QCARD Course Registration – Sept. 2009
Via Queen’s Portal
For Upper Year Students
Remember, Queen’s is a 3 step process:
a) pre-register/select courses and activate NetID by July 18, 2009
b) pay Queen’s tuition in full by August 1, 2009
c) register between August 31 and September 25, 2009
QCARD TIPS: Make sure to read each screen carefully; often there are instructions/messages displayed on the
screen. If you make a mistake, don't panic. You can access QCARD as many times as you want to correct your
mistake. QCARD does not send you an email to confirm the process.
DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind this document is accurate when created. However technology is always changing and
these instructions should give you enough direction to be able to complete the task.
For those who have completed steps A & B above, you can now register. Follow
instructions step C below.
For those who missed a step above, please turn over the page for instructions.
STEP C: INSTRUCTIONS FOR QUEEN’S COURSE REGISTRATION:
All Queen’s-Trent Concurrent Education students are REQUIRED TO REGISTER on QCARD. Registration opens
August 31, 2009. Registration closes September 25, 2009. This is the final step. If you do not complete registration
your name will not show up the grade sheet! Students must enter QCARD via the Queen's Portal (My Queen’s
Login). You will need your Queen’s NetID and password to use the Queen’s Portal (My Queen’s Login) to access
QCARD.
1. Using your NetID, log on to the Queen's portal (My Queens Login) (https://portal.queensu.ca/portal/dt).
2. From the QCARD Main Menu, under the "Update" heading, click on "Address/Biographic Information".
3. Click on "Update Address Information", fill it in, click update.
(This is the address you wish Queens to send your student card to).
4. Go back to the Main Menu to again and click on "Address/Biographic Information" but this time click on
"Update Biographic Information".
5. There are 3 sections in the Biographic Information:
a) Review the Citizenship information, changes cannot be made on the screen. If changes are necessary
see Sue Devlin in the Queens-Trent Concurrent Education office MORNINGS ONLY;
b) Review the Biographic information, changes cannot be made on the screen. If changes are necessary
see Sue Devlin in the Queens-Trent Concurrent Education office MORNINGS ONLY;
c) Emergency Contact information: Input your Emergency Address (for most, it will be your parents
Address). Click "Update". Click "Continue".
6. Go back to the Main Menu and click "Courses & Program for 2009-10 Session".
7. Click on "View or Change Courses".
8. Read the Student Responsibility declaration. Click "Continue".
9. View your courses:
Year 2 PJ – CURR 385 F and PRAC 210 FW (section T for both)
Year 2 IS – PROF 211 F and PRAC 211 FW (section T for both)
Year 3 PJ – PROF 310 FW and PRAC 310 FW (section T for both)
Year 3 IS – PROF 311 FW and PRAC 311 FW (section T for both). If okay, click "Confirm".
10. If you need to correct sections, follow the instructions in the blue box for changing, then click "Sign Off".
11. Click 'Main Menu".
12. Click "Sign Off" on the following two pages. You have successfully logged off the system. Click "Close
Window". You have now completed registration. Your Queen's student card new sticker will be mailed to you once
you have successfully completed registration.

Catch up on Step A - ACTIVATE YOUR QUEEN’S NetID ACCOUNT
Step 1* To access QCARD you will first need to activate your NetID account at by going to
https://eservices.queensu.ca/apps/mynetid/getid/ This is the first screen that you will be prompted through to get
your NetID and create a password. You need your Queen’s student number and date of birth to start the
activation process. On this screen, you need to agree to the code of conduct. Then follow the directions on the next
two screens to get your NetID and create a password. The system will prompt your through these screens.
Step 2* In the second screen for activation of your NetID account, you will be given a NetID and you will create a
password. Once you input and confirm your password, click the Set Password and Activate button to proceed to the
next step. Immediately WRITE down your NetID and password and store it in a secure place. If you get an
error message while in the system please call Queen’s ITServices at 613-533-6666.
Step 3* The third screen confirms that your NetID and password have been successfully created. It will take about
2 hours before you can access all the services (including QCARD) with your NetID and password.
You cannot PRE-REGISTER/SELECT COURSES after the July 18, 2009 deadline. You will
have to use the Add/Drop period as part of Registration (alternate step C below) in Sept.
Catch up on Step B – PAYMENT OF QUEEN’S TUITION. You cannot register (step C) if you have not
paid your Queen’s tuition in full. Late fees will be applied if you paid after the August 1, 2009 deadline.
Alternate Step C: INSTRUCTIONS FOR QUEEN’S COURSE REGISTRATION for students
who did not pre-register/select courses or pay Queen’s tuition on time:
You cannot complete registration until the Add/Drop period opens on September 8. Registration closes
September 25, 2009. This is the final step. If you do not complete registration your name will not show up the grade
sheet! Students must enter QCARD via the Queen's Portal (My Queen’s Login). You will need your Queen’s NetID

instructions in the blue box to add each course:

Year 3 PJ – PROF 310 FW and PRAC 310 FW (section T for both)
Year 3 IS – PROF 311 FW and PRAC 311 FW (section T for both).
Click update each time you add a course, once both courses have appeared if okay, click "Confirm".
10. Then click "Sign Off".
11. Click 'Main Menu".
12. Click "Sign Off" on the following two pages. You have successfully logged off the system. Click "Close
Window". You have now completed registration. Your Queen's student card new sticker will be mailed to you once
you have successfully completed registration.
