High Intensity Discharge Lamps
Lámpara de Alta Intensiad de Descarga
High Intensity Discharge lamps are the most
efficient light sources, providing an extremely
large amount of light from a very small space,
and because of the compact dimensions of
these lamps, their light can be easily and
accurately directed. High Intensity Discharge
lamps offer many more advantages like
excellent color rendering and long life.

son las fuente de iluminación más eficiente,
ya que desde una pieza pequeña pueden
emitir mucha luz, y por las dimensiones

High Intensity Discharge lamps are the light
sources of choice where brilliant light and
true colors are needed to present a product
or objects, like a shop window or retail store,
and where long life and energy efficiency are
critical, like stadiums, factories and street
lighting.

High intensity discharge lamps operate on
the basis of the arc discharge. There is a
constant arc between two electrodes that
causes the filling to give light. This principle
can be used with different metals and filler
materials. Americanlite range includes metal
halide lamps, sodium lamps and mercury
vapor lamps.

el tubo de arco. Existe un arco constante
entre dos electrodos que hace que el relleno

special chemical
compounds known as
“halides” that produce
light in most regions of
the spectrum. They offer
high efficacy, excellent
color rendition, long
service life and good
lumen maintenance.
Because of their numerous
advantages, metal
halide lamps are used
extensively in outdoor
applications and in
commercial interiors.

Son las fuentes de luz blanca
mas eficientes actualmente.
Estas lámparas presentan un
componente químico conocido
como Aditivo Metálico que
produce luz en casi todas las
regiones del espectro. Ofrecen
gran eficiencia, excelente
representación de color, larga
vida y buena luminosidad. Por
sus numerosas ventajas, las

High Pressure Sodium
Are used mainly for their energy efficiency.
High-pressure sodium lamps render colors
poorly, which tends to limit their use to outdoor
and industrial applications where high efficacy
and long life are priorities. High pressure sodium
produce a yellow/orange light with extremely
high LPW performance and exceptionally long
service life (up to 40,000 hours).

Son usadas principalmente por su alta
eficiencia. Las lámparas de alta presión ofrecen
baja representación de color, lo que limita su
uso en exteriores y usos industriales, donde ser
requiere alta eficiencia y larga vida. Producen

lumen por watt y una via excepcionalmente
larga (hasta 40,000 horas).
Mercury Vapor
Are the oldest HID technology, often used as light sources because of the low
investment costs. They need a control gear
but not an igniter. Because of their low
efficiency, mercury vapor lamps consume
much more electrical energy than other HID
lamps. The mercury arc produces a bluish
light that renders colors poorly. Therefore,
most mercury vapor lamps have a phosphor
coating that alters the color temperature and
improves color rendering to some extent.

principalmente por su bajo costo. Ocupan de
mecanismo de control pero no de ignitor. Por
su baja eficiencia, estas lámparas consumen
más energía que otras lámparas de descarga

mercurio emiten una luz azul que con pobre
representación de colores. Es por eso, la
mayoría de estas lámparas cuenta con una cubierta de fósforo que altera el color de
temperatura y mejora la representación del color, Son usadas principalmente para
iluminación pública y en fábricas.

Metal halide lamps are available in
numerous sizes and configurations
for commercial and residential
applications. Like most HID lamps,
Metal halide lamps operate under
high pressure and temperature, and
require special fixtures to operate
safely.

de Descarga de Aditivo Metálico
por su tamaño proveen una luz
blanca brillante, haciendolas una
fuente de luz compacta, poderoza
y eficiente. Las lámparas de aditivo
metálico están disponibles en
diversos tamaños y configuraciones
para aplicaciones comerciales y
residenciales. Como el resto de
las lámpara HID, operan bajo
gran presión y alta temperatura,
y requieren de una luminaira y
balastro especial para su operación.

WARNING: These lamps can cause serious skin
burn and eye inflammation from short wave
ultraviolet radiation if outer envelope of the lamp
is broken or punctured. Do not use where people
will remain for more than a few minutes unless
adequate shielding or other safety precautions
are used.
ADVERTENCIA: Estas lámparas pueden causar
serias quemaduras en la piel e inflamación en
los ojos, provocados por la radiación de la banda
corta ultravioleta, en el caso de ocurrir una
ruptura o perforación en la envoltura externa
de la lámpara. No la utilice en locales donde
las personas permanecerán más que algunos
minutos, a menos que estén debidamente
protegidas o se implanten algunas precauciones
de seguridad.
If the outer bulb is broken or punctured, turn off at
once and replace the lamp to avoid possible injury
from hazardous short wave ultraviolet radiation. Do
not scratch the outer bulb or subject it to pressure
as this could cause the outer bulb to crack or
shatter. A partial vacuum in the outer bulb may
cause glass to fly if the envelope is struck.
Si la envoltura externa sufre una ruptura o
perforación, apague de inmediato y remplace la
lámpara para evitar cualquier daño por radiación
de la banda corta ultravioleta. No raspe o presione
la envoltura exterior porque pudiera provocar que
se quiebre. Una aspiración parcial de la envolutra
exterior puede causer que piezas de vidrio salgan
volando.
WARNING: The arc-tube of high intensity
discharge lamps are designed to operate under
high pressure and at temperature up to 1000
degrees Celsius and can unexpectedly rupture due
to internal or external factors such as ballast failure
or misapplication. If the arc-tube ruptures for any
reason, the outer bulb may break and pieces of
extremely hot glass might be discharged into the
surrounding environment, if such a rupture were to
happen, THERE IS A RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY,
PROPERTY OF DAMAGE, BURNS AND FIRE.

presión y temperatura que alcanza los 1000 grados
centrigrados y puede quebrarse inesperadamente

lamps comply with Americanlite ’s published specifications and are
free from defects in materials and workmanship.

All our HID lamps are manufactured with approved components. Americanlite® reserves the right
to change or improve the design or components of any of its products due to parts availability or
changes in standards, without assuming any obligation to modify any product previously manufactured and without notice. All HID lamps are tested and inspected before shipment.
This warranty is void if the product is operated outside of its normal operating conditions. The
foregoing warranty does not apply to failures caused by acts of God or as a result of any abuse,
misuse, abnormal use, or use in violation of any applicable standard, code or instructions for use
in installations, including, but not limited to, those contained in the Standards for the International
Electrotechnical Commission. Americanlite® reserves and has the right to examine failed fixtures
to determine the cause of failure, excessive lumen depreciation and patterns of usage.
