Mission Statement EEF Funded Programs The Mission of the Environmental Education Foundation is to award educational scholarships and grants to area students and schools for environmental-centered studies and to promote environmental awareness to all ages of the Geneva Lake area. • Charlotte Peterson Outdoor Education grants to Geneva Lake area elementary school students beginning at the 5th grade level • Dark Sky environmental scholarships awarded to Geneva Lake area high school students • Natural Resource Career Workshop scholarships awarded to Geneva Lake area high school junior and senior students • Each year, three Geneva Lake area high school graduates are eligible to receive a $2,500 college scholarship • George Williams College undergraduate students who attend Geneva Lake area high schools receive scholarships for environmental science studies • Selected college undergraduate and graduate students receive scholarships for environmental science studies Our Story The Environmental Education Foundation was founded in 1980 as an affiliate of the Geneva Lake Association (GLA). During its 35 year history, the Foundation has awarded more than $475,000 in college scholarships, camping and outdoor education awards to over 425 lake area youth, from 5th grade through graduate school. Over the years, the Foundation assets and income have grown from consistent support of area residents, allowing the EEF to annually award more than $30,000 to deserving students in the Geneva Lake area. The EEF has a unique and distinct focus that promotes and financially supports environmental education experiences for Geneva Lake area youth. The Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit, tax exempt 501 (c) (3) organization, governed by a Board of Directors and By-laws.
