About Waterproof / Dustproof performance of the camera "DMC-FT2" This camera’s waterproof/dustproof rating complies with the “IPX8” and “IP6X” ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described as following are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 10m (33FT) for a time not exceeding 60minutes. This does not guarantee no destruction, no malfunction, or waterproofing in all conditions. - Attention - To prevent water leak, take care not to nip any foreign objects, and close it by pressing until it clicks. •Use the camera underwater up to 10m (33FT) depth, water temperature from 0°C to 40°C, and not longer than 60 minutes continuously. •Do not leave the camera under low temperature in the cold climate, or where it has high temperature above 40°C for long period of time. (Waterproof performance will degrade.) •Do not use chemicals, such as benzene, thinner, or alcohol, soap, detergents. •If it was used in the sea, soak the camera in fresh water a shallow container of for 10 minutes or less. Do not leave the camera uncared for more than 60 minutes after using it underwater. It may cause deterioration of the waterproof performance. •To keep the waterproof performance, it is recommended to replace the waterproof seal (with fee) at least once every 1 year at the retail store where you have bought the camera. •When the zoom lever or mode dial becomes difficult to operate, dip the camera in a fresh water and remove the foreign objects. About Shockproof performance of the camera "DMC-FT2" This camera complies with “MIL-STD 810F Method516.5-Shock”, the camera has cleared a drop test from a height of 2.0m. This does not guarantee no destruction, no malfunction, or waterproofing in all conditions. Testing Method – •Drop height: 2.0m / Drop surface: thick plywood (lauan) •Drop orientation: On each face, edge and corner, for a total of 26 orientations. (5units) •Number of drops: Once for each orientation. •Camera was inspected after each drop, and found to be operating within product specifications. • Change of appearance - paint-loss or deformation not measured. About Freezeproof performance of the camera "DMC-FT2" •The performance of the battery (number of recordable pictures/operating time) may decrease temporarily when using in a temperature between -10°C to 0°C (14°F to 32°F)(at the cold climate such as ski resort). •If the camera gets cold in a cold environment, performance of the LCD monitor may temporarily drop immediately after turning the power on, such as the picture on the LCD monitor being slightly darker than usual or ghost images appearing. Keep the camera warm when using in a cold environment. The performance will resume to normal when the internal temperature rises. •When using the camera in a cold place such as a ski resort, if the camera is left with snow or water drops still on it, the snow or water drops in-between the zoom lever, the mode dial, or the camera (OFF/ON) button may freeze, making it difficult for some parts of the camera to function properly. This is not a malfunction. When the camera returns to normal temperature it will function normal. •It is recommended to use the camera while keeping it warm in the coat etc. •PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0/5.0HD/5.1HD: Requires Microsoft® Windows® XP, Windows Vista® or Windows® 7. •PHOTOfunSTUDIO 2.1SE/4.0/4.0HD: Requires Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP or Vista®. •SILKYPIX® Developer Studio: Requires Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP or Vista® (Only a systems administrator with authority can install software on a Windows® XP or 2000), or Apple® Mac OS® X v10.2 or later (Version 10.3 or later is recommended). •ArcSoft® MediaImpression™, Panorama Maker™: Require Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP/Vista®, or Apple® Mac OS® v10.3 or newer (Version 10.4 or later is recommended). •The Windows 7 is certified with the camera unit and the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO Ver.5.0 or later. •Weight and dimensions shown are approximate. •Design, functions, and specifications are subject to change without notice. •Some sample images are simulated. • Some accessories are not available in some countries. •The use of recorded or printed materials that are protected by copyright for any purpose other than personal enjoyment is prohibited, as it would infringe upon the rights of the copyright holder. •AVCHD Lite motion images recorded onto an SD Memory Card or a DVD disc cannot be played from a device that does not support the AVCHD standard. •AVCHD Lite and AVCHD Lite logos are trademarks of Panasonic Corporation and Sony Corporation. PAGE. 01-48 2010.1.28 Non Associates About the performance of Face Recognition