Dear partners & fellow partners,
we would like to thank you for your ongoing present support and allow us to inform you ,as an important partner
of interest association of legal entities “Dolní oblast VÍTKOVICE” (hereinafter referred to as “association”), about our
current activities. We also would like to kindly ask you to continue with your financial participation in the demanding
projects of the resurgence of important urban industrial monument and the entity which is significantly involved in the
popularisation of the technical education.
Above mentioned would underline your support and help so far.
In May 2015 we managed to open educational and cultural creative centre of Provoz Hlubina – unique site of the former
black coal mine which tempts not only musicians and bands but also sculptors, music concert lovers and other cultural
activities. No less important was the completion of a new extension on the blast furnace no. 1 which was named as Bolt
TOWER in May 2015 after official ceremony when Usain Bolt, a Jamaican sprinter, named it in person. Worth mentioning
is also the building of additional infrastructure, which will help the general public to access easily and safely the national
cultural monuments and cultural monuments.
We are very pleased that the phase of realisation successfully moves into phase of implementation and we can meet the
goals staked-out for specific premises. Thus we are witnesses of effective administration and project management of
the most important historical and technical monuments in the region (currently – the area of blast furnaces of Vítkovice,
mine Hlubina, natural and technical monument Landek).

Upcoming and already carried out projects significantly overlap the city of Ostrava, The Moravian-Silesian region and The
Czech Republic. And so our projects with your support bring the region a unique opportunity to combine history with the
present and the future. We can predict even now that in 2015 the attendance of visitors will be close to 1 million and thus
we will confirm still growing trend of public interest in our region.
The implemtation of association´s projects and also management of premises are financially demanding, nevertheless
highly effective in preserving one the main historical pillars of the city and the region for the next generations. It is
necessary to obtain an adequate funding for the projects themselves, their preparation, reconstructions and running of
buildings declared as the national cultural monuments or cultural monuments, maintenance for roads, area, greenery,
lighting, cycling, etc.
Just some examples of current forms of our partners´ cooperation benefits for 2016 in this presentation:
-
exclusive ceremony partner meeting and a unique concert of the band MONKEY BUSINESS in 2016 (previous
years - La Putyka, Jaromír Nohavica, Kryštof, Clash of the Giants – Sklep Theatre and Comedygraph Theatre),
-
free entrance tickets – VIP for interactive exposition in the building U6, The Big World of Technology STC and
newly also to Bolt Tower),
-
favourable conditions for usage of all sites e.g. in object U6, Gong lounges, The World of Technology and other
sites of DOV including sports areas in Landek (clients events, events for employees, etc.),

EVALUATION AND FACTS
The number of visitors has to our delight increasing tendency. In August 2015 we reached over 860 000
of visitors, therefore it can be assumed that attendance of visitors will reach 1 million till the end of 2015.

The purpose of association according to charters:
-
to contribute to preservation, development and propagation of culture, science and research in the
operating areas,
-
to fund, prepare and implement projects of change of Dolní oblast VÍTKOVICE which should become
the centre of cultural life in Ostrava, including running of exhibition hall, gallery, Science Learning
Centre, concert hall, sites for hosting cultural events, etc.,
-
to prepare tours of the National Cultural Monument of Vítkovice (NKP) and to secure its
implementation including necessary infrastructure,
-
to run accessible parts of NKP Vítkovice and provide necessary maintenance of NKP,
-
to run area of Mine Museum,
-
to hold and create technical conditions suitable for cultural, educative and educational activities,
mainly permanent expositions, temporary exhibitions, concerts, lectures, seminars etc.,
-
to create and carry out educational programs and events for schools and general public in the field of
various natural and social sciences with the purpose to open accessibility of the thematically aimed
expositions.

NEWS OF THE AREA OF DOLNÍ VÍTKOVICE
Provoz Hlubina
Unique premises of the former black-coal mine that were re-open to public in May 2015 represent
extraordinary cultural quarter which tempt not only musicians and bands, but also sculptors,
graphic designers, visual artists, music concerts lovers, and other cultural events.
MUSIC STUDIOS
Building of Průběžná Jídelna (interim dining building) holds currently background for recording studio and music rehearsal rooms for musicians, bands and music groups.
CINEPORT
In the past workrooms for workers who provided technical operations of the mines, these days the port for film, video
and audiovisual production including videomapping.
On the ground floor a film library or seminars on the history of film may take place in the two equipped screening
rooms.
ART STUDIOS
Former substation, which included energetic centre of the shaft, is now used as a quality background mainly for painters, sculptors, graphic designers, photographers or visual artists.
BRICK HOUSE
The building of Old Bathrooms formerly used as a place where the miners came in for shifts to get dressed into mining
clothes. Currently, the main function of these spaces is a contact with the public through various cultural events such
as music concerts, theatre, dance or audiovisual performances.
COMPRESS HALL
A unique historic site of the former mining pit with the compressors that are protected monuments offer exclusive
space and background for art café with dramaturgy devoted to awareness and recognition. Workshops, travelogues,
field trips, trainings, culinary courses – all with (and not only) coffee theme.
AMBER BRIDGE
Unique bridge designed by an architect Mr. Pleskot creates natural and new connection between area of the Blast
Furnaces and black-coal mine Hlubina.

HELIGONKA
Jarek Nohavica´s own music club – Heligonka was founded in the historic site of the former new
bathrooms by mine Hlubina. It is intimate, cosy and friendly place for music, theatre, dance and cabaret
suitable for visitors of various generations and social status.
This multi-genre place with a stage, bar and café can be used for up to 150 people.

BOLT TOWER
Not only BOLT CAFÉ/Small guided tour but also observation deck are the parts of new BOLT TOWER which was
solemnly opened on 1st May, 2015. The visitors may relax in the Café over delicious snacks with the spectacular
view. Club rooms can be used mainly for hosting the discussion forums, lectures and popularisation of technical and
natural sciences. The observing deck, in the height of 71 meters, enables the visitors to enjoy the unforgettable view
of Ostrava and near surroundings including the Beskydy Mountains. You can visit the observation deck within the
blast furnace guided tour. An interesting feature of this extension is that it was named personally by Usain Bolt on
24th May, 2015.
