Networking Functions, Amenities
Welcome to StormCon 2015!
On behalf of Forester Media and the team that
puts this whole thing together, welcome to our
2015 event and the great city of Austin, Texas!
It’s so rewarding to be a part of an industry that
does so much for our environment every single
day, and StormCon is truly THE Stormwater
industry event. The first StormCon took place back
in the summer of 2002, making this week our 14th
annual event. We’ve put together a full schedule of
industry-leading technical sessions that will educate
and inspire you, as well as an Expo Hall packed with the latest Stormwater
technology, products, and services. No matter where you work, and whatever your
level of expertise, StormCon ’15 provides you with an opportunity to grow and
the tools needed to develop your career in the surface water-quality profession.
The industry has changed significantly over the past 14 years, and this
show will help you prepare for the changes heading our way. Throughout
your time here, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to visit with old and new
friends, share ideas, and participate in a wide variety of educational sessions.
You’ll hear from the best Stormwater professionals presenting technical
topics for your continued education. We encourage you to network with
your peers and ask questions relevant to your own projects. Make sure you
also take plenty of time to tour the Expo Hall where you’ll see the industry’s
best companies showing their new technology, services, and products.
Thank you for participating in StormCon ’15, and enjoy all that Austin has to
offer. Here’s to a very productive few days together and making connections that
will last a lifetime!

IF
YOU
THINK
WEIRS AND ORIFICES ARE THE ONLY
STORMWATER FLOW CONTROL SOLUTIONS
Float
YOU DON’T
KNOW DUCK.
Constant
Operating
Head
INTRODUCING A REVOLUTIONARY CONCEPT IN OUTLET DESIGN.
Unlike traditional weirs and orifices, Thirsty Duck floating outlets and skimmers allow you to achieve
and maintain constant flow. When sized to produce the allowable peak discharge rate, you can save
as much as 50% of the total volume required for stormwater detention systems. But how? Constant
head. Underneath the self-skimming body is a horizontal orifice, suspended from a float at a fixed
distance below the water surface. It discharges into an expanding pipe called a bellows, which
allows the Thirsty Duck to move up and down with the water surface.
IT’S PERMITTABLE.
IT’S PROVEN.
IT’S UNIVERSAL.
We’ve been approved by
state DOTs and environmental
regulatory agencies. Since
buoyancy does all the work and there are
no mechanically engaged parts, Thirsty
Duck is both passive and non-mechanical.
Lab-tested for accurate
flow rate, extreme debris
tolerance and hydrostatic
pressure resistance, Thirsty Duck has
been installed in the harshest environments
across the country since 2004.
Thirsty Duck can be
used with any detention
system — wet ponds, dry
ponds, precast and cast in-place vaults,
pipe storage systems, and underground
chamber and infiltration systems.
