Orientation & Family Relations
The Office of Orientation & Family Relations is dedicated to easing the
transition to ERAU for new students and their families. Through universitywide collaboration, Orientation programming is designed to set university
expectations and guidelines up front, while providing students information
on with valuable resources, services, support, and social networking
opportunities that will assist them through their time at this institution.
Family Relations serves as a partnership between a student’s support
network and the university. The Department of Student Activities &
Campus Events provides programs and services designed to enhance
the support and retention of students by meeting the educational,
informational and involvement needs of their parents, families and
guardians.

ERAU O_Team
What is the Class of 2017 saying?
Anyone down for
ultimate frisbee?
There’s a club for
it right?
Soooooo ready to go surfing
when I get down there. I hear that
south a bit in New Smyrna is
actually really good surfing.
Are there ever any formal school
dances!? Homecoming, etc!?
Hopefully!
I’m not part
of the GLBTQ
community, but I
am a supporter.
I hope you guys like playing catch
phrase! I plan on bringing it with me
and I love to play!
Are there ever any
formal school dances!?
Homecoming, etc!?
Hopefully!
Ladies and gentlemen, I got all four
wisdom teeth out today. Anyone want to
share tips/stories to distract me from the
pain and nausea please?
How are people planning to pay
for Riddle? Am I the only one
looking down the barrel of a
massive student loan?
Any suggestions for an engineer’s
calculator? I was just going to go with
a TI-84ish kind of thing, but I wasn’t
sure if there was a preferred model.
HELP!
So are the squirrels on campus
like unofficial mascots? They
have their own Facebook page...
How’s the gym at
Riddle? I’d like to
get fit. But don’t
know where to start.
Hahaha
I love Propeller’s
burgers and milkshakes!

Eagle Spirit
ERAU Alma Mater
Verse 1:
Eagles gather near, we lift our voices loud and clear
Soaring high, oh Alma Mater,
Threads of blue and gold
United we soar, in vast open skies
Embry-Riddle, we hail thee, great memories we’ll hold.
Verse 2:
Singing thy praise, remembering the days
Coast to coast, around the world, our bond forever true
Embracing our dreams, with pride far and wide
Embry-Riddle, we hail thee, great memories we’ll hold.
Refrain:
So here’s to you old ERAU
Alma Mater true,
We pledge in love and harmony
Our loyalty to you.

Traditions
Convocation
Convocation is the formal welcome ceremony for all students entering into the EmbryRiddle academic community. It serves as the ceremonial start to a student’s college
career. Convocation is an opportunity to meet faculty and fellow students, as well as
hear from the Chief Academic Officer, Faculty Senate, and the Student Government
Association President.
Spirit Rock
The “Spirit Rock” is located across from the Rec Center Pool and is designed for student
organizations, residence halls, athletic and intramural teams, and campus departments to
promote their organizations, announce events, and display Embry-Riddle spirit. The “Spirit
Rock” was planted in 2005 and has become one of the most loved campus traditions.
Homecoming
Homecoming is a weeklong annual event that encourages students, faculty, staff and
alumni to celebrate traditions, show school spirit, and welcome back ERAU Alumni. Past
events have included a parade, tailgate party, basketball game, crowning of the King &
Queen, comedy show and Carnival.
Orientation Hypnotist
A must-see event held during the first day of classes. Touch-N-Go Productions sponsors
this annual tradition that is 30 years in the making. The Orientation hypnotist will blow
your mind and leave you in stitches.

Civil Engineering
Who are Civil Engineers?
Civil engineers are guardians of civilized society.
They are problem solvers of pollution, water quality and infrastructures such
as airports seaports, bridges and many more critical transportation systems.
Civil Engineers are everywhere!
Where do Civil Engineers work?
Unlike many professions,
job opportunities exist everywhere!
Where do you want to live?
Civil engineers were responsible for the design
of the Space Station. Aerospace companies
hire thousands of civil engineers to design the
structural components of aircraft.
Why Civil Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University?
The Civil Engineering curriculum is
broad but focuses on 4 branches of
Civil Engineering; environmental,
geotechnical, structural and
transportation. Technical electives
allow choices in other engineering
disciplines.
The Civil Engineering Program
is fully accredited by the
Accreditation Board for
Engineering and Technology
(ABET).
College of Arts and Sciences
As we explore our universe, Civil Engineers will play a crucial role.
Join us and BECOME A CIVIL ENGINEER!

Partnering with CONAL NATIONAL AIRCRAFT CONSTRUCTION LTD., based at Sorocaba Airport in Brazil, who just settled its US branch in our hangar, has been a great achievement. CONAL, after 50 years of solid foundation, has the widest range of certifications in Brazil through King Air Beechcraft, Falcons, Cessna Citations, among others. Having CONAL with us, we have been able to negotiate directly with key suppliers and resellers to trade all kinds of spare parts and accessories, for airplanes and helicopters, at very competitive prices. 1707 S.
