Every year the Agfest Committee supports a selected
charity through a free site at Agfest, enabling them
to promote their service to a concentrated audience.
This year the committee unanimously chose Ronald
McDonald House Hobart as our official charity.
One of the most difficult and challenging times in a
parent’s life is the chronic illness or serious injury of their
child. At a time when family life is turned upside down,
Ronald McDonald House is there to help, providing
accommodation at little or no cost right across the road
from Royal Hobart Hospital.
Not only does Ronald McDonald House offer a warm
welcome, a cuppa and 24 hour assistance - the House
becomes a home for families to stay together, at a time
when they really need it. Most come from rural and
regional Tasmania, with the majority from the North
West Coast and Launceston and surrounding areas.
Ronald McDonald House receives no government
funding, so support from the community is essential
in helping it maintain its vital service to rural and
regional Tasmanian families.
Agfest 2016 is proud to support this important and
life-changing organisation.
AGFEST 2016 COMMITTEE
Roberts Ltd also understand the importance of supporting
our rural sector, and this year helped us establish our new
Rural Ag Scholarship. This scholarship will help young
Tasmanians attend training or education in the rural
sector. $1 from every Agfest ticket purchased from their
Rural Supplies Stores will be donated to the scholarship
fund.
I’d like to offer you a very warm welcome to
Agfest 2016. With more than 760 exhibitors and
an action-packed program, this year’s event is set
to be a huge success.
‘Rural’ isn’t restricted to life on the farm – whether it’s
through our livelihood, lifestyle or interest, the rural
sector reaches each and every one of us in some way.
Our new theme, Growing Rural Tasmania, captures the
purpose of Agfest – to showcase our state’s agricultural
industry, to encourage innovation and to provide a unique
training ground for the rural leaders of tomorrow.
You may be aware that Agfest is run by young volunteers
from Rural Youth Tasmania. I’d like to acknowledge the
hard work and dedication that has gone into making our
event possible, and to recognise Rural Youth Tasmania’s

Running the Field Days results in the provision of social
interaction, training, opportunities, and travel for Rural
Youth Tasmania and its members.
My vision for 2016 is to develop the Organisation with
focus that whilst meetings are vital, we can have fun
and achieve great outcomes while working alongside our
mates, engaging with the youth within our rural industry
and communities.

As Chairman of Agfest 2016, I’m especially pleased to
welcome back the Equine Expo this year. Be sure to
visit the re-vamped arena for an exciting program of
events. I also encourage you to join our 30th anniversary
celebrations for Rural Business Tasmania, an organisation
established by Rural Youth Tasmania to provide financial
counselling and assistance to local farmers when times
are tough.
I hope you enjoy walking the streets of Agfest 2016 –

AG ARTWEAR®: FASHION WITH
A DIFFERENCE
Site 908 Ninth Avenue. Daily fashion parades,
voting closes 10:00 Saturday.
The Ag Artwear® competition is one of the highlights
of Agfest. Come and view amazing garments created
using only products found on the farm. Watch one of
our fashion parades and vote on your favourite outfit
to be the Overall Winner. Parades will be held each day
in the KAAP Marquee. Voting closes on Saturday at
10:00 and the final Parade will take place at 12:15
in the Central Arena.

PROGRAM (KAAP)

Meet KAAP the Kelpie!
Kids of all ages will love KAAP
the Kelpie’s journey of education,
providing hands-on experiences and activities
run by Family Day Care Council of Tasmania.
Exhibitor Waxhands Tasmania will also show you
how to turn your hand into a wax masterpiece.

WORKING SHEEP DOG TRIALS
Eastern end of Main Street, behind Eleventh Avenue
See 60 of the best Tasmanian sheep dogs in action
as, guided by their owners, they encourage a small
number of sheep to move in, through and over a
number of typical farm obstacles like ramps, gates and
sheep pens, all under the watchful eye of the judges.
Trials are held every day, with the final 6 dogs running
for the title of Agfest Open Sheep Dog Champion.
BEEF EXPO
Corner Eighth Avenue and North Street
Daily breed exhibits.
Come and visit some of Tasmania’s premium
beef cattle! The Beef Expo includes exhibits of
Dexter, Simmental and Speckled Park breeds.
Datamars Zee Tags will also be on display.

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TRACK
Corner North Street & Fifth Avenue
Demonstrations every hour.
4WD Tasmania and the Agfest Committee have
worked together to bring a jam-packed 3 days of
non-stop 4X4 action on the Peter Brock Memorial
Four Wheel Drive Track with demonstrations every
hour, including a demo of how to safely recover a
rolled vehicle using winches and high lift jacks at
around 10:30 and 2:00 each day.

Take a step back in time and appreciate the lifestyle
and hardships of our pioneers. Visit our working
blacksmith, a selection of vintage machinery from
the wool and timber industries, steam engines and
tractors of yesteryear and old time cars.

Witness the strength and prowess.
Witness big men with big axes and even bigger saws as round
two of the 2016 Australian STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®
championship gets underway at Agfest. The passion, energy
and atmosphere of the competition is something to be
experienced. Winners will have the chance to represent
Australia at the 2016 Team World Championships.

TOILETS
A highlight of Agfest 2016 is the return of the
Equine Expo. There’s a full program featuring
demonstrations including miniature ponies,
dressage, cross country and show jumping.
There are four permanent
toilet blocks, one at each
end of South Street,
one at the northern end
of Eighth Avenue (near
craft) and one at the back
of 125 in First Avenue. A
disabled toilet is located in
each block. Two portable
buildings containing male/
female toilets are located
near the south east corner
of the Unique Taste
Pavilion and the northern
end of Sixth Avenue, next
to Heritage.

The Agfest field Days accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to goods
during transit.
$2 to be paid on presentation of this portion for collection of goods.
Parcel Parking is operated by the Summerhill Scout Group. For $2
you can leave your parcels in a safe location and continue your journey
around the site in comfort. Parcel Pickup is available to anyone
purchasing goods weighing between 5-80 kgs. Exhibitors will have
forms available on their site.
Top section to be attached to goods.
1. The rest of the form to be taken to the site office by the purchaser
for registration – please allow at least one hour for
the courier to pick up your goods.
2. The bottom section will be returned to the purchaser to be
retained and presented at the designated gate as proof of purchase
when picking up the goods.
The pickup crew does continuous circuits, picking up goods and
delivering to the two depots on site.

the Bass Highway. 7 km past the Hagley bypass,
turn right into Oaks Road (C511) at the Liffey
Falls Exit.

the Bass Highway. 22 km from Launceston, turn
left into Oaks Road (C511) at the Liffey Falls Exit.
From Hobart Follow the Midlands Highway to
Perth, turn left onto (B52) and continue for
13 km and turn left onto the Bass Highway.
Travel 4 km and turn left into Oaks Road (C511)
at the Liffey Falls Exit (marked with large yellow
Agfest signage).

This will include reduced speed limits and the placement
of barriers along the full length of Oaks Road to prevent
lane changing (under request of Tasmania Police). Patrons
are asked to obey all signage and any directions given
by traffic control official and Tasmania Police. Traffic
conditions may be altered at short notice to minimise
traffic delays.
