Habitat Forever, LLC, part
of Pheasants Forever, a
national wildlife habitat
organization, is seeking
two individuals to be part
of its East Central Iowa
grassland prescribed burn
crew for spring 2016
and beyond.
These are part-time, seasonal
positions for the prescribed
burn season - generally from
March 15 to May 15,
subject to weather,
with a limited amount of work
from September through
November. Crew can usually
expect to accrue
100 - 200 hours during
the spring season.
Applicants with prior training and grassland prescribed burn
experience and S130 / S190 training will be top candidates.
Candidates must be in good physical condition, possess an
aptitude for fire work, be able to tolerate smoke, take and follow direction very well yet be able to think clearly and perform under pressure, be generally available 5-7 days a week
throughout the spring fire season, and be able to drive themselves to the crew’s home base for daily deployment. Possession of a Class A
CDL, participation in a drug & alcohol testing program and having basic knowledge
of ATV’s and small engines could all be plus’s. Crew home base is Norway and the
majority of prescribed fires will be within an 80 mile radius.

Callie is such a sweet young lady, and look at
her unique markings! We have learned that she is a
Torbi Calico....which is a mix of Tortoise and Tabby
Calico. Callie is an incredible lover, so if you are
looking for a lap kitty she may very well be a perfect match for all your lap needs!
She has some fellow residents who are well qualified to give kitty love as well. Casper, the big orange and white friendly fellow will be able to keep
a pretty warm lap too. He has no trouble getting
along with the other kitties he has been introduced
to either and is ready to move into a new ‘forever
home’.
Just like the rest of our kitties, these two are spayed
or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, current
on flea protection, microchipped and tested to be
free of certain diseases.
We just got a couple of new dogs in this week
and will be updating the website as soon as they
have been to the vet and are ready for adoption.
I can’t wait to show you a picture of one youngster
that looks like he has the body of a basset, the fur
color of a brindle boxer, the fur texture of a Cairn
terrier, and the energy of a typical 6 month old pup.

Come join us for a chance to learn the history and techniques used in
creating a traditional Amana Quilt. All ages and skill levels welcome. Each person will create a beautiful
hand quilted wall hanging. Participants will need to supply 2 yards of fabric (1 yard solid and 1 yard
print) of their choosing. All other materials will be supplied. Monday evenings for 5-6 weeks beginning
Feb. 22 from 6:30-8 PM at the Amana Arts Guild Center in High Amana. Enrollment is limited. For more

Studio Painting: A painting class for beginners to experienced painters
in any medium: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel or colored pencils. The instructor will
take you from whatever level you’re at and help you develop your ideas and skills
