On April 1, 1977 the Griffins sold this business to
George and Barbara Suggs. The Suggs, with their
children Georgann, Chic and Doug, ran the business with
the same recipes handed down to them from previous
owner/operators. The Suggs enlarged the building in 1994
to increase seating capacity from 21 to 49 people.
In September 2005, Barbara and George turned over
operations and control of the business to Chic and Robin
Suggs who, with their capable staff, now run the business
called “Lee’s Sandwich Shop” Kannapolis, NC.

Lee’s Sandwich Shop had it’s beginnings in 1949 as
“Joe’s Sandwich Shop”, owned and operated by Joe
Dwiggins. Joe sold out to Lee Griffin in 1959. Lee ran the
business in it’s original location on Lane Street (where CVS
Pharmacy is currently located) until 1964 when he moved to
it’s current location at 902 Central Dr. Lee kept the same
recipes and methods of operation as Joe with the help of his
wife, Evanell, and their daughters, Vicky and Sonya.