function Recognition performance varies greatly depending on shooting conditions, i.e., according to factors such as angles, facial expression and lighting, so operation under all conditions cannot be guaranteed. Because the camera searches for faces that are similar to registered faces, there are cases where the faces are not correctly recognized when the registered image and the shooting image varies much. When facial characteristics are similar, particularly between parents and their children or brothers and sisters, the camera may not distinguish the faces. Asia Version. LUMIX's new Intelligent Resolution Technology automatically identifies parts with outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas, and optimizes the edge emphasis on the outlines and detailed texture areas while using the Venus Engine noise reduction process to make the soft gradation areas smoother. This lets the iA mode do much more than just take great shots automatically. It adds delicate detail that exceeds even optical image quality in both photo and movie recording. Outlines Clear ly emphasizes the outlines between subject and background. Detailed Texture Areas Heightens the intricacy of detailed parts. And you can record for a longer time without running out of memory because AVCHD Lite stores less data than Motion JPEG while achieving higher image quality. You can also use the iA mode to shoot motion images, and let the camera do all the work for you. This user-friendly mode automatically selects the most suitable Scene mode and helps correct blurring, focus and brightness problems. All you do is aim and shoot. iA is the easy way to capture beautiful HD movies. The expressiveness of a wide-angle lens lies in its ability to capture spatial expanse and depth. When you want to shoot a sweeping landscape or fit all your friends in a photo when there isn't much room, there's nothing like a wide-angle lens. For example, the photo area of the 25mm wide-angle lens in the TZ, ZR and FX Series is about 196% that of an ordinary 35mm lens. The world's first 0.3-mm super-thin aspherical lens on the ZR series fits a 25mm wide-angle lens and 8x optical zoom into a conveniently slim body. 35mm* 25mm* •AVCHD Lite and AVCHD Lite logos are trademarks of Panasonic Corporation and Sony Corporation. • Dolby and the double-D symbol are trademarks of Dolby Laboratories. Large aperture F2.0, 24mm wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens AVCHD Lite – Beautiful HD movies, extended shooting time The FZ35 records HD movies with 1280 x 720-pixel resolution. It uses the AVCHD Lite (MPEG-4/H.264) to achieve higher image quality while storing less data than the conventional Motion JPEG. Plus, the FZ35 is equipped with a Creative Movie mode which lets you adjust the aperture and shutter speed any way you like. You can also use iA mode to shoot movies, and let the camera do all the work for you. Featuring 8 lens elements in 6 groups including 4 aspherical lenses, the LEICA DC VARIOSUMMICRON lens offers a large aperture of F2.0 and 24mm wide angle that is very helpful when shooting at higher shutter speeds in low-lit situations or for giving backgrounds a gentle softfocus. And it provides a focal length of 24mm to 60mm (35mm equivalent). From expansive wideangle shooting to telephoto shots, the crystal-clear rendering and rich gradation of this lens express extremely fine details and nuances. Large, high-sensitivity CCD for unprecedented image quality Movie button for instant recording of videos The newly developed 1/1.63" CCD helps capture beautiful images with outstanding dynamic range and minimal noise. By optimizing the use of space within individual photocells to allow larger photodiodes, and by purposely keeping pixel resolution at 10.1 megapixels to allow more light to enter each photocell, the CCD has exceptional sensitivity and saturation performance. Combined with re-engineered circuitry around the sensor for more stable signal outputs, the LX3 can faithfully reproduce colors even in high contrast or low-lit situations. Wide-angle 27mm LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens and 18x optical zoom The bright F2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens ranges from 27mm wide-angle all the way to 486mm telephoto. Intelligent Auto Mode (Photo) Press a button or turn a dial to select iA mode, and your LUMIX camera automatically activates a host of advanced functions and technologies – described below – that make it easy to capture beautiful, clear shots. AF Tracking Once you focus on your subject, AF Tracking automatically and continuously tracks it and keeps it in focus and proper exposure. You can use the flash function with 1st curtain and 2nd curtain synchro settings to add an