Students can explore the museum and any special exhibit
with classmates and chaperones. This field trip is great for
early childhood groups, preschool, kindergarten or lower
elementary grades. Play and enjoy the museum with your
group.

INVESTIGATE AND PLAY FIELD TRIPS

This facilitated field trip includes exploration in the
museum’s permanent and special exhibits as well as
hands-on guided workshops. Choose from one of the
following programs:
1. Rocks Rock
Be a geologist and explore the world of rocks and
minerals. Find out how different rocks are formed. Make
a volcano erupt and start your own rock collection to
take home!

2. Weather Wiz Workshop Explore the phenomena of weather! Be a meteorologist
and learn how clouds and rain are formed, and see
demonstrations of lightning and a tornado.

3. Bubble-ology
Explore the science of bubbles! Use the scientific
method to decide what makes a good bubble solution.
Get inside a giant bubble and make your own bubble
wand to take home.

4. Full STEAM Ahead
Investigate the science of electricity including circuits,
conductors and insulators. Create a take-home project
using your newly acquired circuitry skills.

Little Pigs
Pre-K – 1st Grade
Meet the three most famous engineers in storybook
history! Have a blast acting out the classic tale, The
Three Little Pigs. Work in teams to enhance your
building skills as you build a house strong enough to
withstand the huff and puff of the Big Bad Wolf.
RAWR! In this interactive exploration you will get a
chance to become junior paleontologists. Learn the
difference between a carnivore and a herbivore, and
how big a Stegosaurus was. Get a chance to unearth a
fossil to take home!

5. Buzzing Bee-Bots

Meet our team of Bee-Bot robots! Program a friendly
Bee-Bot to complete challenges and make it through
an obstacle course that you help create. These buzzing
robots teach children about colors, measurement and
math, all while learning about sequencing.
Waddle into the world of penguins! Learn where
these amazing creatures live and how they survive in
different environments. Put on a blubber glove to keep
warm, hatch an egg and learn how penguins eat in this
adorable adventure!

3. Ladybugs: An Insect Encounter
Pre-K – 1st Grade
Get up close and personal with the cutest insects around!
Use a magnifying glass to inspect our live ladybugs and
determine how they fly, what body parts they have and
what they eat. Learn about their lifecycle, their wings
and just why they have those spots. Come fly away with
this exciting ladybug experience.

3. The Amazing Bubble Show
Preschool – 5th Grade
Experience Omaha Children’s Museum’s most POPular program. Discover new tools to create bubbles,
turn bubbles into smoke and even make bubbles big
enough to put a person in.

Or that your intestines can be 25 feet in length?
Discover some of anatomy’s most interesting
facts in this disgustingly fun adventure.
Make snot, discover how food travels in your
intestines and what you need to keep your
bodies healthy and strong.

7. Dinos on the Loose
Kindergarten – 5th grade
Cost: $500
*Pricing does not apply to Dinos on the Loose.
** Educators will need 30 minutes before and after the
presentation for set-up and clean-up time.
Think all dinosaurs are extinct? Think again! Bring our
seven-foot-tall baby T-Rex to your school or event! This
dinosaur walks, roars, chomps, blinks and growls to
everyone’s delight. Start the program off learning what
we know about dinosaurs and how paleontologists
continue to make discoveries. Then be amazed as the
T-Rex is unleashed and interacts with your group!
TRAVEL COST
Free within 10 miles of the museum. $2 per round-trip
mile beyond 10 miles of the museum.

1. Eric Carle: A Colorful Adventure
Preschool – 1st Grade
Join Brown Bear and The Very Hungry Caterpillar as we
explore the colorful world around us. Enjoy these Eric
Carle classics as they jump off the page. Mix up colors,
make a rainbow and learn about the lifecycle of a butterfly
and nature through the lens of colors and counting.

2. Seuss-sational Science!
Preschool – 2nd Grade
Meet the museum’s resident “Seussical Scientist” as we
bring Dr. Seuss’ classics to life with experiments and
silliness inspired by the legendary books! This larger
than life program bridges literacy and STEM learning in
a fun and engaging way!

