EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE and PROTECTION The #1 selling PBI Matrix outer shell fabric just got better. TenCate Gemini™ XT combines the proven performance of PBI® with the advanced engineering expertise of TenCate. The thermal resistance of PBI® and Dupont Kevlar® spun yarns are reinforced with a high-strength filament grid. TenCate high performance fabrics provide protection, comfort, durability and excellent value. • Advanced engineering – Gemini™ XT features a patented high tech grid of composite filament & spun yarns that provides strength, reduces abrasion and eliminates puckering. • Superior durability – 5 times better abrasion resistance than competitive PBI® fabrics. • Excellent thermal stability – Strong and flexible before and after thermal exposure. • Increased strength – 20% increase in trapezoidal tear strength. www.tencateprotectivefabrics.com Natural (Gold) PH Y SIC A L PROPE R T IE S TenCate Gemini™ XT FABRIC WEIGHT (oz/yd²) NFPA 1971 Requirements 7.5 FABRIC WEAVE Modified plain Kevlar,® PBI® reinforced with a high-strength filament grid FIBER BLEND FINISH Super Shelltite™ COLOR Natural (Gold) TRAPEZOIDAL TEAR STRENGTH (lbs) ASTM D 5587* Initial (warp x fill) After 5 launderings (warp x fill) TENSILE STRENGTH (lbs) 55 x 55 55 x 55 22.0 min 240 x 280 240 x 275 140.0 min ASTM D 5034 Initial (warp x fill) After 10 launderings (warp x fill) Tensile Strength (lbs) After 17.5-second TPP Exposure (2.0 cal/cm2•sec) (warp x fill) WATER ABSORPTION RESISTANCE (%) 50 X 25 AATCC 42 Initial After 5 launderings FLAME RESISTANCE < 2.0 < 5.0 30.0 max < 0.6 x < 0.6 0.4 x 0.4 0.4 x 0.4 4.0 max < 3.5 x < 3.5 5.0 max < 2.0 < 3.0 10.0 max ASTM D 6413 Char Length (inches) – Initial (warp x fill) Char Length (inches) – After 5 launderings (warp x fill) After flame in seconds (warp x fill) LAUNDRY SHRINKAGE (%) 2.0 max AATCC 135 After 5 launderings (cotton sturdy cycle) (warp x fill) HEAT AND THERMAL SHRINKAGE (%) NFPA 1971 (500°F at 5 minutes) - Initial After 5 launderings C O N T A C T U S AT : TenCate Protective Fabrics 6501 Mall Blvd. P.O. Sunlight/UV Exposure Advisory: Prolonged sunlight and UV exposure can be damaging to aramid and PBI fibers. Both natural (undyed) and dyed aramid and PBI fibers will fade or change color with exposure to sunlight or other UV sources. The thermal performance is not affected, but long term or repeated exposures will cause the fabric to gradually weaken. Garments should be stored so that they are protected from sunlight, including windows and bay doors, to maximize wear life. TenCate Protective Fabrics offers no warranties, implied or otherwise, for color change or fabric damage due to UV exposure. All listed test data and ranges represent typical values. All test data and ranges are the result of multiple tests unless otherwise stated. To the best of our knowledge, the information contained herein is accurate.