effective nuance according to the scene. The 2nd curtain synchro activates the flash just before the shutter closes, making it appear that the light source is actually behind the subject. Light Metering The light can be measured in three ways as a guideline for exposure: Intelligent Multiple, Center Weighted, or Spot. Simply switch the metering method to match the shooting scene or your shooting intent. *Some models offer Intelligent Multiple metering only. Select Among 3 Aspect Ratios In addition to the conventional 4:3 image format, you can select the 16:9 or 3:2 format to suit the shot you're composing. Images in the 16:9 format are perfect for viewing on a widescreen TV. Some models also let you use the 1:1 format to create unique compositions. White Balance Settings Choose from six preset white balance settings: Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Shade, Flash, Halogen, and White Set. This is handy when there are several different light sources and it's difficult to get the exact coloration you want. Digital Red-Eye Correction (Red-Eye Removal) Intelligent Resolution Technology Red-eye reduction for the built-in flash uses the camera's internal image processing circuitry to minimize the red-eye effect. The camera automatically identifies parts with outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas, and optimizes the edge emphasis on the outlines and detailed texture areas while using the Venus Engine noise reduction process to make the soft gradation areas smoother. This lets you capture stunning images with details you've never seen before in both photo and movie recording. Flash Synchro Basic Functions Intelligent Exposure Happy Mode This mode lets you take playful photos by intentionally emphasizing the contrast and increasing the color saturation. Asia Version. White Balance Adjustment When it's difficult to get the exact coloring you want, you can add bluish or reddish tones in +/-10 steps of 150 kelvins each*. Some models let you make adjustments on both the red/blue axis and the magenta/green axis in +/- 9 steps. *In Auto mode the white balance is determined automatically and cannot be adjusted. POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) Focusing Functions With double* the corrective power of previous models, POWER O.I.S. covers you even when you're shooting at slower shutter speeds. This gives you beautiful shots without hand-shake at night and in other dimly lit situations. *Panasonic comparison A Choice of Auto Focus Modes Choose the auto focus mode that best suits the situation. In addition to Face Detection AF and AF Tracking, you can choose from 1-area, 1-area high-speed, Spot, and Multi. *The AF area setting menu varies by model. For details, please see the specifications on pages 36 to 41. Selectable AF Area While using 1-area, 1-area high-speed, Spot, or Multi-area AF mode, you can specify the area out of 11 AF areas. You can thereby enjoy free framing even with the subject not at the center. Some models let you set the AF area to any location within the frame. MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) Built-in gyrosensors detect even slight camera movement caused by hand-shake. The system then compensates for the shake so you get clear, sharp photos. Multi Aspect Mode ISO Sensitivity Settings The camera takes pictures in each of the three aspect ratios (4:3, 3:2, 16:9) in one go. And you can reproduce images shot with the lens set from wide end to tele end in any of the three aspect ratios. You can choose the light-receiving sensitivity from Auto, I.ISO, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, or 3200*. *ISO setting menu varies by model. For details, please see the specifications on pages 36 to 41. ISO Limit Set When using ISO Auto mode, you can preset exactly the upper ISO limit that you want. This lets you shoot within the sensitivity range that you have set, to reflect your intentions in particular shooting situations. MEGA BURST Consecutive Shooting Auto Bracketing The camera lets you snap off consecutive shots at up to 3 frames per second* with full resolution. *The maximum number of frames varies with different models and settings. This shoots three shots at slightly graduated exposures (+/- 1/3 - 1 EV step). Pick the best of the three to keep. Unlimited Consecutive Shooting The Unlimited Consecutive Shooting function lets you keep on shooting until the memory card is full. You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like best and delete the rest. *The consecutive shooting speed varies depending on the model, shooting conditions and memory card. AF Assist Lamp Intelligent ISO Control For use in dim lighting, this lamp slightly illuminates the subject to help the AF system focus correctly. This