4. Whiz Bang Super Science Show
Preschool – 5th Grade
Defy gravity in this super fun science show! See air
travel across the room using our Airzooka, and set off
a tasty soda geyser. You’re sure to leave this program a
science whiz.

5. Mad Scientist! Preschool – 5th Grade
Mwaha-haha…Omaha Children’s Museum has gone
a little MAD! Create kooky experiments with our Mad
Scientist in this theatrical science show. Blow up soap,
shrink chip bags and make giant mega foam. This
program is guaranteed to blow your mind!

DISCOVERY DOME PROGRAMS
Featuring the Runza Discovery Dome
COST: 1 or 2 consecutive shows: 219 each*
3rd or 4th consecutive shows: $50 each

TIME: 60 – 75 minutes per class**
*Applies only to same reservation time, location and program.
** Dome show is approximately 30 minutes, followed by 30-45
minutes of hands-on activities.

MUSEUM RENTAL
The Discovery Dome Science Experience features a
planetarium dome film and hands-on science activities that
bring the film to life. Hands-on activities require additional
space and teachers or volunteer facilitators. Choose from
the following programs:
1. One World, One Sky
Kindergarten – 1st Grade
One World, One Sky is a 23-minute planetarium show
that follows Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Elmo as
they explore the night sky with Hu Hu Zhu, a Muppet.
Together, they take an imaginary trip from Sesame Street
to the moon, where they discover how different it is from
Earth. The show aims to nurture a child’s natural sense of
wonder about the night sky.

Looking for a great place to hold your event? Omaha
Children’s Museum offers options for renting all or part of
the museum for your school or group. An entire museum
rental allows for up to 1,200 people. The museum will be
staffed and open for learning and play just for your group.

Add science shows, train and carousel rides, or a number
of other fun and exciting options for an especially
memorable event.
2. Molecularium
1st – 4th Grade
2016-2017 Special Exhibits
This program takes you on a journey with OXY, HYDRO
and HYDRA, an amazing cast of atoms, aboard the
most fantastic ship in the universe: the Molecularium.
Molecularium brings children on a musical cartoon
adventure into a nanoscale universe created from
accurate molecular simulations. They learn about the
three states of matter as they travel into a cloud, watch
a snowflake form and count the number of water
molecules in a raindrop.

3. The Zula Patrol: Down to Earth
1st – 5th Grade
Mobile Planetarium
Programs made possible by
a NASA Space Grant.
While on a routine fossil-hunting expedition, The Zula
Patrol turns up evidence that the Earth’s prehistoric past
has become an illegal dump site for toxic trash. In their
investigation, children will learn about the formation
and development of the Earth, and the life forms who
call it home.

For the best choice of day and time, please schedule at
least two weeks prior to your program or admission.
Location
Omaha Children’s Museum is located in downtown
Omaha on the corner of 20th Street and Saint Mary’s
Avenue.

Fees & Payment
Program fees are listed throughout this guide and are
effective through May 31, 2017. Payment is required
on the day of the field trip unless other arrangements
have been made. Please make all checks payable to
Omaha Children’s Museum. For outreaches, presenter
cannot take payment on the day of event. If not paid in
advance, you will be billed.
Age Requirements
The experiments and activities in our outreach
programs are appropriate for ages 3 through 11. See
specific programs for more details and suggested
age range.
Mileage Charges for
Outreaches
Free within 10 miles of the museum. $2 per round trip
mile, beyond 10 miles of the museum.
Eating Accommodations
Contact the museum at least two weeks in advance
to cancel your trip. Cancelled trips without two weeks
notice will be charged a $25 cancellation fee. Groups
may not book trips again until this fee is paid.
Groups may bring their own sack lunch to enjoy at
the museum in one of our eating areas. Indoor and
outdoor public eating areas are available throughout
the museum on a first come, first serve basis. Lunch
rooms are available to reserve at time of booking for $25
per group. All lunch rooms are subject to availability.

Educational Standards
Cancellation Policy
Omaha Children’s Museum requires adult chaperones
with all student field trips. For school-age children, one
chaperone must attend with every six students. For
preschool-age children, one chaperone must attend
for every four students. These chaperones will attend
free of charge. Any additional chaperones are charged
group admission prices.
