaries, Ted Goreham, Richard Williams, Jack Danbury and Clare Khan and also the London

SUMMARY
Funding and Grants Attracted through London ABA/Powerday Development Programmes of Activity over the last two years
2013 - 15 report are as follows:
In summary the impressive investment, activity and relationships which have been developed and delivered are achieving an actual ‘New
Money and Value in Kind Investment’ as follows:
• Funding into capital and revenue projects attracted through Powerday and London Amateur
Boxing Association Interventions and development support: £1.75 million
• Savings and re-negotiated preferential terms of tenure and costs ensuring clubs and projects
sustainability: £4 million
• Total Two year (2013/2015) External Investment: £5.75 million
This immense investment figure of £5.75 million has been sourced through the London ABA/ Powerday development programme has
been directly paid either to clubs or through financial commitments by London Boroughs and partners by way of subsidised agreements
for clubs. This £5.75 million of investment has nearly trebled the £2 million total targeted and identified within the London Whole Sport
Plan 2013/17 and indeed exceeded that target by a further £3.75 million in the last 2 years of activity and development.
This positive pro-active activity and development has been based upon a strong strategy and commitment to community sport, places
London ABA is in a very strong position to deliver impact in local communities even further whilst growing and sustaining participation
and delivering excellence at all levels for participants, clubs, coaches and volunteers, thereby under-pinning the Sport England, England
Boxing and Government targets for community sport participation.