system detects if the subject is moving as you shoot, and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed accordingly to help prevent motion blur. When the camera detects that you have assumed a shooting stance, it automatically begins focusing. This system gets you ready to catch critical shots faster than systems that don't begin focusing until you press the shutter button halfway. *The focus speed may be slower in dark surroundings. Face Detection AF/AE This function determines if there are any faces in the photo and adjusts the focus and exposure to capture them correctly. Face Recognition Advanced Shooting Functions Quick AF Ready to shoot Press the shutter button halfway Press the shutter button Begins focusing Normal Jasmine Susie Janet This function optimizes the focus and exposure for the faces of up to three subjects that have been registered in the camera. It will distinguish these special people in a group and capture them clearly and beautifully.*Turn the Face Recognition item on and register subjects with a full-face portrait on the shooting menu in advance. Refer to the back page for details. Press the shutter button Begins focusing Quick AF This function automatically sets the camera to whichever of six* Scene modes – Portrait, Night Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Macro, or Sunset – is best for the situation. *The number of Scene modes varies depending on the model. Color Mode / Color Effect Mode Choose from five or seven preset Color Mode settings: Cool, Warm, Black & White, Sepia, Natural*, Standard*, and Vivid*. In some models, the bracketing function can provide three types of image. *Not offered on all models. Intelligent Zoom Intelligent Zoom uses Intelligent Resolution Technology to extend the optical zoom ratio to its 1.3x equivalent maintaining the picture quality even combining the digital zoom. Extra Optical Zoom The camera is always focusing, which reduces AF delays. This function provides additional magnification, extending the zoom power by using the center part of the CCD. When compared with conventional digital zoom functions that directly enlarge the image data, it provides better image quality. You can manually focus with the joystick. And you can also use the assist function, which enlarges the center of the image to make focusing easier. The focusing area can be enlarged up to 4x and is movable. Much like changing the film type in a film camera, you can enjoy a wide range of expression based on six color modes and three monochromatic modes. A wide-angle lens captures a wider photo area than a standard 35mm lens. This is a big advantage when you're trying to capture the grandeur of a sweeping landscape or massive building, or when you're in a small room trying to take a group photo. Continuous AF Manual Focus Intelligent Scene Selector Film Mode Wide-Angle Shooting Picture Adjustment Choose from four picture adjustment settings: Contrast, Sharpness, Saturation and Noise Reduction. Each setting can be individually set to Low, Standard or High. RAW Format Compatibility You can record original image data directly from the CCD without any image processing. Using the SILKYPIX® Developer Studio software utility, you can develop RAW data to create an image with the effect you wanted when you took the shot. Easy Zoom Button Press this button once and the zoom lens instantly extends to full telescopic. Press it twice and the Extra Optical Zoom also activates and extends to full telescopic. With this quick zooming, you're ready in an instant when a great opportunity arises. *The "PHOTOfunSTUDIO" and ArcSoft® "MediaImpression™" software utilities included in the CD-ROM are designed just to convert RAW files into JPEG images. There are special places that humankind must preserve for the enjoyment of future generations. Around the world professional photographers are already at work capturing images HD PHOTO of these beautiful and dramatic locations exclusively with LUMIX digital cameras. All LUMIX models record wide-screen, 16:9, full-HD (1920 x 1080-pixel) images. These images are simply breathtaking when displayed on an HDTV, which handles about four times the data of a standard-definition TV. With LUMIX, you can enjoy a whole new style of HDTV viewing with family and friends. With its ability to reproduce detailed images with true to life colors and no quality degradation, digital photography is ideal for preserving these important places and memories. Panasonic, by supporting the UNESCO Partnered OUR PLACE project is committed to preserving the World’s Heritage and Standard Definition HD MOVIE In addition to capturing beautiful photos, LUMIX lets you shoot high-quality HD movies in the progressive format, which minimizes flicker.
