On the basis of the assessment study conducted in the first quarter of FY 2015-16, a
consumer outreach activity was initiated in an environment conducive to promulgate
the importance of Life Insurance as a financial tool against financial risks arising due
to unfortunate events in life.

PUDUCHERRY
PUDUCHERRY CAMPAIGN
An assessment study was conducted in Puducherry to study the socio–cultural,
demographic & economic environment of the city. On the basis of which, an outreach
activity was initiated to create an environment conducive to promulgate the importance
of Life Insurance as a financial tool against financial risks arising due to unfortunate
events in life.
Street Play
Insurance Awareness Street Plays were organized to connect with a broad spectrum of
socioeconomic population classes. Considering the closely knit culturally savvy
regions, it was decided to implement activities which would relate to the cultural
aspect of the society. Hence Street play was chosen as the medium to create Life

Street plays being theatrically performed outdoors and in public spaces – car parks,
market areas, parks, etc. reaches out to a large audience. Street play is a powerful
propaganda media which can engage audience and facilitate in communicating
complex financial concepts of Life Insurance.

Approach
The script for the street play was specially written for the activity. The script was on
the philosophy of enjoying small pleasures of life once, a person is insured and
peaceful.
The script for the street play had two primary characters, ‘HAPPY’ & ‘RISK’. The
characters represented the two basic ‘states of mind’ a person, which symbolizes his
experience after and before buying Life Insurance.
The script further explored the relationship between the two factors. The character
‘RISK’ is shown to stay in people’s hearts by creating uncertainty at any time of their
life, which makes a person, sad, afraid, restless and unhappy. Whereas the ‘HAPPY’
character comes and a show, if one is insured, life becomes easier to live, and one ends
up living happy. Each scenario was depicted by a two minute act, post which ‘RISK’
and HAPPY’ presented their commentaries.
The complete script is attached at Annexure A.
