We are hoping the past year has gone well for everyone. A tip of the hat to the farmer
and rancher positive attitude, the year started off a little scary, but somehow many
of the grain and forage crops pulled off a good year. And if crops are good, raising
profitable cattle is a little easier.
We invite you to check out our catalogue; it is our opportunity to show you around
the pen while you relax in your own home! Many times over the years footnotes on
bull pens can be a little repetitious. This year’s were even more challenging; the bulls
are VERY consistent, but we tried to expose something different about each. If you
are looking for a large selection of red factors, this year is your chance, over 60% of
the pen is colored, mostly because our herd bulls were red factor. We changed up the
bulls for the 2016 calf crop and already they are over 60% white.
We always like to touch base with our customers about our bull ration/feeding program. The bulls were not on creep feed during
the summer. Since weaning they have been fed a ration consisting of ground hay, the hailed grain silage from last year and grain.
We roll our own grain which consists of about 70% oats and 30% barley. The grain is now fed at about 30% of the ration and will
remain at that level. And of course the appropriate amounts of supplement to make it complete.

Congratulations to the Rasmussen family as they host the 11th HEJ Charolais Bull Sale. Through the years
including BSE years, Henrik, Jeralyn and the kids have stuck to their guns and continued to build one
of the leading cow herds in the nation...no frills and fanfare...just good honest Charolais breeding stock
designed to add value to commercial breeding programs. In 2016, HEJ offers the greatest group of bulls
they have ever produced.
The cow herd has been built using the old school method...propagating and expanding the productive cow
families, in an effort to put the highest degree of predictability in the bulls offered each spring. The HEJ
program works; as proven by the number of repeat customers who attend each year and select sires. In
addition to the old school method, Rasmussens use numbers and carcass data as a tool for their program
and that of their customer base.
HEJ Charolais is one of the few programs offering red, white, tan and black or a combination of, to fill their customer needs. The
cow herd is conventional, tanky in type; with tons of milk...you don’t want to be shy on milk when Henrik is around. HEJ Charolais
is conveniently located a mere two miles off Highway 2, just southeast of Innisfail...it’s worth the visit, as you can see both the herd
bulls and mothers of these bulls...one thing is for certain, Marina, Henrik or Jeralyn will be happy to give you a tour and an honest
analysis of each individual bull and what will work for your breeding needs.

Association. All bulls are guaranteed to have passed
a semen test before delivery.
Board:
We will be happy to provide free board until March
30, 2015. After April 1, we will keep them at $3.00 per
day. Bulls picked up sale day will be rebated $100.00.
All bulls going back to the consignor’s yard must
be insured.
Right to Semen:
HEJ Charolais retains the option to collect
semen on any bull sold in the sale at a future date for
their in-herd use only. This would be at the seller’s
expense and the owner’s convenience.

Look at that birthweight! And it doesn’t stop there. This guy may have started out small but he has grown up into a stylish meaty bull. He is thick and smooth and other

This bull crop is a very consistent set and does not differ much in type and style. Cordoba is a long bull and is built strong like most Round Up progeny.
He is thick, hairy and has a good disposition. His mother goes back to HEJ 2R (a top producing cow in the herd) and out of a Sanchez son. Again, a bull
with some great blood running through him.

A very stylish square hipped bull. He
carries his muscle evenly and deep into
the flank and quarter. His maternal
grandsire was a big framed bull with
lots of length and power. His calves
were also long and thick and grew like
weeds. They came out a little heavier
but the weight was in the extra length.
